< Proverbs 1 >
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
Ngeche mag Solomon wuod Daudi, ruodh Israel:
2 to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;
mamiyo iyudo rieko kod ritruok makare, kendo winjo tiend weche matut;
3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;
kendo miyo idak e ngima moritore kendo mobidhore kitimo gima adiera kendo gima kare kendo mowinjore,
4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man—
gimiyo joma ngʼeyogi tin bedo mariek, kendo gimiyo jomatindo ngʼeyo tiend weche kendo pogo tiend wach.
5 that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;
Mad jomariek chik itgi mondo owinji kendo gimedgi e puonjruokgi, to jogo mongʼeyo pogo tiend wach mad oyud gino ma chikogi,
6 to understand a proverb and parables, the words and riddles of the wise.
mondo gingʼe ngeche, sigendini, kod weche ma tiendgi tek mag jorieko.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
Luoro Jehova Nyasaye e chakruok mar ngʼeyo to joma ofuwo chayo rieko gi ritruok makare.
8 My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake your mother’s teaching;
Wuoda, chik iti ni puonj wuonu, kendo kik ijwangʼ puonj mar minu.
9 for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.
Ginibedni kaka kondo michwowo e wiyi, kendo kaka thiwni miketo e ngʼuti mondo ineri maber.
10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.
Wuoda, ka joricho hoyoi mondo itim marach, kik iyienegi.
11 If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.
Kagiwachoni niya, “Bi idhi kodwa; mondo wabuti ni ngʼato wanegi, kendo wamonj kayiem nono joma onge ketho;
12 Let's swallow them up alive like Sheol (Sheol ), and whole, like those who go down into the pit.
mondo wamuonygi ngili ka bur liel mana ka joma omwony mangima gi bur; (Sheol )
13 We will find all valuable wealth. We will fill our houses with plunder.
wabiro yudo gik moko duto mabeyo ma nengogi tek, mi wapongʼ utewa gi gik moyaki.
14 You shall cast your lot among us. We will all have one purse”—
In bende riwri kodwa e wachni, kendo wanapog gigo duto mwayako.”
15 my son, do not walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,
Wuoda, kik idhi kodgi ngangʼ kendo kik iwuoth e yoregigo,
16 for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.
nikech tiendgi reto piyo piyo mar timo richo kendo gimwomore mondo gichwer remo.
17 For the net is spread in vain in the sight of any bird;
Mano kaka en gima nono chiko obadho ka winy duto neno.
18 but these lay in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.
Jogi ochiko obadho ne gin giwegi, kendo gin ema ginimokie!
19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.
Mano e giko jogo duto mohero yudo gimoro moyud e yo marach; gino kawo ngima jogo moyude.
20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.
Rieko goyo koko matek e yore mag dala, ogoyo koko bende e kuonde chokruok;
21 She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:
oywak kogoyo koko e akerkeke mag yore motimo koko, owuoyo e dhorangeye mag mier madongo kopenjo niya,
22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?
“Nyaka karangʼo ma un joma ngʼeyogi tin nusik kuhero yoreu mag ngʼeyo matin?” Nyaka karangʼo ma jojaro pod nosik kamor, e jaro kendo joma ofuwo nosiki kochayo puonj?
23 Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.
Ka dine uwinj siem mara, dine abedo kodu thuolo, kendo damiyo ungʼeyo pacha.
24 Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;
To nikech ne udaga kane aluongo kendo onge ngʼama nodewa kane adwaro konyou,
25 but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;
nimar ne udagi puonj maga duto kendo ne ok uwinjo siem mara.
26 I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you,
An to ananyieru bangʼe ka un e chandruok; Anajaru ajara ka masira oloyou,
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.
ka masira machalo yamb ahiti obiro kuomu, kendo ka chandruok oyweyou ka yamb kalausi. Ka lit kod thagruok ohingou.
28 Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,
Giniluonga, to ok anadwokgi; ginimanya to ok giniyuda.
29 because they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD.
Kaka ne ok gidwar puonj kendo ok negiyiero luoro Jehova Nyasaye,
30 They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.
Kaka ne ok giyie gi puonjna kendo gidagi siem mara,
31 Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.
kuom mano ginicham olemo mag yoregi kendo giniyiengʼ gi olemo mar riekogi maricho.
32 For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.
Nikech yore mobam mag bayo mag jogo mangʼeyogi tin noneg-gi, kendo bedo ma ok odewo gimoro mar joma ofuwo notiekgi.
33 But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
To ngʼato angʼata mawinjo wachna nodag gi kwe kendo mayom, maonge luoro mar hinyruok.
