2 Kings 8
1 Now Elisha had spoken to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for the LORD has called for a famine. It will also come on the land for seven years.”
Y habló Eliseo a aquella mujer a cuyo hijo había hecho vivir, diciendo: Levántate, vete tú y toda tu casa a vivir donde pudieres; porque el SEÑOR ha llamado el hambre, la cual vendrá también sobre la tierra siete años.
2 The woman arose, and did according to the man of God’s word. She went with her household, and lived in the land of the Philistines for seven years.
Entonces la mujer se levantó, e hizo como el varón de Dios le dijo; y se partió ella con su familia, y vivió en tierra de los filisteos siete años.
3 At the end of seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines. Then she went out to beg the king for her house and for her land.
Y cuando fueron pasados los siete años, la mujer volvió de la tierra de los filisteos; después salió para clamar al rey por su casa, y por sus tierras.
4 Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”
Y había el rey hablado con Giezi, criado del varón de Dios, diciéndole: Te ruego que me cuentes todas las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo.
5 As he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life begged the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.”
Y contando él al rey cómo había hecho vivir a un muerto, he aquí la mujer, a cuyo hijo había hecho vivir, que clamaba al rey por su casa y por sus tierras. Entonces dijo Giezi: Rey señor mío, esta es la mujer, y este es su hijo, al cual Eliseo hizo vivir.
6 When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.”
Y preguntando el rey a la mujer, ella se lo contó. Entonces el rey le dio un eunuco, diciéndole: Hazle volver todas las cosas que eran suyas, y todos los frutos de la tierras desde el día que dejó las tierras hasta ahora.
7 Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. He was told, “The man of God has come here.”
Eliseo se fue luego a Damasco, y Ben-adad rey de Siria estaba enfermo, al cual dieron aviso, diciendo: El varón de Dios es venido aquí.
8 The king said to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go meet the man of God, and inquire of the LORD by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”
Y el rey dijo a Hazael: Toma en tu mano un presente, y ve a recibir al varón de Dios, y consulta por él al SEÑOR, diciendo: ¿Tengo de sanar de esta enfermedad?
9 So Hazael went to meet him and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him and said, “Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”
Tomó, pues, Hazael en su mano un presente de todos los bienes de Damasco, cuarenta camellos cargados, y le salió a recibir; y llegó, y se puso delante de él, y dijo: Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado a ti, diciendo: ¿Tengo de sanar de esta enfermedad?
10 Elisha said to him, “Go, tell him, ‘You will surely recover;’ however the LORD has shown me that he will surely die.”
Y Eliseo le dijo: Ve, dile: Podrás ciertamente sanarse. Pero el SEÑOR me ha mostrado que él ha de morir ciertamente.
11 He settled his gaze steadfastly on him, until he was ashamed. Then the man of God wept.
Y el varón de Dios le miró fijamente, y se estuvo así hasta avergonzarse; y lloró el varón de Dios.
12 Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash their little ones in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women.”
Entonces le dijo Hazael: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Y él respondió: Porque sé el mal que has de hacer a los hijos de Israel; a sus fortalezas pegarás fuego, y a sus jóvenes matarás a cuchillo, y estrellarás a sus niños, y abrirás a sus preñadas.
13 Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he could do this great thing?” Elisha answered, “The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”
Y Hazael dijo: ¿Por qué? ¿Es tu siervo perro, que hará esta gran cosa? Y respondió Eliseo: El SEÑOR me ha mostrado que tú has de ser rey de Siria.
14 Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” He answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.”
Y él se partió de Eliseo, y vino a su señor, el cual le dijo: ¿Qué te dijo Eliseo? Y él respondió: Me dijo que podrás ciertamente sanarse.
15 On the next day, he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.
El día siguiente tomó un paño basto, y lo metió en agua, y lo tendió sobre el rostro de Ben-adad, y murió; y reinó Hazael en su lugar.
16 In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being king of Judah then, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
En el quinto año de Joram hijo de Acab rey de Israel, y siendo Josafat rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Joram hijo de Josafat rey de Judá.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign. He reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
De treinta y dos años era cuando comenzó a reinar, y ocho años reinó en Jerusalén.
18 He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did Ahab’s house, for he married Ahab’s daughter. He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight.
Anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Acab; porque una hija de Acab fue su mujer; e hizo lo malo en ojos del SEÑOR.
19 However, the LORD would not destroy Judah, for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give to him a lamp for his children always.
Con todo eso, el SEÑOR no quiso cortar a Judá, por amor de David su siervo, como le había prometido darle lámpara de sus hijos perpetuamente.
20 In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
En su tiempo se rebeló Edom de debajo de la mano de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.
21 Then Joram crossed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him; and he rose up by night and struck the Edomites who surrounded him with the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.
Joram por tanto pasó a Seir, y todos sus carros con él; y levantándose de noche hirió a los idumeos, los cuales le habían cercado, y a los capitanes de los carros; y el pueblo huyó a sus estancias.
22 So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.
Sin embargo Edom se rebeló de bajo la mano de Judá, hasta hoy. Se rebeló además Libna en el mismo tiempo.
23 The rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are not they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Lo demás de los hechos de Joram, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
24 Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.
Y durmió Joram con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y reinó en lugar suyo Ocozías, su hijo.
25 In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.
En el año doce de Joram hijo de Acab rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Ocozías hijo de Joram rey de Judá.
26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
De veintidós años era Ocozías cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Atalía hija de Omri rey de Israel.
27 He walked in the way of Ahab’s house and did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, as did Ahab’s house, for he was the son-in-law of Ahab’s house.
Anduvo en el camino de la casa de Acab, e hizo lo malo en ojos del SEÑOR, como la casa de Acab; porque era yerno de la casa de Acab.
28 He went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead, and the Syrians wounded Joram.
Y fue a la guerra con Joram hijo de Acab a Ramot de Galaad, contra Hazael rey de Siria; y los Siros hirieron a Joram.
29 King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel from the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
Y el rey Joram se volvió a Jezreel, para curarse de las heridas que los Siros le hicieron delante de Ramot, cuando peleó contra Hazael rey de Siria. Y descendió Ocozías hijo de Joram rey de Judá, a visitar a Joram hijo de Acab en Jezreel, porque estaba enfermo.
