Ecclesiastes 1
1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem:
১দায়ুদৰ পুত্ৰ, যিৰূচালেমত থাকি ৰাজত্ব কৰা উপদেশকৰ কথা।
2 “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher; “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”
২উপদেশকে কৈছে, “অসাৰৰ অসাৰ! সকলোৱেই অসাৰ।
3 What does man gain from all his labor in which he labors under the sun?
৩সূৰ্যৰ তলত মানুহে যি যি পৰিশ্ৰম কৰে, সেই সকলো পৰিশ্ৰমত তেওঁৰ কি লাভ?
4 One generation goes, and another generation comes; but the earth remains forever.
৪এক পুৰুষ যায় আৰু এক পুৰুষ আহে; কিন্তু পৃথিৱী চিৰকাল থাকে।
5 The sun also rises, and the sun goes down, and hurries to its place where it rises.
৫সূৰ্য উদয় হয়, সূর্য অস্ত যায়; বেগেৰে নিজৰ উদয় স্থানলৈ ঘূৰি গৈ পুনৰ উদয় হয়।
6 The wind goes toward the south, and turns around to the north. It turns around continually as it goes, and the wind returns again to its courses.
৬বতাহ দক্ষিণ দিশলৈ বয়, আৰু চৌপাশে ঘূৰি উত্তৰলৈ যায়; এইদৰে বতাহ নিজৰ পথত ঘূৰি থাকে, আৰু পুনৰ নিজ চক্ৰলৈ উলটি আহে।
7 All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full. To the place where the rivers flow, there they flow again.
৭সকলো নদী গৈ সমুদ্ৰত পৰে; তথাপি সমুদ্ৰ কেতিয়াও পূর্ণ নহয়; নদীবোৰ যি ঠাইলৈ যায়, সেই ঠাইলৈকে পুনৰায় একেৰাহে গৈ থাকে।
8 All things are full of weariness beyond uttering. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
৮সকলোবোৰ বিষয়েই বিৰক্তিকৰ, তাৰ ব্যাখ্যা দিব পৰা মানুহৰ পক্ষে অসাধ্য। চকুৱে যিমানেই দৰ্শন নকৰক, চকু তৃপ্ত নহয়; কাণে যিমানেই শ্ৰৱণ নকৰক, কাণ তৃপ্ত নহয়।
9 That which has been is that which shall be, and that which has been done is that which shall be done; and there is no new thing under the sun.
৯যি হৈ গ’ল, সেয়ে পুনৰ হ’ব; যি কৰা হ’ল, তাক পুনৰ কৰা হ’ব; সূৰ্যৰ তলত নতুন একোৱেই নাই।
10 Is there a thing of which it may be said, “Behold, this is new”? It has been long ago, in the ages which were before us.
১০এনে কিবা আছেনে, যাৰ বিষয়ে মানুহে ক’ব পাৰে যে, ‘চোৱা এইটো নতুন’? যি যি বিদ্যমান, ইতিমধ্যে বহু দিন ধৰি আছিল, আমাৰ যুগৰ আগতেও বিদ্যমান আছিল।
11 There is no memory of the former; neither shall there be any memory of the latter that are to come, among those that shall come after.
১১অতীতত ঘটা বিষয়বোৰৰ কথা কাৰো মনত নাই; অনেক পাছত যি ঘটিছিল, আৰু ভৱিষ্যতেও যি যি হ’ব, সেই বিষয়েও মানুহে সোঁৱৰণ নকৰিব।”
12 I, the Preacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
১২মই উপদেশক; মই যিৰূচালেমত ইস্ৰায়েলৰ ওপৰত ৰজা আছিলোঁ।
13 I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under the sky. It is a heavy burden that God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.
১৩আকাশৰ তলত যি যি কৰা হয়, তাক জ্ঞানৰ দ্বাৰা পৰীক্ষা আৰু অনুসন্ধান কৰিবৰ কাৰণে মই মনতে স্থিৰ কৰিলোঁ। মই দেখিলোঁ, ঈশ্বৰে মনুষ্যক ব্যস্ত ৰাখিবলৈ ই এক দুর্বহ কার্যভাৰ।
14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and behold, all is vanity and a chasing after wind.
১৪সূর্যৰ তলত যি যি কৰা হয়, সেই সকলোকে মই চালোঁ; দেখিলোঁ, এই সকলো অসাৰ আৰু কেৱল বতাহক ধৰিবলৈ চেষ্টা কৰাৰ নিচিনা।
15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight; and that which is lacking cannot be counted.
১৫যি বেঁকা তাক পোন কৰিব নোৱাৰি! যি অনুপস্থিত, তাক গণনা কৰা অসাধ্য!
16 I said to myself, “Behold, I have obtained for myself great wisdom above all who were before me in Jerusalem. Yes, my heart has had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.”
১৬মই মনে মনে ক’লো, “মোৰ আগেয়ে যিসকল যিৰূচালেমত আছিল, সেইসকল লোকতকৈ মই অধিক প্ৰজ্ঞা অর্জন কৰিলোঁ; মোৰ মনে প্ৰজ্ঞা আৰু জ্ঞানৰ মহান অভিজ্ঞতা পালে।”
17 I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also was a chasing after wind.
১৭তাৰ পাছত মই প্রজ্ঞা, উন্মত্ততা আৰু মুৰ্খতা জানিবলৈ মনোযোগ কৰিলোঁ; তাতে মই বুজিলো যে, ইও বতাহক ধৰিবলৈ চেষ্টা কৰা মাত্ৰ।
18 For in much wisdom is much grief; and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
১৮কিয়নো প্ৰজ্ঞাৰ বাহুল্যতাত অধিক নৈৰাশ্যতা বাঢ়ে আৰু যিজনে জ্ঞান বৃদ্ধি কৰে, তেওঁ দুখো বৃদ্ধি কৰে।
