< Isaiah 42 >

1 “Behold, my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights: I have put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.
“Vakai ki heʻeku tamaioʻeiki, ʻaia ʻoku ou poupou; ʻaia kuo u fili, pea ʻoku fiefia ʻiate ia hoku laumālie; kuo u tuku hoku laumālie kiate ia: te ne fakahā ʻae fakamaau ki he ngaahi Senitaile.
2 He will not shout, nor raise his voice, nor cause it to be heard in the street.
‌ʻE ʻikai te ne tangi, pe hiki hake hono leʻo, pe fakaongo atu ia ʻi he hala.
3 He will not break a bruised reed. He will not quench a dimly burning wick. He will faithfully bring justice.
‌ʻE ʻikai te ne fesiʻi ha kaho kuo volu, pe tāmateʻi ʻae maama ʻoku kohu: te ne ʻomi ʻae fakamaau ki he moʻoni.
4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, until he has set justice in the earth, and the islands wait for his law.”
‌ʻE ʻikai te ne vaivai pe manavasiʻi, kaeʻoua ke ne fokotuʻu ʻae fakamaau ʻi māmani: pea ʻe tatali ʻae ngaahi motu ki heʻene fono.”
5 God the LORD, he who created the heavens and stretched them out, he who spread out the earth and that which comes out of it, he who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk in it, says:
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe he ʻOtua ko Sihova, ʻaia naʻa ne fakatupu ʻae ngaahi langi, pea folahi atu ia; ko ia naʻe mafola atu ʻae fonua, pea mo ia ʻoku tupu ai; ko ia ʻoku foaki ʻae mānava ki he kakai ʻi he funga ʻo ia, mo e laumālie kiate kinautolu ʻoku ʻeveʻeva ʻi ai:
6 “I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness. I will hold your hand. I will keep you, and make you a covenant for the people, as a light for the nations,
“Ko au ko Sihova naʻaku ui koe ʻi he māʻoniʻoni, pea te u puke ho nima, pea tauhi koe, pea foaki koe ko e fuakava ʻoe kakai, ko e maama ki he ngaahi Senitaile;
7 to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoners out of the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness out of the prison.
Ke fakaʻā ʻae mata ʻoe kui, ke ʻomi ʻae kau pōpula mei he fale fakapōpula, pea ko kinautolu ʻoku nofo ʻi he poʻuli mei he fale fakapōpula.
8 “I am the LORD. That is my name. I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to engraved images.
“Ko au ko Sihova: ko hoku huafa ia: pea ko hoku nāunau ʻe ʻikai te u foaki ki ha taha, pe ko hoku fakamālō ki he ngaahi tamapua kuo tongi.
9 Behold, the former things have happened and I declare new things. I tell you about them before they come up.”
Vakai, kuo hoko ʻae ngaahi meʻa muʻa, pea ʻoku ou fakahā ʻae ngaahi meʻa foʻou: ʻi he teʻeki ke hoko ʻoku ou fakahā ia kiate kimoutolu.
10 Sing to the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the islands and their inhabitants.
Hiva kia Sihova ʻaki ʻae hiva foʻou, pea mo hono fakamālō mei he ngataʻanga ʻo māmani, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he tahi, pea mo ia kotoa pē ʻoku ʻi ai; ʻae ngaahi motu, mo e kakai ʻoku nofo ai.
11 Let the wilderness and its cities raise their voices, with the villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing. Let them shout from the top of the mountains!
Tuku ke hiki hake honau leʻo ʻe he toafa mo e ngaahi kolo, ʻae ngaahi nofoʻanga ʻoku ʻi Keta: tuku ke hiva ʻae ngaahi kakai ʻoe maka, tuku ke nau kalanga mei he tumutumu ʻoe ngaahi moʻunga.
12 Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.
Tuku ke nau ʻatu ʻae ongoongolelei kia Sihova, pea fakahā hono fakamālō ʻi he ngaahi motu.
13 The LORD will go out like a mighty man. He will stir up zeal like a man of war. He will raise a war cry. Yes, he will shout aloud. He will triumph over his enemies.
14 “I have been silent a long time. I have been quiet and restrained myself. Now I will cry out like a travailing woman. I will both gasp and pant.
