Matthew 19
1 When Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.
Και ότε ετελείωσεν ο Ιησούς τους λόγους τούτους, ανεχώρησεν από της Γαλιλαίας και ήλθεν εις τα όρια της Ιουδαίας πέραν του Ιορδάνου.
2 Great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there.
Και ηκολούθησαν αυτόν όχλοι πολλοί, και εθεράπευσεν αυτούς εκεί.
3 Pharisees came to him, testing him and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”
Και ήλθον προς αυτόν οι Φαρισαίοι, πειράζοντες αυτόν και λέγοντες προς αυτόν· Συγχωρείται εις τον άνθρωπον να χωρισθή την γυναίκα αυτού διά πάσαν αιτίαν;
4 He answered, “Have not you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,
Ο δε αποκριθείς είπε προς αυτούς· Δεν ανεγνώσατε ότι ο πλάσας απ' αρχής άρσεν και θήλυ έπλασεν αυτούς
5 and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh’?
και είπεν, Ένεκεν τούτου θέλει αφήσει άνθρωπος τον πατέρα και την μητέρα και θέλει προσκολληθή εις την γυναίκα αυτού, και θέλουσιν είσθαι οι δύο εις σάρκα μίαν;
6 So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, do not let man tear apart.”
Ώστε δεν είναι πλέον δύο, αλλά μία σαρξ. Εκείνο λοιπόν το οποίον ο Θεός συνέζευξεν, άνθρωπος ας μη χωρίζη.
7 They asked him, “Why then did Moses command us to give her a certificate of divorce and divorce her?”
Λέγουσι προς αυτόν· Διά τι λοιπόν ο Μωϋσής προσέταξε να δώση έγγραφον διαζυγίου και να χωρισθή αυτήν;
8 He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so.
Λέγει προς αυτούς· Διότι ο Μωϋσής διά την σκληροκαρδίαν σας συνεχώρησεν εις εσάς να χωρίζησθε τας γυναίκάς σας· απ' αρχής όμως δεν έγεινεν ούτω.
9 I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.”
Σας λέγω δε ότι όστις χωρισθή την γυναίκα αυτού εκτός διά πορνείαν και νυμφευθή άλλην, γίνεται μοιχός· και όστις νυμφευθή γυναίκα κεχωρισμένην, γίνεται μοιχός.
10 His disciples said to him, “If this is the case of the man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.”
Λέγουσι προς αυτόν οι μαθηταί αυτού· Εάν ούτως έχη η υποχρέωσις του ανδρός προς την γυναίκα, δεν συμφέρει να νυμφευθή.
11 But he said to them, “Not all men can receive this saying, but those to whom it is given.
Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς· Δεν δύνανται πάντες να δεχθώσι τον λόγον τούτον, αλλ' εις όσους είναι δεδομένον.
12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.”
Διότι είναι ευνούχοι, οίτινες εκ κοιλίας μητρός εγεννήθησαν ούτω, και είναι ευνούχοι, οίτινες ευνουχίσθησαν υπό των ανθρώπων, και είναι ευνούχοι, οίτινες ευνούχισαν εαυτούς διά την βασιλείαν των ουρανών. Όστις δύναται να δεχθή τούτο, ας δεχθή.
13 Then little children were brought to him that he should lay his hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.
Τότε εφέρθησαν προς αυτόν παιδία, διά να επιθέση τας χείρας επ' αυτά και να ευχηθή· οι δε μαθηταί επέπληξαν αυτά.
14 But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and do not forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”
Πλην ο Ιησούς είπεν· Αφήσατε τα παιδία και μη εμποδίζετε αυτά να έλθωσι προς εμέ· διότι των τοιούτων είναι η βασιλεία των ουρανών.
15 He laid his hands on them, and departed from there.
Και αφού επέθηκεν επ' αυτά τας χείρας, ανεχώρησεν εκείθεν.
16 Behold, one came to him and said, "Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have consummate (aiōnios g166) life?"
Και ιδού, προσελθών τις είπε προς αυτόν· Διδάσκαλε αγαθέ, τι καλόν να πράξω διά να έχω ζωήν αιώνιον; (aiōnios g166)
17 He said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
Ο δε είπε προς αυτόν· Τι με λέγεις αγαθόν; ουδείς αγαθός ειμή εις, ο Θεός. Αλλ' εάν θέλης να εισέλθης εις την ζωήν, φύλαξον τας εντολάς.
18 He said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder.’ ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘You shall not steal.’ ‘You shall not offer false testimony.’
Λέγει προς αυτόν· Ποίας; Και ο Ιησούς είπε· Το μη φονεύσης, μη μοιχεύσης, μη κλέψης, μη ψευδομαρτυρήσης,
19 ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”
τίμα τον πατέρα σου και την μητέρα, και θέλεις αγαπά τον πλησίον σου ως σεαυτόν.
20 The young man said to him, “All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?”
Λέγει προς αυτόν ο νεανίσκος· Πάντα ταύτα εφύλαξα εκ νεότητός μου· τι μοι λείπει έτι;
21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Είπε προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Εάν θέλης να ήσαι τέλειος, ύπαγε, πώλησον τα υπάρχοντά σου και δος εις πτωχούς, και θέλεις έχει θησαυρόν εν ουρανώ, και ελθέ, ακολούθει μοι.
22 But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.
Ακούσας δε ο νεανίσκος τον λόγον, ανεχώρησε λυπούμενος· διότι είχε κτήματα πολλά.
23 Jesus said to his disciples, “Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.
Και ο Ιησούς είπε προς τους μαθητάς αυτού· Αληθώς σας λέγω ότι δυσκόλως θέλει εισέλθει πλούσιος εις την βασιλείαν των ουρανών.
24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”
Και πάλιν σας λέγω, Ευκολώτερον είναι να περάση κάμηλος διά τρυπήματος βελόνης παρά πλούσιος να εισέλθη εις την βασιλείαν του Θεού.
25 When the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
Ακούσαντες δε οι μαθηταί αυτού εξεπλήττοντο σφόδρα, λέγοντες· Τις λοιπόν δύναται να σωθή;
26 Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Εμβλέψας δε ο Ιησούς, είπε προς αυτούς· Παρά ανθρώποις τούτο αδύνατον είναι, παρά τω Θεώ όμως τα πάντα είναι δυνατά.
27 Then Peter answered, “Behold, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?”
Τότε αποκριθείς ο Πέτρος, είπε προς αυτόν· Ιδού, ημείς αφήκαμεν πάντα και σοι ηκολουθήσαμεν· τι λοιπόν θέλει είσθαι εις ημάς;
28 Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Ο δε Ιησούς είπε προς αυτούς· Αληθώς σας λέγω ότι σεις οι ακολουθήσαντές μοι, εν τη παλιγγενεσία, όταν καθήση ο Υιός του ανθρώπου επί του θρόνου της δόξης αυτού, θέλετε καθήσει και σεις επί δώδεκα θρόνους κρίνοντες τας δώδεκα φυλάς του Ισραήλ.
29 Everyone who has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, will receive one hundred times, and will inherit consummate (aiōnios g166) life.
Και πας όστις αφήκεν οικίας ή αδελφούς ή αδελφάς ή πατέρα ή μητέρα ή γυναίκα ή τέκνα ή αγρούς ένεκεν του ονόματός μου, εκατονταπλάσια θέλει λάβει και ζωήν αιώνιον θέλει κληρονομήσει. (aiōnios g166)
30 But many will be last who are first, and first who are last.
Πολλοί όμως πρώτοι θέλουσιν είσθαι έσχατοι και έσχατοι πρώτοι.
