< James 4 >

1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Do not they come from your pleasures that war in your members?
ⲁ̅ⲀⲢⲈ ⲠⲞⲖⲈⲘⲞⲤ ⲚⲎⲞⲨ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ⲐⲰⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲢⲈⲘⲖⲀϦ ⲚⲎⲞⲨ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ⲐⲰⲚ ϦⲈⲚⲐⲎⲚⲞⲨ ⲘⲎ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲀⲒ ⲀⲚ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲈⲦⲈⲚϨⲨⲆⲞⲚⲎ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲦϦⲎⲔ ⲈϦⲢⲎⲒ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲈⲦⲈⲚⲘⲈⲖⲞⲤ
2 You lust, and do not have. You murder and covet, and cannot obtain. You fight and make war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
ⲃ̅ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚⲈⲢⲈⲠⲒⲐⲨⲘⲒⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲘⲘⲞⲚ ⲚⲦⲞⲦⲈⲚ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚϦⲰⲦⲈⲂ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚⲬⲞϨ ⲘⲘⲞⲚ ϢϪⲞⲘ ⲘⲘⲰⲦⲈⲚ ⲈϢⲀϢⲚⲒ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚϢϬⲚⲎⲚ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚⲈⲢⲠⲞⲖⲈⲘⲒⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲘⲘⲞⲚ ⲚⲦⲞⲦⲈⲚ ⲈⲐⲂⲈ ϪⲈ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚⲈⲢⲈⲦⲒⲚ ⲀⲚ
3 You ask, and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
ⲅ̅ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚⲈⲢⲈⲦⲒⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚϬⲒ ⲀⲚ ϪⲈ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚⲈⲢⲈⲦⲒⲚ ⲚⲔⲀⲔⲰⲤ ϨⲒⲚⲀ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲈⲦⲈⲚϨⲨⲆⲞⲚⲎ ⲚⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚϬⲞ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ
4 You adulterers and adulteresses, do not you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
ⲇ̅ⲚⲒⲚⲰⲒⲔ ⲚⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚⲈⲘⲒ ⲀⲚ ϪⲈ ϮⲘⲈⲦϢⲪⲎⲢ ⲚⲦⲈⲠⲒⲔⲞⲤⲘⲞⲤ ⲞⲨⲘⲈⲦϪⲀϪⲒ ⲦⲈ ⲚⲦⲈⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ ⲪⲎ ⲆⲈ ⲈⲐⲞⲨⲰϢ ⲈⲈⲢϢⲪⲎⲢ ⲈⲠⲒⲔⲞⲤⲘⲞⲤ ϤⲚⲀϢⲰⲠⲒ ⲈϤⲞⲒ ⲚϪⲀϪⲒ ⲈⲪϮ
5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?
ⲉ̅ϢⲀⲚ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚⲈⲘⲒ ⲀⲚ ϪⲈ ⲀⲢⲈ ϮⲄⲢⲀⲪⲎ ϪⲰ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ⲈⲪⲖⲎⲞⲨ ⲒⲈ ϦⲈⲚⲞⲨⲪⲐⲞⲚⲞⲤ ϤϬⲒϢϢⲰⲞⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲒⲠⲚⲈⲨⲘⲀⲪⲎ ⲈⲦϢⲞⲠ ⲚϦⲎⲦⲈⲚ
6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
ⲋ̅ϤϮ ⲆⲈ ⲚⲞⲨⲚⲒϢϮ ⲚϨⲘⲞⲦ ⲈⲐⲂⲈⲪⲀⲒ ϤϪⲰ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ϪⲈ ⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ ϤϮ ⲈϦⲞⲨⲚ ⲈϨⲢⲈⲚ ⲚⲒϬⲀⲤⲒϨⲎⲦ ⲚⲎ ⲆⲈ ⲈⲦⲐⲈⲂⲒⲎⲞⲨⲦ ϤⲚⲀϮ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ⲚⲞⲨϨⲘⲞⲦ
7 Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
ⲍ̅ⲘⲀϬⲚⲈϪⲰⲦⲈⲚ ⲞⲨⲚ ⲘⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ ϮⲆⲈ ⲈϦⲞⲨⲚ ⲈϨⲢⲈⲚ ⲠⲒⲆⲒⲀⲂⲞⲖⲞⲤ ⲈϤⲈⲪⲰⲦ ⲤⲀⲂⲞⲖ ⲘⲘⲰⲦⲈⲚ
8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double-minded.
