Jeremiah 20
1 Now Pashhur, the son of Immer the priest, who was chief officer in the LORD’s house, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things.
E Pashur, filho de Immer, o sacerdote, que havia sido nomeado presidente na casa do Senhor, ouviu a Jeremias, que prophetizava estas palavras.
2 Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the LORD’s house.
E feriu Pashur ao propheta Jeremias, e o metteu no cepo que está na porta superior de Benjamin, a qual está na casa do Senhor.
3 On the next day, Pashhur released Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, “The LORD has not called your name Pashhur, but Magormissabib.
E succedeu que no dia seguinte Pashur tirou a Jeremias do cepo. Então disse-lhe Jeremias: O Senhor não chama o teu nome Pashur, mas Magor-missabib.
4 For the LORD says, ‘Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon, and will kill them with the sword.
Porque assim diz o Senhor: Eis que farei de ti um espanto para ti mesmo, e para todos os teus amigos, e cairão á espada de seus inimigos, e teus olhos o verão: a todo o Judah entregarei na mão do rei de Babylonia, e leval-os-ha presos a Babylonia, e feril-os-ha á espada.
5 Moreover I will give all the riches of this city, and all its gains, and all its precious things, yes, I will give all the treasures of the kings of Judah into the hand of their enemies. They will make them captives, take them, and carry them to Babylon.
Tambem darei toda a fazenda d'esta cidade, e todo o seu trabalho, e todas as suas coisas preciosas, e todos os thesouros dos reis de Judah entregarei na mão de seus inimigos, e saqueal-os-hão, e tomal-os-hão e leval-os-hão a Babylonia.
6 You, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house will go into captivity. You will come to Babylon, and there you will die, and there you will be buried, you, and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied falsely.’”
E tu, Pashur, e todos os moradores da tua casa ireis para o captiveiro; e virás a Babylonia, e ali morrerás, e ali serás sepultado, tu, e todos os teus amigos, aos quaes prophetizaste falsamente.
7 LORD, you have persuaded me, and I was persuaded. You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day. Everyone mocks me.
Persuadiste-me, ó Senhor, e persuadido fiquei; mais forte foste do que eu, e prevaleceste: sirvo de escarneo todo o dia, cada um d'elles zomba de mim.
8 For as often as I speak, I cry out; I cry, “Violence and destruction!” because the LORD’s word has been made a reproach to me, and a derision, all day.
Porque desde que fallo, grito; clamo violencia e destruição; porque se tornou a palavra do Senhor em opprobrio e em ludibrio todo o dia.
9 If I say that I will not make mention of him, or speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones. I am weary with holding it in. I cannot.
Então disse eu: Não me lembrarei d'elle, e não fallarei mais no seu nome; mas foi no meu coração como fogo ardente, encerrado nos meus ossos; e fiquei fatigado de soffrer, e não pude.
10 For I have heard the defaming of many: “Terror on every side! Denounce, and we will denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall. “Perhaps he will be persuaded, and we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.”
Porque ouvi a murmuração de muitos ácerca de Magor-missabib, que diziam: Denunciae-nol-o, e o denunciaremos; todos os que teem paz comigo aguardam o meu manquejar, dizendo: Bem pode ser que se deixará persuadir; então prevaleceremos contra elle e nos vingaremos d'elle.
11 But the LORD is with me as an awesome mighty one. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and they will not prevail. They will be utterly disappointed because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which will never be forgotten.
Porém o Senhor está comigo como um valente terrivel; por isso tropeçarão os meus perseguidores, e não prevalecerão: ficarão mui confundidos; porque não se houveram prudentemente, terão uma confusão perpetua que nunca se esquecerá
12 But the LORD of Armies, who tests the righteous, who sees the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.
Tu pois, ó Senhor dos Exercitos, que esquadrinhas ao justo, e vês os rins e o coração, veja eu a tua vingança d'elles; pois já te descobri a minha causa
13 Sing to the LORD! Praise the LORD, for he has delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evildoers.
Cantae ao Senhor, louvae ao Senhor; pois livrou a alma do necessitado da mão dos malfeitores.
14 Cursed is the day in which I was born. Do not let the day in which my mother bore me be blessed.
Maldito o dia em que nasci: o dia em que minha mãe me pariu não seja bemdito.
15 Cursed is the man who brought news to my father, saying, “A boy is born to you,” making him very glad.
Maldito o homem que deu as novas a meu pae, dizendo: Nasceu-te um filho macho; alegrando-o grandemente.
16 Let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and did not repent. Let him hear a cry in the morning, and shouting at noontime,
E seja esse homem como as cidades que o Senhor destruiu e não se arrependeu: e ouça clamor pela manhã, e ao tempo do meio-dia um alarido.
17 because he did not kill me from the womb. So my mother would have been my grave, and her womb always great.
Porque não me matou desde a madre? ou minha mãe não foi minha sepultura? ou porque não ficou a sua madre gravida perpetuamente?
18 Why did I come out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
Porque sahi da madre, para ver trabalho e tristeza? para que se consumam os meus dias na confusão.
