Proverbs 10
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
Provérbios de Salomão. O filho sábio alegra a seu pai, mas o filho louco é a tristeza de sua mãe.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
Os tesouros da impiedade de nada aproveitam; porém a justiça livra da morte.
3 The LORD will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
O Senhor não deixa ter fome a alma do justo, mas a fazenda dos ímpios rechaça.
4 He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
O que trabalha com mão enganosa empobrece, mas a mão dos diligentes enriquece.
5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.
O que ajunta no verão é filho entendido, mas o que dorme na sega é filho que faz envergonhar.
6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Bençãos há sobre a cabeça do justo, mas a violência cobre a boca dos ímpios.
7 The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
A memória do justo é abençoada, mas o nome dos ímpios apodrecerá.
8 The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.
O sábio de coração aceita os mandamentos, mas o louco de lábios será transtornado.
9 He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
Quem anda em sinceridade, anda seguro; mas o que perverte os seus caminhos será conhecido.
10 One who winks with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.
O que acena com os olhos dá dores, e o tolo de lábios será transtornado.
11 The mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
A boca do justo é fonte de vida, mas a boca dos ímpios cobre a violência.
12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.
O ódio excita contendas, mas o amor cobre todas as transgressões.
13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
Nos lábios do entendido se acha a sabedoria, mas a vara é para as costas do falto de entendimento.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.
Os sábios escondem a sabedoria; mas a boca do tolo está perto da ruína.
15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
A fazenda do rico é a cidade da sua fortaleza: a pobreza dos pobres é a sua ruína.
16 The labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.
A obra do justo conduz à vida, as novidades do ímpio ao pecado.
17 He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.
O caminho para a vida é daquele que guarda a correção, mas o que deixa a repreensão faz errar.
18 He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
O que encobre o ódio tem lábios falsos, e o que produz má fama é um insensato.
19 In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
Na multidão de palavras não há falta de transgressão, mas o que modera os seus lábios é prudente.
20 The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.
Prata escolhida é a língua do justo: o coração dos ímpios é de nenhum preço.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.
Os lábios do justo apascentam a muitos, mas os tolos, por falta de entendimento, morrem.
22 The LORD’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
A benção do Senhor é a que enriquece; e não lhe acrescenta dores.
23 It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.
Como brincadeira é para o tolo fazer abominação, mas sabedoria para o homem entendido.
24 What the wicked fear will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
O temor do ímpio virá sobre ele, mas o desejo dos justos Deus lhe cumprirá.
25 When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.
Como passa a tempestade, assim o ímpio mais não é; mas o justo tem perpétuo fundamento.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
Como vinagre para os dentes, como o fumo para os olhos, assim é o preguiçoso para aqueles que o mandam.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
O temor do Senhor aumenta os dias, mas os anos dos ímpios serão abreviados.
28 The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
A esperança dos justos é alegria, mas a expectação dos ímpios perecerá.
29 The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
O caminho do Senhor é fortaleza para os retos, mas ruína será para os que obram iniquidade.
30 The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
O justo nunca jamais será abalado, mas os ímpios não habitarão a terra.
31 The mouth of the righteous produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
A boca do justo em abundância produz sabedoria, mas a língua da perversidade será desarreigada.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
Os beiços do justo sabem o que agrada, mas a boca dos ímpios anda cheia de perversidades.
