Luke 14
1 When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.
イエス安息 日に食事せんとて、或パリサイ人の頭の家に入り給へば、人々これを窺ふ。
2 Behold, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.
視よ、御前に水腫をわづらふ人ゐたれば、
3 Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
イエス答へて教法師とパリサイ人とに言ひたまふ『安息 日に人を醫すことは善しや、否や』
4 But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.
かれら默然たり。イエスその人を執り、醫して去らしめ、
5 He answered them, “Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, would not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?”
且かれらに言ひ給ふ『なんぢらの中その子あるひは其の牛、井に陷らんに、安息 日には直ちに之を引揚げぬ者あるか』
6 They could not answer him regarding these things.
彼 等これに對して物 言ふこと能はず。
7 He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,
イエス招かれたる者の上席をえらぶを見、譬をかたりて言ひ給ふ、
8 “When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him,
『なんぢ婚筵に招かるるとき、上席に著くな。恐らくは汝よりも貴き人の招かれんに、
9 and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.
汝と彼とを招きたる者きたりて「この人に席を讓れ」と言はん。さらば其の時なんぢ恥ぢて末席に往きはじめん。
10 But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.
招かるるとき、寧ろ往きて末席に著け、さらば招きたる者きたりて「友よ、上に進め」と言はん。その時なんぢ同席の者の前に譽あるべし。
11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”
凡そおのれを高うする者は卑うせられ、己を卑うする者は高うせらるるなり』
12 He also said to the one who had invited him, “When you make a dinner or a supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.
また己を招きたる者にも言ひ給ふ『なんぢ晝餐または夕餐を設くるとき、朋友・兄弟・親族・富める隣 人などをよぶな。恐らくは彼らも亦なんぢを招きて報をなさん。
13 But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind;
饗宴を設くる時は、寧ろ貧しき者・不具・跛者・盲人などを招け。
14 and you will be blessed, because they do not have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.”
彼らは報ゆること能はぬ故に、なんぢ幸福なるべし。正しき者の復活の時に報いらるるなり』
15 When one of those who sat at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will feast in God’s Kingdom!”
同席の者の一人これらの事を聞きてイエスに言ふ『おほよそ神の國にて食事する者は幸福なり』
16 But he said to him, “A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.
之に言ひたまふ『或 人、盛なる夕餐を設けて、多くの人を招く。
17 He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited, ‘Come, for everything is ready now.’
夕餐の時いたりて、招きおきたる者の許に僕を遣して「來れ、既に備りたり」と言はしめたるに、
18 They all as one began to make excuses. “The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.’
皆ひとしく辭りはじむ。初の者いふ「われ田地を買へり。往きて見ざるを得ず。請ふ、許されんことを」
19 “Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.’
他の者いふ「われ五 耜の牛を買へり、之を驗すために往くなり。請ふ、許されんことを」
20 “Another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’
また他も者いふ「われ妻を娶れり、此の故に往くこと能はず」
21 “That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.’
僕かへりて此 等の事をその主人に告ぐ、家主いかりて僕に言ふ「とく町の大路と小路とに往きて、貧しき者・不具 者・盲人・跛者などを此處に連れきたれ」
22 “The servant said, ‘Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.’
僕いふ「主よ、仰のごとく爲したれど、尚ほ餘の席あり」
23 “The lord said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
主人、僕に言ふ「道や籬の邊にゆき、人々を強ひて連れきたり、我が家に充たしめよ。
24 For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper. For many are called, but few are chosen.’”
われ汝らに告ぐ、かの招きおきたる者のうち、一人だに我が夕餐を味ひ得る者なし」』
25 Now great multitudes were going with him. He turned and said to them,
さて大なる群衆イエスに伴ひゆきたれば、顧みて之に言ひたまふ、
26 “If anyone comes to me, and does not disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
『人もし我に來りて、その父 母・妻 子・兄弟・姉妹・己が生命までも憎まずば、我が弟子となるを得ず。
27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
また己が十字架を負ひて我に從ふ者ならでは、我が弟子となるを得ず。
28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?
汝らの中たれか櫓を築かんと思はば、先づ坐して其の費をかぞへ、己が所有、竣工までに足るか否かを計らざらんや。
29 Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,
然らずして基を据ゑ、もし成就すること能はずば、見る者みな嘲笑ひて、
30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
「この人は築きかけて成就すること能はざりき」と言はん。
31 Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
又いづれの王か出でて他の王と戰爭をせんに、先づ坐して、此の一萬 人をもて、かの二萬 人を率ゐきたる者に對ひ得るか否か籌らざらんや。
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks for conditions of peace.
もし及かずば、敵なほ遠く隔るうちに、使を遣して和睦を請ふべし。
33 So therefore, whoever of you who does not renounce all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.
かくのごとく、汝らの中その一切の所有を退くる者ならでは、我が弟子となるを得ず。
34 “Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?
鹽は善きものなり、然れど鹽もし效力を失はば、何によりてか味つけられん。
35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
土にも肥料にも適せず、外に棄てらるるなり。聽く耳ある者は聽くべし』
