< James 4 >
1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Do not they come from your pleasures that war in your members?
Nangmih khuikah caemthoh te me lamkah lae, rhalthohnah me lamkah lae? He lamkah moenih a?
2 You lust, and do not have. You murder and covet, and cannot obtain. You fight and make war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
Na hue uh dae na dang uh moenih, na ngawn uh dae na thatlai uh. Hmuh hamla na coeng uh pawt dongah na hnuei uh thae tih na tloek uh thae. Na bih uh pawt dongah na khueh uh pawh.
3 You ask, and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
Na bih uh dae namamih kah omthenbawnnah neh hnonah ham voek na bih dongah na dang uh pawh.
4 You adulterers and adulteresses, do not you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Samphaih rhoek aw, diklai sanaep tah Pathen kah thunkha ni tila na ming uh moenih a? Diklai kah paya la om ham a ngaih long tah Pathen kah rhal ni a saii coeng.
5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?
Cacim loh, “Mueihla te mamih ah khosak sak ham uetnah neh a rhingda,” a ti te vapsa la na poek uh.
6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
Tedae lungvatnah muep a paek dongah, “Pathen loh buhueng aka pom uh te a pakai tih tlayae te lungvatnah a paek,” a ti.
7 Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Pathen taengla yoei uh lamtah nangmih taengla ha yoei bitni. Tholh kut te cilpoe uh lamtah thinko Cikcok te ciim uh laeh.
9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Cip uh lamtah, nguek uh lamtah rhap uh laeh.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
11 Do not speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
Khat neh khat yan uh thae boeh. Manuca rhoek, a manuca aka yan, manuca te lai aka thui tah olkhueng ni a yan tih olkhueng ni lai a tloek thil.
12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
Olrhikung neh laitloekkung tah pakhat ni. Amah loh khang ham neh a paci sak ham coeng thai. Tedae imben lai aka tloek thil nangmih te u nim.
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.”
“Tihnin neh thangvuen ah hekah kho la n'cet vetih kum khat a thok hil hno n'yoih ni, n'dang ni,” aka ti rhoek te maerhae coeng.
14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
15 For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”
“Boeipa loh a ngaih tih ng'hing uh atah he khaw, ke khaw n'saii uh van bitni,” na ti uh mako.
16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.

17 To him therefore who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