ⲏ̅ϦⲰⲚⲦ ⲈⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ ⲈϤⲈϦⲰⲚⲦ ⲈⲢⲰⲦⲈⲚ ⲘⲀⲦⲞⲨⲂⲞ ⲚⲈⲦⲈⲚϪⲒϪ ⲚⲒⲢⲈϤⲈⲢⲚⲞⲂⲒ ⲘⲀⲦⲞⲨⲂⲈ ⲚⲈⲦⲈⲚϨⲎⲦ ϦⲀ ⲚⲒϨⲎⲦ Ⲃ-
9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
ⲑ̅ⲀⲢⲒⲦⲀⲖⲈⲠⲰⲢⲒⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲢⲒϨⲎⲂⲒ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲢⲒⲘⲒ ⲠⲈⲦⲈⲚⲤⲰⲂⲒ ⲘⲀⲢⲈϤⲔⲞⲦϤ ⲈⲨϨⲎⲂⲒ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲈⲦⲈⲚⲢⲀϢⲒ ⲈⲨⲞⲔⲈⲘ
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
ⲓ̅ⲘⲀⲐⲈⲂⲒⲈ ⲐⲎⲚⲞⲨ ⲘⲠⲈⲘⲐⲞ ⲘⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ ϨⲒⲚⲀ ⲚⲦⲈϤϬⲈⲤ ⲐⲎⲚⲞⲨ.
11 Do not speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲘⲠⲈⲢⲤⲀϪⲒ ⲚⲤⲀⲚⲈⲦⲈⲚⲈⲢⲎⲞⲨ ⲚⲀⲤⲚⲎⲞⲨ ⲪⲎ ⲄⲀⲢ ⲈⲦⲤⲀϪⲒ ⲠⲈϤⲤⲞⲚ ⲒⲈ ⲈϤϮϨⲀⲠ ⲈⲠⲈϤⲤⲞⲚ ⲀϤⲤⲀϪⲒ ⲚⲤⲀⲠⲒⲚⲞⲘⲞⲤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀϤϮϨⲀⲠ ⲈⲠⲒⲚⲞⲘⲞⲤ ⲒⲤϪⲈ ⲆⲈ ⲔϮϨⲀⲠ ⲈⲠⲒⲚⲞⲘⲞⲤ ⲒⲈ ⲚⲐⲞⲔ ⲞⲨⲢⲈϤⲒⲢⲒ ⲘⲠⲒⲚⲞⲘⲞⲤ ⲀⲚ ⲀⲖⲖⲀ ⲞⲨⲢⲈϤϮ ϨⲀⲠ
12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲞⲨⲀⲒ ⲄⲀⲢ ⲠⲈ ⲠⲒⲚⲞⲘⲞⲐⲈⲦⲎⲤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲢⲈϤϮϨⲀⲠ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ⲞⲨⲞⲚ ϢϪⲞⲘ ⲘⲘⲞϤ ⲈⲦⲞⲨϪⲞ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈⲦⲀⲔⲞ ⲚⲐⲞⲔ ⲚⲒⲘ ⲚⲐⲞⲔ ϦⲀ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦϮϨⲀⲠ ⲈⲠⲈⲔϢⲪⲎⲢ
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.”
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲀⲄⲈ ϮⲚⲞⲨ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲦϪⲰ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ϪⲈ ⲪⲞⲞⲨ ⲒⲈ ⲢⲀⲤϮ ⲦⲈⲚⲚⲀϢⲈ ⲚⲀⲚ ⲈⲦⲀⲒⲠⲞⲖⲒⲤ ⲚⲦⲈⲚⲒⲢⲒ ⲚⲞⲨⲢⲞⲘⲠⲒ ⲘⲘⲀⲨ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲦⲈⲚⲈⲢⲒⲈⲂϢⲰⲦ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲦⲈⲚϪⲈⲘϨⲎⲞⲨ
14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲚⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ⲚⲤⲈⲤⲰⲞⲨⲚ ⲀⲚ ϪⲈ ⲞⲨ ⲠⲈⲐⲚⲀϢⲰⲠⲒ ⲘⲠⲈϤⲢⲀⲤϮ ⲀϢ ⲠⲈ ⲠⲈⲦⲈⲚⲰⲚϦ ⲀϤⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚⲞⲨϢⲰⲒϢ ⲈϤⲞⲨⲞⲚϨ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ⲠⲢⲞⲤ ⲞⲨⲔⲞⲨϪⲒ ⲒⲦⲀ ϢⲀϤⲦⲀⲔⲞ
15 For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲈⲪⲘⲀ ⲚⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚϪⲞⲤ ϪⲈ ⲀⲢⲈϢⲀⲚ ⲠϬⲞⲒⲤ ⲞⲨⲰϢ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲦⲈⲚⲰⲚϦ ⲦⲈⲚⲚⲀⲈⲢ ⲪⲀⲒ ⲒⲈ ⲪⲎ
16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ϮⲚⲞⲨ ⲦⲈⲦⲈⲚϢⲞⲨϢⲞⲨ ⲘⲘⲰⲦⲈⲚ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲈⲦⲈⲚⲘⲈⲦⲢⲈϤϨⲒⲠϨⲞ ϢⲞⲨϢⲞⲨ ⲆⲈ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲘⲠⲀⲒⲢⲎϮ ⲤⲈϨⲰⲞⲨ
17 To him therefore who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲤⲰⲞⲨⲚ ⲚⲞⲨⲠⲈⲐⲚⲀⲚⲈϤ ⲈⲀⲒϤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲦⲈϤϢⲦⲈⲘⲀⲒϤ ⲞⲨⲚⲞⲂⲒ ⲚⲀϤ ⲠⲈ
