Ephesians 3
1 For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles,
C’est pour cela que moi, Paul, je suis le prisonnier du Christ Jésus, pour vous gentils;
2 if it is so that you have heard of the administration of that grace of God which was given me toward you,
Car vous avez appris sans doute que Dieu m’a confié la dispensation de sa grâce en votre faveur;
3 how that by revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I wrote before in few words,
Puisque, par révélation, il m’a fait connaître ce mystère, comme je vous l’ai écrit plus haut en peu de mots;
4 by which, when you read, you can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ,
De sorte que lisant, vous pouvez comprendre l’intelligence que j’ai du mystère du Christ,
5 which in other generations was not made known to the children of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit,
Mystère qui, dans les autres générations, n’a pas été découvert aux enfants des hommes, comme il est maintenant révélé par l’Esprit aux saints apôtres et aux prophètes,
6 that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of his promise in Christ Jesus through the Good News,
Que les gentils sont cohéritiers, membres d’un même corps, et participants avec eux de sa promesse en Jésus-Christ par l’Evangile,
7 of which I was made a servant according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power.
Dont j’ai été fait le ministre, en vertu du don de la grâce de Dieu, qui m’a été donnée par l’opération de sa vertu.
8 To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
À moi, le moindre des saints, a été donnée cette grâce d’annoncer parmi les gentils les richesses incompréhensibles du Christ,
9 and to make all men see what is the administration of the mystery which for ages (aiōn g165) has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ,
Et d’éclairer tous les hommes touchant la dispensation du mystère caché, dès l’origine des siècles, en Dieu qui a créé toutes choses; (aiōn g165)
10 to the intent that now through the assembly the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places,
Afin que les principautés et les puissances qui sont dans les cieux connussent par l’Eglise la sagesse multiforme de Dieu,
Selon le décret éternel qu’il a accompli dans le Christ Jésus Notre Seigneur, (aiōn g165)
12 In him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.
En qui nous avons la liberté et l’accès auprès de Dieu, avec confiance par la foi en lui.
13 Therefore I ask that you may not lose heart at my troubles for you, which are your glory.
Aussi je vous demande de ne vous point laisser abattre à cause de mes tribulations pour vous, car c’est votre gloire.
14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
C’est pour cela que je fléchis les genoux devant le Père de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
De qui toute paternité tire son nom au ciel et sur la terre;
16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person,
Afin qu’il vous accorde, selon les richesses de sa gloire, que vous soyez puissamment fortifiés par son Esprit dans l’homme intérieur;
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
Que le Christ habite par la foi dans vos cœurs, et qu’enracinés et fondés dans la charité,
18 may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth,
Vous puissiez comprendre avec tous les saints, quelle est la largeur et la longueur, la hauteur et la profondeur,
19 and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Et connaître aussi la charité du Christ, qui surpasse toute science, afin que vous soyez remplis de toute la plénitude de Dieu.
20 Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
Mais à celui qui est puissant pour tout faire bien au-delà de ce que nous demandons ou concevons, selon la vertu qui opère en nous,
