Isaiah 26
1 In that day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city. God appoints salvation for walls and bulwarks.
その日ユダの国で、この歌をうたう、「われわれは堅固な町をもつ。主は救をその石がきとし、またとりでとされる。
2 Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter: the one which keeps faith.
門を開いて、信仰を守る正しい国民を入れよ。
3 You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.
あなたは全き平安をもってこころざしの堅固なものを守られる。彼はあなたに信頼しているからである。
4 Trust in the LORD forever; for in the LORD, the LORD, is an everlasting Rock.
とこしえに主に信頼せよ、主なる神はとこしえの岩だからである。
5 For he has brought down those who dwell on high, the lofty city. He lays it low. He lays it low even to the ground. He brings it even to the dust.
主は高き所、そびえたつ町に住む者をひきおろし、これを伏させ、これを地に伏させて、ちりにかえされる。
6 The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor and the steps of the needy.”
こうして足で踏まれ、貧しい者の足で踏まれ、乏しい者はその上を歩む」。
7 The way of the just is uprightness. You who are upright make the path of the righteous level.
正しい者の道は平らである。あなたは正しい者の道をなめらかにされる。
8 Yes, in the way of your judgments, LORD, we have waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul.
主よ、あなたがさばきをなさる道で、われわれはあなたを待ち望む。われわれの魂の慕うものは、あなたの記念の名である。
9 With my soul I have desired you in the night. Yes, with my spirit within me I will seek you earnestly; for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
わが魂は夜あなたを慕い、わがうちなる霊は、せつにあなたを求める。あなたのさばきが地に行われるとき、世に住む者は正義を学ぶからである。
10 Let favor be shown to the wicked, yet he will not learn righteousness. In the land of uprightness he will deal wrongfully, and will not see the LORD’s majesty.
悪しき者は恵まれても、なお正義を学ばず、正しい地にあっても不義を行い、主の威光を仰ぐことをしない。
11 LORD, your hand is lifted up, yet they do not see; but they will see your zeal for the people and be disappointed. Yes, fire will consume your adversaries.
主よ、あなたのみ手が高くあがるけれども、彼らはそれを顧みない。どうか、あなたの、おのが民を救われる熱心を彼らに見させて、大いに恥じさせ、火をもってあなたの敵を焼き滅ぼしてください。
12 LORD, you will ordain peace for us, for you have also done all our work for us.
主よ、あなたはわれわれのために平和を設けられる。あなたはわれわれのためにわれわれのすべてのわざをなし遂げられた。
13 LORD our God, other lords besides you have had dominion over us, but we will only acknowledge your name.
われわれの神、主よ、あなた以外のもろもろの主がわれわれを治めた。しかし、われわれはただ、あなたの名のみをあがめる。
14 The dead shall not live. The departed spirits shall not rise. Therefore you have visited and destroyed them, and caused all memory of them to perish.
死んだ者はまた生きない。亡霊は生き返らない。それで、あなたは彼らを罰して滅ぼし、彼らの思い出をことごとく消し去られた。
15 You have increased the nation, O LORD. You have increased the nation! You are glorified! You have enlarged all the borders of the land.
主よ、あなたはこの国民を増し加えられた。あなたはこの国民を増し加えられた。あなたは栄光をあらわされた。あなたは地の境を四方に広げられた。
16 LORD, in trouble they have visited you. They poured out a prayer when your chastening was on them.
主よ、彼らは悩みのとき、あなたに求めた。彼らがあなたの懲しめにあったとき、祈をささげた。
17 Just as a woman with child, who draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain and cries out in her pangs, so we have been before you, LORD.
主よ、はらめる女の産むときが近づいて苦しみ、その痛みによって叫ぶように、われわれはあなたのゆえに、そのようであった。
18 We have been with child. We have been in pain. We gave birth, it seems, only to wind. We have not worked any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
われわれは、はらみ、苦しんだ。しかしわれわれの産んだものは風にすぎなかった。われわれは救を地に施すこともせず、また世に住む者を滅ぼすこともしなかった。
19 Your dead shall live. Their dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth will cast out the departed spirits.
あなたの死者は生き、彼らのなきがらは起きる。ちりに伏す者よ、さめて喜びうたえ。あなたの露は光の露であって、それを亡霊の国の上に降らされるからである。
20 Come, my people, enter into your rooms, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past.
さあ、わが民よ、あなたのへやにはいり、あなたのうしろの戸を閉じて、憤りの過ぎ去るまで、しばらく隠れよ。
21 For, behold, the LORD comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.
見よ、主はそのおられる所を出て、地に住む者の不義を罰せられる。地はその上に流された血をあらわして、殺された者を、もはやおおうことがない。
