Judges 14
1 Samson went down to Timnah, and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines.
एक समय पर, जब शिमशोन तिमनाह नगर को गया हुआ था, उसने वहां एक फिलिस्तीनी कन्या देखी.
2 He came up, and told his father and his mother, saying, “I have seen a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines. Now therefore get her for me as my wife.”
वहां से लौटने पर उसने अपने माता-पिता से कहा, “तिमनाह में मैंने एक फिलिस्तीनी लड़की देखी है; उससे मेरा विवाह कर दीजिए.”
3 Then his father and his mother said to him, “Is not there a woman among your brothers’ daughters, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines?” Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she pleases me well.”
उसके माता-पिता ने उत्तर में उससे कहा, “तुम्हारे संबंधियों में, अथवा हमारे सजातियों में क्या कोई भी लड़की नहीं है, कि तुम्हें ख़तना रहित फिलिस्तीनियों में की पुत्री से विवाह करने की सूझी है?” किंतु शिमशोन ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “मेरा विवाह उसी से कर दीजिए, मुझे वही भा गई है.”
4 But his father and his mother did not know that it was of the LORD; for he sought an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines ruled over Israel.
यद्यपि उसके माता-पिता को यह मालूम न था कि यह याहवेह की योजना थी, क्योंकि वह फिलिस्तीनियों से बदले का अवसर खोज रहा था, इस समय फिलिस्ती इस्राएल पर शासन कर रहे थे.
5 Then Samson went down to Timnah with his father and his mother, and came to the vineyards of Timnah; and behold, a young lion roared at him.
शिमशोन अपने माता-पिता के साथ तिमनाह गया. जब वे तिमनाह के अंगूरों के बगीचों तक पहुंचे, एक जवान शेर दहाड़ता हुआ उस पर लपका.
6 The LORD’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he tore him as he would have torn a young goat with his bare hands, but he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done.
बड़ी सामर्थ्य के साथ याहवेह का आत्मा उस पर उतरा. शिमशोन ने उसे इस रीति से फाड़ डाला, जैसे कोई एक मेमने को फाड़ देता है, जबकि शिमशोन के हाथों में कोई भी हथियार न था. इस काम की चर्चा उसने अपने माता-पिता से नहीं की.
7 He went down and talked with the woman, and she pleased Samson well.
उसने जाकर उस स्त्री से बातचीत की. वह उसे प्रिय लगी.
8 After a while he returned to take her, and he went over to see the carcass of the lion; and behold, there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey.
कुछ समय बाद उस कन्या से विवाह करने के लिए वह तिमनाह लौटा. शेर का शव देखने के लिए मार्ग से मुड़ा. उसने देखा कि शेर के शव में मधुमक्खियों का छत्ता तथा उसमें शहद लगा हुआ था.
9 He took it into his hands, and went on, eating as he went. He came to his father and mother and gave to them, and they ate, but he did not tell them that he had taken the honey out of the lion’s body.
उसने अपने हाथों में वह शहद ले लिया और उसे खाता हुआ आगे बढ़ गया. जब वह अपने माता-पिता के पास पहुंचा, उसने उन्हें भी वह शहद दिया और उन्होंने भी उसे खाया, किंतु शिमशोन ने उन्हें यह न बताया कि उसने यह मधु शेर के शव में से निकाला था.
10 His father went down to the woman; and Samson made a feast there, for the young men used to do so.
तब उसका पिता उस स्त्री के घर पर पहुंचा. शिमशोन ने वहां एक भोज आयोजित किया, जैसा कि वहां के युवकों की रीति थी.
11 When they saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him.
जब उन्होंने देखा और उन्होंने उसके साथ साथ रहने के लिए तीस युवक चुन दिए.
