2 Thessalonians 2
1 Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, we ask you
Irmãos e irmãs, quanto à vinda do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e sobre como nos reuniremos com ele, temos o seguinte para lhes dizer:
2 not to be quickly shaken in your mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter as if from us, saying that the day of Christ has already come.
por favor, não fiquem perturbados com qualquer revelação espiritual, mensagem ou carta que supostamente venha de nós e que os faça pensar que o dia do Senhor já tenha chegado.
3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction.
Não deixem que ninguém os engane de forma alguma, porque primeiro deve vir a Revolta contra Deus, e o homem perverso será revelado, aquele que traz a destruição.
4 He opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
Ele é o inimigo de Deus e, orgulhosamente, será contra tudo que é considerado divino e contra tudo que é adorado. Ele até mesmo se colocará no Templo de Deus, afirmando ser Deus.
5 Do not you remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?
Vocês não se lembram de que eu lhes disse tudo isso enquanto ainda estava aí com vocês?
6 Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.
Agora vocês sabem o que o está mantendo sob controle, pois ele será revelado pelo que ele é no momento certo.
7 For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.
Pois o mistério da desordem já está agindo. No entanto, nada acontecerá até que aquele que impede que isso aconteça agora esteja fora do caminho.
8 Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;
E, então, o perverso será revelado, aquele a quem o Senhor Jesus irá eliminar com um sopro, destruindo-o com o brilho de sua chegada.
9 even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
Ele, o perverso, vem para fazer o trabalho de Satanás, com todos os tipos de poderes, operando milagres e realizando coisas incríveis, mas que são apenas demonstrações falsas.
10 and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
Usando todo tipo de truques malignos, ele engana todos os que se encontram em seu caminho e os leva para a destruição, pois tais pessoas se recusaram a amar a verdade para serem salvas.
11 Because of this, God sends them a powerful delusion, that they should believe a lie,
Por isso, Deus lhes permite serem iludidas e acreditarem na mentira.
12 that they all might be judged who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Assim, todos os que não confiaram na verdade serão condenados, pois eles preferiram acreditar naquilo que é falso.
13 But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth,
Mas, nós devemos sempre agradecer a Deus por vocês, irmãos e irmãs amados pelo Senhor, pois Deus, desde o começo, os escolheu para serem salvos, pelo poder do Espírito que os torna justos, porque vocês creem na verdade.
14 to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
É por isso que ele os chamou, para que, por meio do evangelho que lhes anunciamos, vocês possam participar da glória do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
15 So then, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word or by letter.
Então, permaneçam firmes e se apeguem ao que vocês aprenderam, seja pelo que lhes disseram ou por alguma carta que lhes enviamos.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us consummate (aiōnios g166) comfort and good hope through grace,
Que, o próprio Senhor Jesus Cristo e Deus, o Pai, que nos ama, e que na sua bondade nos deu tanto confiança eterna quanto uma esperança boa, (aiōnios g166)
17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
os encorajem e os fortaleçam, para que vocês possam dizer e fazer apenas o que é bom.
