1 Samuel 20
1 David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said to Jonathan, “What have I done? What is my iniquity? What is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?”
David aber floh aus dem Heim auf der Höhe. Er kam und sprach vor Jonatan: "Was habe ich verbrochen? Was ist meine Schuld und meine Sünde gegen deinen Vater, daß er mir nach dem Leben trachtet?"
2 He said to him, “Far from it; you will not die. Behold, my father does nothing either great or small, but that he discloses it to me. Why would my father hide this thing from me? It is not so.”
Er sprach zu ihm: "Das sei ferne! Du mußt nicht sterben. Mein Vater tut nichts Wichtiges oder Unwichtiges, ohne es mir vorher zu sagen. Warum sollte mein Vater mir dies vorenthalten? Es ist nichts."
3 David swore moreover, and said, “Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes; and he says, ‘Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved;’ but truly as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.”
Aber David beteuerte wiederum und sprach: "Dein Vater weiß gut, daß ich mit dir gut stehe. Er denkt: Das soll Jonatan nicht erfahren, daß er sich nicht gräme. Aber so wahr der Herr lebt und du lebst! Nur ein Schritt ist zwischen mir und dem Tod."
4 Then Jonathan said to David, “Whatever your soul desires, I will even do it for you.”
Da sprach Jonatan zu David: "Was wünscht deine Seele, daß ich es dir tue?"
5 David said to Jonathan, “Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to dine with the king; but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field to the third day at evening.
Da sprach David zu Jonatan: "Morgen ist Neumond. Da sollte ich mit dem König beim Mahle sitzen. Aber entlaß mich, daß ich mich auf dem Feld bis zum dritten Abend verberge!
6 If your father misses me at all, then say, ‘David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem, his city; for it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the family.’
Vermißt mich dein Vater, dann sprich: 'David hat sich von mir Urlaub erbeten, um nach seiner Stadt Bethlehem zu eilen; denn das Jahresopfer ist dort für die ganze Sippe!'
7 If he says, ‘It is well,’ your servant shall have peace; but if he is angry, then know that evil is determined by him.
Spricht er also: 'Gut!', so ist Friede deinem Sklaven. Gerät er aber in Zorn, so wisse, daß das Unheil von ihm beschlossen ist!
8 Therefore deal kindly with your servant, for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the LORD with you; but if there is iniquity in me, kill me yourself, for why should you bring me to your father?”
Darin zeige deinem Sklaven Liebe! Du hast ja deinen Sklaven mit dir in einen Herrnbund treten lassen. Ist aber bei mir eine Schuld, dann töte du selbst mich! Aber warum wolltest du mich zu deinem Vater bringen?"
9 Jonathan said, “Far be it from you; for if I should at all know that evil were determined by my father to come on you, then would not I tell you that?”
Da sprach Jonatan: "Das sei ferne von dir! Würde ich wirklich erfahren, daß von meinem Vater beschlossen ist, Unheil über dich zu bringen, sollte ich es dir nicht melden?"
10 Then David said to Jonathan, “Who will tell me if your father answers you roughly?”
Da sprach David zu Jonatan: "Wer meldet es mir oder was dein Vater dir sonst Schroffes antwortet?"
11 Jonathan said to David, “Come! Let’s go out into the field.” They both went out into the field.
Da sprach Jonatan zu David: "Auf! Laßt uns aufs Feld gehen!" Da gingen beide aufs Feld.
12 Jonathan said to David, “By the LORD, the God of Israel, when I have sounded out my father about this time tomorrow, or the third day, behold, if there is good toward David, will not I then send to you and disclose it to you?
Da sprach Jonatan zu David: "Beim Herrn, Israels Gott! Ich forsche meinen Vater aus, übermorgen um diese Zeit, ob es gut um David steht. Wo nicht, dann sende ich zu dir und offenbare es dir.
13 The LORD do so to Jonathan and more also, should it please my father to do you evil, if I do not disclose it to you and send you away, that you may go in peace. May the LORD be with you as he has been with my father.