12 Samson said to them, “Let me tell you a riddle now. If you can tell me the answer within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing;
शिमशोन ने उनसे कहा, “मैं तुम्हारे विचारने के लिए एक पहेली देता हूं; यदि तुम विवाहोत्सव के सात दिन के भीतर यह पहेली का समझ बूझ कर मुझे इसका उत्तर दे दोगे, तो मैं तुम्हें मलमल के तीस बाहरी वस्त्र और तीस जोड़े कपड़े दूंगा.
13 but if you cannot tell me the answer, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing.” They said to him, “Tell us your riddle, that we may hear it.”
मगर, यदि तुम इसका उत्तर न दे सको, तो तुम्हें मुझे तीस बाहरी वस्त्र और तीस जोड़े कपड़े देना पड़ेंगे.” उन्होंने उत्तर दिया, “पेश करो अपनी पहेली, हम सुन रहे हैं.”
14 He said to them, “Out of the eater came out food. Out of the strong came out sweetness.” They could not in three days declare the riddle.
शिमशोन ने कहा, “खानेवाले में से भोजन, तथा बलवंत में से मिठास.” तीन दिन बीत गए मगर इस पहेली का उत्तर वे न दे सके.
15 On the seventh day, they said to Samson’s wife, “Entice your husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father’s house with fire. Have you called us to impoverish us? Is not that so?”
चौथे दिन उन्होंने शिमशोन की पत्नी से कहा, “अपने पति को फुसलाओ, कि वह उस पहेली का मतलब हमें बता दे. अगर नहीं, तो हम तुम्हें और तुम्हारे पिता के घर को आग लगा देंगे, क्या हमें आमंत्रित करने में तुम्हारी मंशा हमें कंगाल कर देने की थी? क्या यही सच नहीं?”
16 Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, “You just hate me, and do not love me. You have told a riddle to the children of my people, and have not told it to me.” He said to her, “Behold, I have not told my father or my mother, so why should I tell you?”
शिमशोन की पत्नी उसके सामने रोने लगी. और उसने शिमशोन से कहा, “तुम तो मुझसे नफरत करते हो. तुम्हें मुझसे प्रेम है ही नहीं. मेरे जाति वाले युवाओं के सामने तुमने पहेली प्रस्तुत की, और मुझे इसका हल नहीं बताया.” शिमशोन ने साफ़ किया, “देखो, इसका हल तो मैंने अपने माता-पिता तक को नहीं बताया है, क्या मैं यह तुम्हें बता दूं?”
17 She wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted; and on the seventh day, he told her, because she pressed him severely; and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
फिर भी सातों दिन, जब तक विवाहोत्सव चलता रहा, वह रोती रही. अंत में सातवें दिन शिमशोन ने उसे पहेली का हल बता ही दिया; उसकी पत्नी ने उसे इस सीमा तक तंग कर दिया था. उसने जाकर अपने जाति वाले युवकों को पहेली का उत्तर जा सुनाया.
18 The men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down, “What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?” He said to them, “If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have found out my riddle.”
सातवें दिन सूरज डूबने के पहले, उन नगरवासियों ने जाकर शिमशोन से कहा, “क्या हो सकता है शहद से मीठा? कौन है शेर से अधिक बलवान? “शिमशोन ने उनसे कहा, “यदि तुमने मेरी बछिया से खेत न जोता होता, तो मेरी पहेली का उत्तर बिन सुलझा ही रहता.”
19 The LORD’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he went down to Ashkelon and struck thirty men of them. He took their plunder, then gave the changes of clothing to those who declared the riddle. His anger burned, and he went up to his father’s house.
तब बड़ी ही सामर्थ्य के साथ याहवेह का आत्मा शिमशोन पर उतरी. वह अश्कलोन गया, तीस व्यक्तियों को मार गिराया, उनका सामान इकट्ठा कर उसने वे कपड़े उन्हें दिए, जिन्होंने उस पहेली का उत्तर दे दिया था. उसका क्रोध भड़कता हुआ वह अपने पिता के घर को लौट गया.
20 But Samson’s wife was given to his companion, who had been his friend.
शिमशोन की पत्नी उसके उस साथी को दे दी गई, जो उसका मित्र था.
