Genesis 8
1 God remembered Noah, all the animals, and all the livestock that were with him in the ship; and God made a wind to pass over the earth. The waters subsided.
Puis, Dieu se souvint de Noé, et de toutes les bêtes fauves, et de tous les bestiaux, et de tous les oiseaux, et de tous les reptiles qui étaient avec lui dans l'arche. Il fit souffler un vent sur la terre, et l'eau céda.
2 The deep’s fountains and the sky’s windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained.
Les sources de l'abîme furent fermées, ainsi que les cataractes du ciel, et la pluie du ciel cessa.
3 The waters continually receded from the earth. After the end of one hundred fifty days the waters receded.
L'eau qui fuyait sur la terre s'affaissa, et diminua après cent cinquante jours.
4 The ship rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on Ararat’s mountains.
Et, le vingt-septième jour de la septième lune, l'arche s'arrêta sur le mont Ararat.
5 The waters receded continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were visible.
Or, l'eau diminua jusqu'à la dixième lune, et, le premier jour de la dixième lune, les cimes des montagnes apparurent.
6 At the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the ship which he had made,
Après quarante jours, Noé ouvrit la porte de l'arche qu'il avait faite,
7 and he sent out a raven. It went back and forth, until the waters were dried up from the earth.
Et fit partir un corbeau, qui, étant sorti, ne revint plus, même après que l'eau se fut desséchée sur la terre.
8 He himself sent out a dove to see if the waters were abated from the surface of the ground,
Après lui, Noé envoya une colombe pour voir si l'eau s'était retirée de la terre.
9 but the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned into the ship to him, for the waters were on the surface of the whole earth. He put out his hand, and took her, and brought her to him into the ship.
Mais la colombe, n'ayant point trouvé où poser ses pieds, revint auprès de lui dans l'arche, parce que l'eau était sur toute la surface de la terre. Et, ayant étendu la main, il la prit et l'introduisit auprès de lui dans l'arche.
10 He waited yet another seven days; and again he sent the dove out of the ship.
Puis, après avoir attendu sept jours encore, il fit de nouveau partir de l'arche la colombe.
11 The dove came back to him at evening and, behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters were abated from the earth.
Et sur le soir la colombe revint près de lui, tenant en son bec un brin de branche et une feuille d'olivier. Noé reconnut alors que l'eau s'était retirée de la terre.
12 He waited yet another seven days, and sent out the dove; and she did not return to him any more.
Et après avoir attendu encore sept jours, il fit de nouveau partir la colombe, qui ne revint plus auprès de lui.
13 In the six hundred first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from the earth. Noah removed the covering of the ship, and looked. He saw that the surface of the ground was dry.
Or, l'an six cent un de la vie de Noé, le premier jour de la première lune, l'eau disparut sur la terre. Et Noé ouvrit le toit de l'arche qu'il avait faite et vit que l'eau s'était retirée de la face de la terre
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
Et, le vingt-septième jour de la seconde lune, la terre se trouva sèche.
15 God spoke to Noah, saying,
Et le Seigneur Dieu parla à Noé, disant:
16 “Go out of the ship, you, your wife, your sons, and your sons’ wives with you.
Sors de l'arche avec ta femme, et tes fils, et les femmes de tes fils, et toutes les bêtes fauves qui sont auprès de toi,
17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh, including birds, livestock, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply on the earth.”
Et toute chair, depuis les oiseaux jusqu'aux bestiaux; fais aussi sortir tout reptile se traînant à terre; et croissez et multipliez.
18 Noah went out, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives with him.
Noé sortit donc avec sa femme, et ses fils, et les femmes de ses fils;
19 Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, whatever moves on the earth, after their families, went out of the ship.
Et toutes les bêtes fauves, et tous les bestiaux, et tout oiseau, et tout reptile se traînant à terre, selon leurs espèces, sortirent avec lui.
20 Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Et Noé éleva un autel au Seigneur; puis il prit de tous les bestiaux purs, et de tous les oiseaux purs, et il en offrit sur l'autel un holocauste au Seigneur.
21 The LORD smelled the pleasant aroma. The LORD said in his heart, “I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake because the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth. I will never again strike every living thing, as I have done.
Et le Seigneur Dieu respira un parfum délicieux. Et le Seigneur Dieu, ayant réfléchi, dit: Je ne veux plus maudire la terre à cause des œuvres des hommes, parce que l'esprit de l'homme, dès sa jeunesse, se complaît dans le mal. Je ne veux donc plus frapper toute chair vivante, comme je l'ai fait.
22 While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.”
Tous les jours de la terre, les semailles et la moisson, le froid et l'ardente chaleur, l'automne et le printemps, ne se reposeront jamais plus, ni jour ni nuit.
