1 Samuel 1
1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.
Był pewien człowiek z Ramataim-Sofim, z góry Efraim, imieniem Elkana, syn Jerochama, syna Elihu, syna Tochu, syna Sufa Efratejczyka.
2 He had two wives. The name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
Miał on dwie żony, jednej było na imię Anna, a drugiej – Peninna. Peninna miała dzieci, Anna zaś była bezdzietna.
3 This man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to the LORD of Armies in Shiloh. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests to the LORD, were there.
Człowiek ten co roku udawał się ze swego miasta, aby oddać cześć i złożyć ofiarę PANU zastępów w Szilo. Tam byli dwaj synowie Helego, Chofni i Pinchas, kapłani PANA.
4 When the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters;
A gdy nadszedł dzień, w którym Elkana składał ofiarę, dał swojej żonie Peninnie oraz wszystkim jej synom i córkom części [z ofiary];
5 but he gave a double portion to Hannah, for he loved Hannah, but the LORD had shut up her womb.
Ale Annie dał jedną wyborną część, gdyż miłował Annę, choć PAN zamknął jej łono.
6 Her rival provoked her severely, to irritate her, because the LORD had shut up her womb.
Jej przeciwniczka zaś bardzo jej dokuczała, aby tylko ją rozgniewać z tego powodu, że PAN zamknął jej łono.
7 So year by year, when she went up to the LORD’s house, her rival provoked her. Therefore she wept, and did not eat.
I tak [Elkana] czynił każdego roku, a ilekroć [Anna] przychodziła do domu PANA, w ten sposób [Peninna] jej dokuczała. Ta zaś płakała i nie jadła.
8 Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why do not you eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”
Wtedy Elkana, jej mąż, powiedział do niej: Anno, czemu płaczesz? Dlaczego nie jesz? Czemu tak smuci się twoje serce? Czy ja nie jestem dla ciebie lepszy niż dziesięciu synów?
9 So Hannah rose up after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his seat by the doorpost of the LORD’s temple.
I gdy najedli się, i napili w Szilo, Anna wstała. A kapłan Heli siedział na krześle przy odrzwiach świątyni PANA.
10 She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly.
A ona, z goryczą w duszy, modliła się do PANA i strasznie płakała.
11 She vowed a vow, and said, “LORD of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.”
I złożyła ślub, mówiąc: PANIE zastępów, jeśli wejrzysz na utrapienie swojej służącej i wspomnisz na mnie, i nie zapomnisz swojej służącej, ale dasz swej służącej męskiego potomka, wtedy oddam go PANU na wszystkie dni jego życia, a brzytwa nie dotknie jego głowy.
12 As she continued praying before the LORD, Eli saw her mouth.
A gdy długo modliła się przed PANEM, Heli przypatrywał się jej ustom.
13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart. Only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.
Lecz Anna mówiła w swym sercu i tylko jej wargi się poruszały, ale jej głosu nie było słychać. Heli sądził więc, że jest pijana.
14 Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Get rid of your wine!”
I Heli powiedział do niej: Jak długo będziesz pijana? Wytrzeźwiej od swego wina.
15 Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have not been drinking wine or strong drink, but I poured out my soul before the LORD.
Anna zaś odpowiedziała: Nie, mój panie. Jestem kobietą utrapionego ducha. Nie piłam ani wina, ani mocnego napoju, lecz wylałam swoją duszę przed PANEM.
16 Do not consider your servant a wicked woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation.”
Nie uważaj swojej służącej za kobietę Beliala, gdyż z nadmiaru troski i smutku aż dotąd mówiłam.
17 Then Eli answered, “Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him.”
Wtedy Heli odpowiedział: Idź w pokoju, a niech Bóg Izraela spełni twoją prośbę, którą zaniosłaś do niego.
18 She said, “Let your servant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate; and her facial expression was not sad any more.
I powiedziała: Niech twoja służąca znajdzie łaskę w twoich oczach. I ta kobieta poszła swoją drogą, i jadła, a jej twarz już nie była [smutna].
19 They rose up in the morning early and worshiped the LORD, then returned and came to their house to Ramah. Then Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.
Nazajutrz wstali wcześnie rano, pokłonili się przed PANEM, wrócili się i przybyli do swego domu w Rama. I Elkana obcował z Anną, swoją żoną, a PAN wspomniał na nią.
20 When the time had come, Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked him of the LORD.”
I gdy się wypełniły dni potem, jak Anna poczęła, urodziła syna i nadała mu imię Samuel, gdyż [mówiła]: Uprosiłam go u PANA.
21 The man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to the LORD the yearly sacrifice and his vow.
Potem ten człowiek, Elkana, wraz z całym swoim domem udał się, aby złożyć PANU doroczną ofiarę oraz [wypełnić] swój ślub.
22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “Not until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and stay there forever.”
Lecz Anna nie poszła, bo mówiła swemu mężowi: [Nie pójdę], aż dziecko będzie odstawione od piersi, potem je zaprowadzę, żeby ukazało się przed PANEM i zostało tam na zawsze.
23 Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what seems good to you. Wait until you have weaned him; only may the LORD establish his word.” So the woman waited and nursed her son until she weaned him.
Jej mąż Elkana odpowiedział: Czyń to, co ci [się wydaje] słuszne; pozostań, aż go odstawisz. Niech tylko PAN utwierdzi swoje słowo. Kobieta pozostała więc i karmiła piersią swego syna, aż do odstawienia go od piersi.
24 When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, and one ephah of meal, and a container of wine, and brought him to the LORD’s house in Shiloh. The child was young.
A gdy go odstawiła, wzięła go ze sobą wraz z trzema cielcami, z jedną efą mąki i bukłakiem wina i przyprowadziła go do domu PANA w Szilo; a dziecko [było] małe.
25 They killed the bull, and brought the child to Eli.
I zabili cielca, i przyprowadzili dziecko do Heliego.
26 She said, “Oh, my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the LORD.
A ona powiedziała: Proszę, mój panie! Jak żyje twoja dusza, mój panie, to ja [jestem] tą kobietą, która stała tu przy tobie, modląc się do PANA.
27 I prayed for this child, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.
Prosiłam o to dziecko i PAN spełnił moją prośbę, którą zaniosłam do niego.
28 Therefore I have also given him to the LORD. As long as he lives he is given to the LORD.” He worshiped the LORD there.
Dlatego też oddaję je PANU. Na wszystkie dni jego życia zostaje oddane PANU. I oddał tam pokłon PANU.