Der Herr tue Jonatan das und das! Wenn meinem Vater das Unheil gegen dich gefiele, so offenbarte ich es dir doch und ließe dich ziehen, und du zögest im Frieden. Der Herr sei mit dir, wie er mit meinem Vater gewesen!
14 You shall not only show me the loving kindness of the LORD while I still live, that I not die;
Und solange ich noch am Leben bin, mögest du an mir des Herrn Liebe üben, daß ich nicht sterbe!
15 but you shall also not cut off your kindness from my house forever, no, not when the LORD has cut off every one of the enemies of David from the surface of the earth.”
Aber du wirst niemals meinem Hause deine Liebe entziehen, auch dann nicht, wenn der Herr die Feinde Davids ausrottet, Mann für Mann vom Erdboden."
16 So Jonathan made a covenant with David’s house, saying, “The LORD will require it at the hand of David’s enemies.”
So schloß Jonatan mit dem Hause Davids einen Bund, hatte doch der Herr ihn von der Schar der Feinde Davids ausgenommen.
17 Jonathan caused David to swear again, for the love that he had to him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
Da schwur Jonatan noch einmal David bei seiner Liebe zu ihm. Denn wie sein eigen Leben liebte er ihn.
18 Then Jonathan said to him, “Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty.
Dann sprach Jonatan zu ihm: "Morgen ist Neumond. Da wirst du vermißt; denn man wird die Blicke auf deinen Sitz richten.
19 When you have stayed three days, go down quickly and come to the place where you hid yourself when this started, and remain by the stone Ezel.
Gehst du nun übermorgen zur Stadt hinab, dann komm am Werktag zu dem Ort, wo du dich verborgen hast, und setze dich neben jenen Stein!
20 I will shoot three arrows on its side, as though I shot at a mark.
Ich schieße dann drei Pfeile nach einer Richtung hin, als schösse ich nach einem Ziele.
21 Behold, I will send the boy, saying, ‘Go, find the arrows!’ If I tell the boy, ‘Behold, the arrows are on this side of you. Take them;’ then come, for there is peace to you and no danger, as the LORD lives.
Dann schicke ich den Knaben: 'Auf! Such die Pfeile!' Sage ich nun zum Knaben: 'Die Pfeile liegen herwärts von dir', dann nimm es auf und komm! Denn dann ist Friede mit dir und nichts anderes, so wahr der Herr lebt.
22 But if I say this to the boy, ‘Behold, the arrows are beyond you,’ then go your way, for the LORD has sent you away.
Sage ich aber zum Jüngling: 'Die Pfeile liegen vorwärts von dir', so geh! Dann schickt dich der Herr fort.
23 Concerning the matter which you and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD is between you and me forever.”
Für das Wort, das wir, ich und du, gesprochen haben, sei der Herr zwischen mir und dir in Ewigkeit Zeuge!"
24 So David hid himself in the field. When the new moon had come, the king sat himself down to eat food.
David verbarg sich nun im Felde. Der Neumond kam. Da setzte sich der König zum Mahle.
25 The king sat on his seat, as at other times, even on the seat by the wall; and Jonathan stood up, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, but David’s place was empty.
Und der König saß wie immer auf seinem Sitz, auf dem Wandsitz. Jonatan aber saß vornan, und Abner saß an Sauls Seite. Davids Platz aber fiel auf.
26 Nevertheless Saul did not say anything that day, for he thought, “Something has happened to him. He is not clean. Surely he is not clean.”
Saul sagte nichts an jenem Tage, sondern dachte: "Ein Vorkommnis ist es. Er ist nicht rein, weil er noch nicht gereinigt ist."
27 On the next day after the new moon, the second day, David’s place was empty. Saul said to Jonathan his son, “Why did not the son of Jesse come to eat, either yesterday, or today?”
Am zweiten Tage nach dem Neumond fiel Davids Platz wieder auf. Da fragte Saul seinen Sohn Jonatan: "Warum ist Isais Sohn weder gestern noch heute zum Mahle gekommen?"
28 Jonathan answered Saul, “David earnestly asked permission of me to go to Bethlehem.
Darauf erwiderte Jonatan dem Saul: "David hat sich von mir Urlaub nach Bethlehem erbeten.
