James 1
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Dispersion: Greetings.
Jakobus, ein Knecht Gottes und des HERRN Jesu Christi, den zwölf Geschlechtern, die da sind hin und her: Freude zuvor!
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,
Meine lieben Brüder, achtet es eitel Freude, wenn ihr in mancherlei Anfechtung fallet,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
und wisset, daß euer Glaube, so er rechtschaffen ist, Geduld wirket.
4 Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Die Geduld aber soll festbleiben bis ans Ende, auf daß ihr seid vollkommen und ganz und keinen Mangel habet.
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
So aber jemand unter euch Weisheit mangelt, der bitte von Gott, der da gibt einfältiglich jedermann und rücket es niemand auf; so wird sie ihm gegeben werden.
6 But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
Er bitte aber im Glauben und zweifle nicht; denn wer da zweifelt, der ist gleich wie die Meereswoge, die vom Winde getrieben und gewebet wird.
7 For that man should not think that he will receive anything from the Lord.
Solcher Mensch denke nicht, daß er etwas von dem HERRN empfangen werde.
8 He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Ein Zweifler ist unbeständig in allen seinen Wegen.
9 Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;
Ein Bruder aber, der niedrig ist, rühme sich seiner Höhe,
10 and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
und der da reich ist, rühme sich seiner Niedrigkeit; denn wie eine Blume des Grases wird er vergehen.
11 For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.
Die Sonne gehet auf mit der Hitze, und das Gras verwelket, und die Blume fällt ab und seine schöne Gestalt verdirbet; also wird der Reiche in seiner Habe verwelken.
12 Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.
Selig ist der Mann, der die Anfechtung erduldet; denn nachdem er bewähret ist, wird er die Krone des Lebens empfangen, welche Gott verheißen hat denen, die ihn liebhaben.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
Niemand sage, wenn er versuchet wird, daß er von Gott versucht werde; denn Gott ist nicht ein Versucher zum Bösen; er versuchet niemand;
14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.
sondern ein jeglicher wird versucht, wenn er von seiner eigenen Lust gereizet und gelocket wird.
15 Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.
Danach, wenn die Lust empfangen hat, gebieret sie die Sünde; die Sünde aber, wenn sie vollendet ist, gebieret sie den Tod.
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.
Irret nicht, liebe Brüder!
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation nor turning shadow.
Alle gute Gabe und alle vollkommene Gabe kommt von oben herab, von dem Vater des Lichts, bei welchem ist keine Veränderung noch Wechsel des Lichts und Finsternis.
18 Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
Er hat uns gezeuget nach seinem Willen durch das Wort der Wahrheit, auf daß wir wären Erstlinge seiner Kreaturen.
19 So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;
Darum, liebe Brüder, ein jeglicher Mensch sei schnell zu hören, langsam aber zu reden und langsam zum Zorn;
20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
denn des Menschen Zorn tut nicht, was vor Gott recht ist.
21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Darum so leget ab alle Unsauberkeit und alle Bosheit und nehmet das Wort an mit Sanftmut, das in euch gepflanzet ist, welches kann eure Seelen selig machen.
22 But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
Seid aber Täter des Worts und nicht Hörer allein, damit ihr euch selbst betrüget.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;
Denn so jemand ist ein Hörer des Worts und nicht ein Täter, der ist gleich einem Mann, der sein leiblich Angesicht im Spiegel beschauet;
24 for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
denn nachdem er sich beschauet hat, gehet er von Stund' an davon und vergisset, wie er gestaltet war.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.
Wer aber durchschauet in das voll kommene Gesetz der Freiheit und darinnen beharret und ist nicht ein vergeßlicher Hörer, sondern ein Täter, derselbige wird selig sein in seiner Tat.
26 If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
So aber sich jemand unter euch lässet dünken, er diene Gott, und hält seine Zunge nicht im Zaum, sondern verführet sein Herz, des Gottesdienst ist eitel.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
Ein reiner und unbefleckter Gottesdienst vor Gott dem Vater ist der: die Waisen und Witwen in ihrer Trübsal besuchen und sich von der Welt unbefleckt behalten.
