2 Chronicles 30

1 Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the LORD’s house at Jerusalem, to keep the Passover to the LORD, the God of Israel.

Poi Ezechia inviò de’ messi a tutto Israele e a Giuda, e scrisse pure lettere ad Efraim ed a Manasse, perché venissero alla casa dell’Eterno a Gerusalemme, a celebrar la Pasqua in onore dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio d’Israele.

2 For the king had taken counsel with his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem to keep the Passover in the second month.

Il re, i suoi capi e tutta la raunanza, in un consiglio tenuto a Gerusalemme, avevano deciso di celebrare la Pasqua il secondo mese;

3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, and the people had not gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.

giacché non la potevan celebrare al tempo debito, perché i sacerdoti non s’erano santificati in numero sufficiente, e il popolo non s’era radunato in Gerusalemme.

4 The thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly.

La cosa piacque al re e a tutta la raunanza;

5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Passover to the LORD, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem, for they had not kept it in great numbers in the way it is written.

e stabilirono di proclamare un bando per tutto Israele, da Beer-Sceba fino a Dan, perché la gente venisse a Gerusalemme a celebrar la Pasqua in onore dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio d’Israele; poiché per l’addietro essa non era stata celebrata in modo generale, secondo ch’è prescritto.

6 So the couriers went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, according to the commandment of the king, saying, “You children of Israel, turn again to the LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may return to the remnant of you that have escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.

I corrieri dunque andarono con le lettere del re e dei suoi capi per tutto Israele e Giuda; e, conformemente all’ordine del re, dissero: “Figliuoli d’Israele, tornate all’Eterno, all’Iddio d’Abrahamo, d’Isacco e d’Israele, ond’egli torni al residuo che di voi è scampato dalle mani dei re d’Assiria.

7 Do not be like your fathers and like your brothers, who trespassed against the LORD, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see.

E non siate come i vostri padri e come i vostri fratelli, che sono stati infedeli all’Eterno, all’Iddio dei loro padri, in guisa ch’ei li ha dati in preda alla desolazione, come voi vedete.

8 Now do not be stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve the LORD your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.

Ora non indurate le vostre cervici, come i padri vostri; date la mano all’Eterno, venite al suo santuario ch’egli ha santificato in perpetuo, e servite l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, onde l’ardente ira sua si ritiri da voi.

9 For if you turn again to the LORD, your brothers and your children will find compassion with those who led them captive, and will come again into this land, because the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you if you return to him.”

Poiché, se tornate all’Eterno, i vostri fratelli e i vostri figliuoli troveranno pietà in quelli che li hanno menati schiavi, e ritorneranno in questo paese; giacché l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, è clemente e misericordioso, e non volgerà la faccia lungi da voi, se a lui tornate”.

10 So the couriers passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun, but people ridiculed them and mocked them.

Quei corrieri dunque passarono di città in città nel paese di Efraim e di Manasse, e fino a Zabulon; ma la gente si facea beffe di loro e li scherniva.

11 Nevertheless some men of Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

Nondimeno, alcuni uomini di Ascer, di Manasse e di Zabulon si umiliarono, e vennero a Gerusalemme.

12 Also the hand of God came on Judah to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the LORD’s word.

Anche in Giuda la mano di Dio operò in guisa da dar loro un medesimo cuore per mettere ad effetto l’ordine del re e dei capi, secondo la parola del l’Eterno.

13 Many people assembled at Jerusalem to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great assembly.

Un gran popolo si riunì a Gerusalemme per celebrare la festa degli azzimi, il secondo mese: fu una raunanza immensa.

14 They arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and they took away all the altars for incense and threw them into the brook Kidron.

Si levarono e tolsero via gli altari sui quali si offrivan sacrifizi a Gerusalemme, tolsero via tutti gli altari sui quali si offrivan profumi, e li gettarono nel torrente Kidron.

15 Then they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the second month. The priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought burnt offerings into the LORD’s house.

Poi immolarono l’agnello pasquale, il quattordicesimo giorno del secondo mese. I sacerdoti e i Leviti, i quali, presi da vergogna, s’eran santificati, offrirono olocausti nella casa dell’Eterno;

16 They stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moses the man of God. The priests sprinkled the blood which they received of the hand of the Levites.

e occuparono il posto assegnato loro dalla legge di Mosè, uomo di Dio. I sacerdoti facevano l’aspersione del sangue, che ricevevano dalle mani de’ Leviti.

17 For there were many in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves; therefore the Levites were in charge of killing the Passovers for everyone who was not clean, to sanctify them to the LORD.

Siccome ve n’erano molti, nella raunanza, che non s’erano santificati, i Leviti aveano l’incarico d’immolare gli agnelli pasquali, consacrandoli all’Eterno, per tutti quelli che non eran puri.

18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover other than the way it is written. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, “May the good LORD pardon everyone

Poiché una gran parte del popolo, molti d’Efraim, di Manasse, d’Issacar e di Zabulon non s’erano purificati, e mangiarono la Pasqua, senza conformarsi a quello ch’è scritto. Ma Ezechia pregò per loro, dicendo:

19 who sets his heart to seek God, the LORD, the God of his fathers, even if they are not clean according to the purification of the sanctuary.”

“L’Eterno, che è buono, perdoni a chiunque ha disposto il proprio cuore alla ricerca di Dio, dell’Eterno, ch’è l’Iddio de’ suoi padri, anche senz’avere la purificazione richiesta dal santuario”.

20 The LORD listened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

E l’Eterno esaudì Ezechia, e perdonò al popolo.

21 The children of Israel who were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness. The Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with loud instruments to the LORD.

Così i figliuoli d’Israele che si trovarono a Gerusalemme, celebrarono la festa degli azzimi per sette giorni con grande allegrezza; e ogni giorno i Leviti e i sacerdoti celebravano l’Eterno con gli strumenti consacrati ad accompagnar le sue lodi.

22 Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of the LORD. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings and making confession to the LORD, the God of their fathers.

Ezechia parlò al cuore di tutti i Leviti che mostravano grande intelligenza nel servizio dell’Eterno; e si fecero i pasti della festa durante i sette giorni, offrendo sacrifizi di azioni di grazie, e lodando l’Eterno, l’Iddio dei loro padri.

23 The whole assembly took counsel to keep another seven days, and they kept another seven days with gladness.

E tutta la raunanza deliberò di celebrare la festa per altri sette giorni; e la celebrarono con allegrezza durante questi sette giorni;

24 For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly for offerings one thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep; and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

poiché Ezechia, re di Giuda, avea donato alla raunanza mille giovenchi e settemila pecore, e i capi pure avean donato alla raunanza mille tori e diecimila pecore; e i sacerdoti in gran numero, s’erano santificati.

25 All the assembly of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the assembly who came out of Israel, and the foreigners who came out of the land of Israel and who lived in Judah, rejoiced.

Tutta la raunanza di Giuda, i sacerdoti, i Leviti, tutta la raunanza di quelli venuti da Israele e gli stranieri giunti dal paese d’Israele o stabiliti in Giuda, furono in festa.

26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem; for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was nothing like this in Jerusalem.

Così vi fu gran gioia in Gerusalemme; dal tempo di Salomone, figliuolo di Davide, re d’Israele, non v’era stato nulla di simile in Gerusalemme.

27 Then the Levitical priests arose and blessed the people. Their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even to heaven.

Poi i sacerdoti Leviti si levarono e benedissero il popolo, e la loro voce fu udita, e la loro preghiera giunse fino al cielo, fino alla santa dimora dell’Eterno.
