< 1 Samuel 5 >
1 Now the Philistines had taken God’s ark, and they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
Filistifoɔ no faa Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no akyi, wɔmaa so firii Ebeneser akono hɔ kɔɔ kuropɔn Asdod mu.
2 The Philistines took God’s ark, and brought it into the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon.
Wɔsoaa Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no kɔɔ Dagon abosonnan mu. Wɔde kɔsii ohoni Dagon nkyɛn.
3 When the people of Ashdod arose early on the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the LORD’s ark. They took Dagon and set him in his place again.
Nanso, ɛberɛ a adeɛ kyeeɛ a Asdod kuro mma no kɔhwɛeɛ no, na Dagon ahwe fam wɔ Awurade Apam Adaka no anim a nʼanim butu fam. Enti, wɔmaa ohoni no so gyinaa hɔ bio.
4 When they arose early on the following morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the LORD’s ark; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off on the threshold. Only Dagon’s torso was intact.
Nanso, adeɛ kyee anɔpa no, na asɛm korɔ no ara asi bio. Na Dagon no ahwe fam wɔ Awurade Apam Adaka no anim a nʼanim butu fam. Saa ɛberɛ yi deɛ, na ne ti ne ne nsa abubu afiri so deda ɛpono ano. Ne kuntunsini na na aka da hɔ a ammubu.
5 Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any who come into Dagon’s house step on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.
Ɛno enti na ɛbɛsi ɛnnɛ yi, Dagon asɔfoɔ anaa obiara a ɔbɛwura abosonnan mu hɔ no ntia aponnwa no so no.
6 But the LORD’s hand was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and he destroyed them and struck them with tumors, even Ashdod and its borders.
Na Awurade maa mpɔmpɔ bobɔɔ Asdodfoɔ ne ne mpɔtam hɔfoɔ no.
7 When the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel shall not stay with us, for his hand is severe on us and on Dagon our god.”
Ɛberɛ Asdodfoɔ hunuu asɛm a aba no, wɔkaa sɛ, “Yɛrentumi mma Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no ntena yɛn nkyɛn. Ɔtia yɛn! Ɔbɛsɛe yɛn ne yɛn nyame, Dagon nyinaa.”
8 They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They answered, “Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried over to Gath.” They carried the ark of the God of Israel there.
Enti, wɔfrɛɛ Filistifoɔ nkuropɔn enum mu sodifoɔ nyinaa bisaa wɔn sɛ, “Ɛdeɛn na yɛnyɛ Israel Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka yi?” Sodifoɔ no susuu asɛm no ho na wɔbuaa sɛ, “Momfa Israel Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no nkɔ Gat.” Enti, wɔde Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no kɔɔ Gat.
9 It was so, that after they had carried it there, the LORD’s hand was against the city with a very great confusion; and he struck the men of the city, both small and great, so that tumors broke out on them.
Nanso, ɛberɛ a Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no duruu Gat no, Awurade maa mpɔmpɔ bobɔɔ kuro no mufoɔ, mpanin ne mmɔfra, na wɔsuroo yie.
10 So they sent God’s ark to Ekron. As God’s ark came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel here to us, to kill us and our people.”
Enti, wɔde Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no kɔɔ Ekron kuropɔn mu, na wɔde rewura hɔ no, Ekronfoɔ no suu sɛ, “Wɔde Israel Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no reba yɛn nkyɛn de abɛkunkum yɛn nso.”
11 They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, “Send the ark of the God of Israel away, and let it go again to its own place, that it not kill us and our people.” For there was a deadly panic throughout all the city. The hand of God was very heavy there.
Enti, nnipa frɛɛ sodifoɔ no bio, srɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monsane mfa Onyankopɔn Apam Adaka no mfiri ha nkɔ ne ɔman mu, anyɛ saa a, ɛbɛkunkum yɛn nyinaa.” Saa ɛberɛ no na ɔyaredɔm a ɛfiri Onyankopɔn nkyɛn no ahyɛ aseɛ dada ama huboa abɛtɔ kuropɔn no so.
12 The men who did not die were struck with the tumors; and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
Wɔn a wɔanwuwu no, wɔmaa mpɔmpɔ bobɔɔ wɔn. Na agyaadwotwa baa baabiara.