29 He said, ‘Please let me go, for our family has a sacrifice in the city. My brother has commanded me to be there. Now, if I have found favor in your eyes, please let me go away and see my brothers.’ Therefore he has not come to the king’s table.”
Er sagte: 'Entlaß mich! Denn wir haben in der Stadt ein Familienopfer. Und da hat mein Bruder mich entboten. Und nun, finde ich in deinen Augen Gnade, so möchte ich entschuldigt sein und meine Brüder besuchen.' Deshalb ist er nicht an des Königs Tafel gekommen."
30 Then Saul’s anger burned against Jonathan, and he said to him, “You son of a perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your mother’s nakedness?
Da ergrimmte Saul über Jonatan und sprach zu ihm: "Du Sohn versuchten Abfalls! Weiß ich nicht, daß du ein Freund des Isaisohns bist, zu deiner und deiner Mutter Schmach und Schande!
31 For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, you will not be established, nor will your kingdom. Therefore now send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die!”
Denn solange der Isaisohn auf Erden lebt, hast weder du noch hat dein Königtum Bestand. Nun schicke hin und hol ihn mir! Er ist ein Kind des Todes."
32 Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him, “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?”
Jonatan aber antwortete seinem Vater Saul und sprach zu ihm: "Warum soll er getötet werden? Was hat er verbrochen?"
33 Saul cast his spear at him to strike him. By this Jonathan knew that his father was determined to put David to death.
Da schwang Saul die Lanze gegen ihn, um ihn zu ermorden. Da erkannte Jonatan, daß es von seinem Vater beschlossen war, David zu töten.
34 So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and ate no food the second day of the month; for he was grieved for David, because his father had treated him shamefully.
Und Jonatan stand in glühendem Zorn von der Tafel auf. Er hatte aber am zweiten Neumondstage nichts gegessen. Denn er war betrübt um David und weil ihn sein Vater beschimpft hatte.
35 In the morning, Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little boy with him.
Am Morgen ging Jonatan aufs Feld hinaus, gemäß der Verabredung mit David; ein kleiner Knabe war bei ihm.
36 He said to his boy, “Run, find now the arrows which I shoot.” As the boy ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
Da sagte er zu seinem Knaben: "Lauf und such die Pfeile, die ich abschieße!" Der Knabe lief; er selbst aber schoß die Pfeile über ihn hinaus.
37 When the boy had come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the boy, and said, “Is not the arrow beyond you?”
Als der Knabe an die Stelle der Pfeile kam, die Jonatan abgeschossen hatte, rief Jonatan dem Knaben nach und sprach: "Liegen nicht die Pfeile vorwärts von dir?"
38 Jonathan cried after the boy, “Go fast! Hurry! Do not delay!” Jonathan’s boy gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
Dann rief Jonatan dem Knaben nach: "Rasch! Spute dich! Halt dich nicht auf!" Da hob der Knabe die Pfeile und brachte sie seinem Herrn.
39 But the boy did not know anything. Only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
Der Knabe aber wußte von nichts. Nur Jonatan und David wußten darum.
40 Jonathan gave his weapons to his boy, and said to him, “Go, carry them to the city.”
Und Jonatan gab seine Waffen dem Knaben, der bei ihm war, und sprach zu ihm: "Auf! Bring sie in die Stadt!"
41 As soon as the boy was gone, David arose out of the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times. They kissed one another and wept with one another, and David wept the most.
Als aber der Knabe fortgegangen war, erhob sich David im Hintergrund, fiel auf sein Antlitz zur Erde und verneigte sich dreimal. Dann küßten sie einander und weinten lange zusammen, David aber noch länger.
42 Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, because we have both sworn in the LORD’s name, saying, ‘The LORD is between me and you, and between my offspring and your offspring, forever.’” He arose and departed; and Jonathan went into the city.
Dann sprach Jonatan zu David: "Geh im Frieden! Wir haben uns ja beide in des Herrn Namen zugeschworen: 'Der Herr ist zwischen mir und dir, meinem und deinem Stamm für alle Zeit.'"
