< Job 18 >

1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,
Pea naʻe toki tali ʻe Pilitati mei Suaa, ʻo ne pehē,
2 “How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.
“ʻE fēfē hono fuoloa pea ke fakangata ʻae lea? Tokanga, pea te mau toki lea.
3 Why are we counted as animals, which have become unclean in your sight?
Ko e hā kuo lau ai ʻakimautolu ko e fanga manu, pea lau ko e ʻuli ʻi ho ʻao?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger, will the earth be forsaken for you? Or will the rock be removed out of its place?
‌ʻOku ne haehae ia ʻe ia pe ʻi heʻene ʻita: ʻe liʻaki ʻa māmani koeʻuhi ko koe? Pea ʻe hiki ʻae fuʻu makatuʻu mei hono potu?
5 “Yes, the light of the wicked will be put out. The spark of his fire will not shine.
“Ko e moʻoni, ʻe tāmateʻi ʻae maama ʻoe angahala, pea ʻe ʻikai ulo ʻae kalofiama ʻo ʻene afi.
6 The light will be dark in his tent. His lamp above him will be put out.
‌ʻE fakapoʻuli ʻae maama ʻi hono fale, pea ʻe tāmateʻi ʻa ʻene maama fakataha mo ia.
7 The steps of his strength will be shortened. His own counsel will cast him down.
‌ʻE fakaʻapiʻapi ʻae lakaʻanga ʻo hono mālohi, pea ʻe lī ki lalo ia ʻe heʻene fakakaukau ʻaʻana.
8 For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he wanders into its mesh.
He ko hono kauvaʻe ʻoʻona kuo ne lī ia ki he kupenga, pea ʻoku ne ʻeveʻeva ʻi he funga tauhele.
9 A snare will take him by the heel. A trap will catch him.
‌ʻE moʻua ia ʻe he hele ʻi hono muivaʻe, pea ʻe ikuna ia ʻe he kaihaʻa.
10 A noose is hidden for him in the ground, a trap for him on the path.
Kuo ʻai ʻae tauhele kiate ia ʻi he kelekele, mo e sokitanu kiate ia ʻi he hala.
11 Terrors will make him afraid on every side, and will chase him at his heels.
‌ʻE fakamanavahēʻi ia ʻe he ngaahi meʻa fakailifia mei he potu kotoa pē, pea ʻe fakaveʻevave ia.
12 His strength will be famished. Calamity will be ready at his side.
‌ʻE kai ʻe he fiekaia ʻa hono mālohi, pea ʻe tali ofi ʻae fakaʻauha ki hono vakavaka.
13 The members of his body will be devoured. The firstborn of death will devour his members.
‌ʻE fakaʻauha ʻe ia ʻae mālohi ʻo hono sino: ʻio, ko e ʻuluaki fānau ʻoe mate te ne fakaʻauha ʻene mālohi.
14 He will be rooted out of the security of his tent. He will be brought to the king of terrors.
‌ʻE lī kituʻa mei hono fale ʻa hono falalaʻanga, pea ko ia ʻe ʻomi ia ki he tuʻi ʻoe fakailifia.
15 There will dwell in his tent that which is none of his. Sulfur will be scattered on his habitation.
‌ʻE nofo ia ʻi hono fale, he ʻoku ʻikai ʻoʻona ia: ʻe tūtuuʻi ki hono ʻapi ʻae sulifa.
16 His roots will be dried up beneath. His branch will be cut off above.
‌ʻE mōmoa mei lalo hono ngaahi aka, pea ʻe motuhi mei ʻolunga ʻa hono vaʻa.
17 His memory will perish from the earth. He will have no name in the street.
Ko hono manatuʻi ʻe ʻauha mei he fonua, pea ʻe ʻikai hano hingoa ʻi he hala.
18 He will be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
‌ʻE kapusi ia mei he maama ki he poʻuli, pea ʻe tulia ia mei he māmani.
19 He will have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any remaining where he lived.
‌ʻE ʻikai maʻu ʻe ia ha foha pe mokopuna ʻi hono kakai, ʻe ʻikai toe ha niʻihi ʻi hono ngaahi fale.
20 Those who come after will be astonished at his day, as those who went before were frightened.
Ko kinautolu ʻe muimui ʻiate ia te nau ofo ki hono ʻaho, ʻo hangē ko e ilifia ʻanautolu naʻa nau feangai.
21 Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous. This is the place of him who does not know God.”
Ko e moʻoni ʻoku pehē pe ʻae ngaahi nofoʻanga ʻoe angahala, pea ko eni ʻae potu ʻo ia ʻoku taʻeʻiloʻi ʻae ʻOtua.”