“Kuo fuoloa mo ʻeku fakalongo pe; naʻaku nofo pe, ʻo taʻofi au: ka te u tangi ni ʻo hangē ha fefine langā; te u fakaʻauha mo maumauʻi hifo fakataha.
15 I will destroy mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs. I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools.
Te u ngaohi ke lala ʻae ngaahi moʻunga mo e potu tafungofunga, pea fakamōmoa ʻae ngaahi ʻakau iiki; pea te u ngaohi ʻae ngaahi vaitafe ko e ngaahi motu, pea te u fakamōmoa mo e ngaahi anovai.
16 I will bring the blind by a way that they do not know. I will lead them in paths that they do not know. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. I will do these things, and I will not forsake them.
Pea te u ʻomi ʻae kui ʻi he hala naʻe ʻikai te nau ʻilo; te u tataki ʻakinautolu ʻi he ngaahi hala naʻe ʻikai te nau ʻilo ki ai: te u ngaohi ʻae poʻuli ko e maama ʻi honau ʻao, mo e ngaahi meʻa pikopiko ke totonu. Ko e ngaahi meʻa ni te u fai kiate kinautolu, ka e ʻikai liʻaki ʻakinautolu.
17 “Those who trust in engraved images, who tell molten images, ‘You are our gods,’ will be turned back. They will be utterly disappointed.
“ʻE fakafoki ki mui ʻakinautolu, ʻe mā lahi, ʻakinautolu ʻoku falala ki he ngaahi tamapua kuo tongi, ʻakinautolu ʻoku pehē ki he ngaahi fakatātā kuo haka, ‘Ko homau ʻotua ʻakimoutolu.’
18 “Hear, you deaf, and look, you blind, that you may see.
“Fanongo, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku tuli; pea sio, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku kui, koeʻuhi ke mou ʻā.
19 Who is blind, but my servant? Or who is as deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is as blind as he who is at peace, and as blind as the LORD’s servant?
20 You see many things, but do not observe. His ears are open, but he does not listen.
‌ʻOku ke mamata ki he ngaahi meʻa lahi, ka ʻoku ʻikai te ke tokangaʻi ia; ʻo fakaava ʻae telinga, ka ʻoku ʻikai te ke fanongo.
21 It pleased the LORD, for his righteousness’ sake, to magnify the law and make it honorable.
‌ʻOku fiemālie lahi ʻa Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene māʻoniʻoni ʻaʻana; te ne hakeakiʻi ʻae fono, pea ngaohi ke ongoongolelei ia.
22 But this is a robbed and plundered people. All of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prisons. They have become captives, and no one delivers, and a plunder, and no one says, ‘Restore them!’
Ka ko e kakai eni kuo faʻao ʻenau ngaahi meʻa, pea kuo vetea ʻakinautolu; kuo moʻua ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻi he ngaahi luo, pea kuo fufū ʻakinautolu ʻi he ngaahi fale fakapōpula: ʻoku pau ke pōpula ʻakinautolu, pea ʻe ʻikai ha taha ke fakamoʻui; kuo faʻao ʻakinautolu, pea ʻoku ʻikai pehē ʻe ha taha, ‘Ke toe ʻomi.’
23 Who is there among you who will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come?
Ko hai ʻiate kimoutolu te ne tokanga ki he meʻa ni? Ko hai te ne fakafanongo pea ongoʻi ʻi he kuonga ʻe hoko mai?
24 Who gave Jacob as plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in his ways, and they disobeyed his law.
Ko hai naʻe tuku ʻa Sēkope ke vetea, pea mo ʻIsileli ki he kau kaihaʻa? ʻIkai ko Sihova, ʻaia kuo tau fai hala ki ai? He naʻe ʻikai te nau fie ʻeveʻeva ʻi hono ngaahi hala, pea naʻe ʻikai te nau talangofua ki heʻene fono.
25 Therefore he poured the fierceness of his anger on him, and the strength of battle. It set him on fire all around, but he did not know. It burned him, but he did not take it to heart.”
Ko ia kuo ne lilingi kiate ia ʻae kakaha ʻo hono houhau, pea mo e mālohi ʻoe tau: pea kuo ne tutu ia ʻo takatakai, ka naʻe ʻikai te ne faʻa ʻilo; pea naʻe vela ia, ka naʻe ʻikai tokanga hono loto ki ai.”
