Proverbs 26
1 Like snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a fool.
੧ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗਰਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਢੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਖਾ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਸੂਤ ਨਹੀਂ।
2 Like a fluttering sparrow, like a darting swallow, so the undeserved curse does not come to rest.
੨ਜਿਵੇਂ ਚਿੜ੍ਹੀ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਲ ਕਟਾਰਾ ਉੱਡਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਮੱਲੋ-ਮੱਲੀ ਦਾ ਸਰਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।
3 A whip is for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools!
੩ਘੋੜੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਚਾਬੁਕ, ਗਧੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਲਗਾਮ, ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਦੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਲਈ ਸੋਟੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him.
੪ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉੱਤਰ ਨਾ ਦੇ, ਕਿਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਂ।
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.
੫ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ, ਕਿਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਨਾ ਬਣ ਬੈਠੇ।
6 One who sends a message by the hand of a fool is cutting off feet and drinking violence.
੬ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਘੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਤੇ ਕੁਹਾੜੀ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
7 Like the legs of the lame that hang loose, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
੭ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੰਗੜੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਮਕਦੀਆਂ ਲੱਤਾਂ ਨਿਕੰਮੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਓਵੇਂ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ ਹਨ।
8 As one who binds a stone in a sling, so is he who gives honor to a fool.
੮ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਢੇਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ, ਓਵੇਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੈ,
9 Like a thorn bush that goes into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
੯ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਡਾ ਚੁੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਹੈ।
10 As an archer who wounds all, so is he who hires a fool or he who hires those who pass by.
੧੦ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੀਰ-ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੱਟੜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਘਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰੀ ਤੇ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
11 As a dog that returns to his vomit, so is a fool who repeats his folly.
੧੧ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਲਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਟ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਵੇਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਹਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
੧੨ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੈ? ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਲਈ ਵਧੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਹੈ!
13 The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion roams the streets!”
੧੩ਆਲਸੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਹੈ, ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਬਰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਹੈ!
14 As the door turns on its hinges, so does the sluggard on his bed.
੧੪ਜਿਵੇਂ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਘੁੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਵੇਂ ਆਲਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੰਜੇ ਉੱਤੇ।
15 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish. He is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.
੧੫ਆਲਸੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਥਾਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
16 The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who answer with discretion.
੧੬ਆਲਸੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੱਤਾਂ ਜਣਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਜੋ ਠੀਕ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਣ ਜੋਗ ਹਨ, ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
17 Like one who grabs a dog’s ears is one who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own.
੧੭ਜਿਹੜਾ ਰਾਹ ਤੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਪਰਾਏ ਝਗੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਰ ਅੜਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਨੋਂ ਫੜੇ।
18 Like a madman who shoots torches, arrows, and death,
੧੮ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇੱਕ ਅੱਗ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਤੀਰ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ,
19 is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “Am I not joking?”
੧੯ਤਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਖਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਰਦਾ?
20 For lack of wood a fire goes out. Without gossip, a quarrel dies down.
੨੦ਜਿੱਥੇ ਬਾਲਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਅੱਗ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਚੁਗਲੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਝਗੜਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
21 As coals are to hot embers, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindling strife.
੨੧ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੰਗਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਇਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੱਕੜਾਂ, ਓਵੇਂ ਝਗੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਝਗੜਾਲੂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
22 The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, they go down into the innermost parts.
੨੨ਚੁਗਲੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਆਦਲੀਆਂ ਬੁਰਕੀਆਂ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਢਿੱਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਵੜ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
23 Like silver dross on an earthen vessel are the lips of a fervent one with an evil heart.
੨੩ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਬੁਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
24 A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but he harbors evil in his heart.
੨੪ਵੈਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤਾਂ ਕਪਟ ਕਰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਧੋਖਾ ਰੱਖ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ।
25 When his speech is charming, do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart.
੨੫ਜਦ ਉਹ ਮਿੱਠੀਆਂ-ਮਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਾ ਕਰੀਂ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਤ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹਨ।
26 His malice may be concealed by deception, but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
੨੬ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਵੈਰ ਧੋਖੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਵੀ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
27 Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it. Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him.
੨੭ਜਿਹੜਾ ਟੋਆ ਪੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪੱਥਰ ਰੇੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਓਸੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਣ ਪਵੇਗਾ।
28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts; and a flattering mouth works ruin.
੨੮ਝੂਠੀ ਜੀਭ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੁਚਲਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਚਾਪਲੂਸ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
