1 Samuel 10

1 Then Samuel took the vial of oil and poured it on his head, then kissed him and said, “Has not the LORD anointed you to be prince over his inheritance?

১তারপর শমূয়েল একটা তেলের শিশি নিয়ে শৌলের মাথার উপর ঢেলে দিলেন এবং তাঁকে চুমু দিয়ে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু কি তোমাকে তাঁর সমস্ত কিছুর (উত্তরাধিকারের) উপর রাজা হিসাবে অভিষেক করেন নি?

2 When you have departed from me today, then you will find two men by Rachel’s tomb, on the border of Benjamin at Zelzah. They will tell you, ‘The donkeys which you went to look for have been found; and behold, your father has stopped caring about the donkeys and is anxious for you, saying, “What shall I do for my son?”’

২তুমি আমার কাছ থেকে চলে যাবার পর আজ বিন্যামীন এলাকার সীমানায় সেল্‌সহে রাহেলের কবরের কাছে দুইজন লোকের দেখা পাবে; তারা তোমাকে বলবে, ‘তুমি যে সব গাধীগুলোর খোঁজে বেরিয়েছিলে সেগুলো পাওয়া গেছে, কিন্তু এখন, তোমার বাবা গাধীগুলোর চিন্তা ছেড়ে তোমার জন্য চিন্তা করছেন, বলছেন, আমার ছেলের জন্য কি করব’?”

3 “Then you will go on forward from there, and you will come to the oak of Tabor. Three men will meet you there going up to God to Bethel: one carrying three young goats, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a container of wine.

৩তারপর তুমি সেখান থেকে এগিয়ে গিয়ে তাবোর এলাকার এলোন গাছের কাছে গেলে দেখতে পাবে, তিনজন লোক যারা বৈথেলে ঈশ্বরের কাছে যাচ্ছে, তুমি দেখবে, তাদের একজন তিনটি ছাগলের বাচ্চা, আর একজন তিনটি রুটি ও আর একজন এক পাত্র আঙুর-রস বয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে।

4 They will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive from their hand.

৪তারা তোমাকে শুভেচ্ছা জানাবে ও দুইটি রুটি দেবে এবং তুমি তা তাদের হাত থেকে নেবে।

5 “After that you will come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is; and it will happen, when you have come there to the city, that you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place with a lute, a tambourine, a pipe, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying.

৫তারপর পলেষ্টীয়দের সৈন্যরা যেখানে আছে, ঈশ্বরের সেই পাহাড়ে উপস্থিত হবে, সেই শহরে পৌঁছালে পর, এমন এক দল ভাববাদীর সঙ্গে তোমার দেখা হবে যারা বীণা, খঞ্জনি, বাঁশী ও তবলা নিয়ে উঁচু স্থান থেকে নেমে আসছে, আর ভাববাণী প্রচার করছে।

6 Then the LORD’s Spirit will come mightily on you, then you will prophesy with them and will be turned into another man.

৬তখন সদাপ্রভুর আত্মা সম্পূর্ণভাবে তোমার উপরে আসবেন, তাতে তুমিও তাদের সঙ্গে ভাববাণী প্রচার করবে এবং অন্য ধরনের মানুষ হয়ে যাবে।

7 Let it be, when these signs have come to you, that you do what is appropriate for the occasion; for God is with you.

৭এই সব চিহ্ন তোমার প্রতি ঘটলে পর তোমার তখন যা করা উচিত তুমি তাই কোরো; কারণ ঈশ্বর তোমার সঙ্গে থাকবেন।

8 “Go down ahead of me to Gilgal; and behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings. Wait seven days, until I come to you and show you what you are to do.”

৮“আর তুমি আমার আগে নেমে গিল্‌গলে যাবে, আর দেখ হোমবলি ও মঙ্গলার্থক বলি উত্সর্গ করবার জন্য আমি তোমার কাছে যাব; আমি যতক্ষণ না তোমার কাছে গিয়ে তোমার কর্তব্য তোমাকে না জানাই সেই পর্যন্ত তুমি সাত দিন অপেক্ষা করবে।”

9 It was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart; and all those signs happened that day.

৯পরে তিনি শমূয়েলের কাছ থেকে চলে যাবার উদ্দেশ্যে ঘুরে দাঁড়াতেই ঈশ্বর তাঁর মন বদলে দিলেন এবং সেই দিন ই সেই সমস্ত চিহ্ন সফল হল।

10 When they came there to the hill, behold, a band of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came mightily on him, and he prophesied among them.

১০তাঁরা সেখানে, সেই পাহাড়ে উপস্থিত হলে, দেখ, এক দল ভাববাদী তাঁর সামনে পড়ল এবং ঈশ্বরের আত্মা শৌলের উপর সবলে এলেন ও তাঁদের মাঝখানে তিনি ভাববাণী প্রচার করতে লাগলেন।

11 When all who knew him before saw that, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, then the people said to one another, “What is this that has come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”

১১আর যারা তাঁকে আগে থেকেই চিনত, তারা সবাই যখন দেখল যে, তিনিও ভাববাদীদের সঙ্গে ভাববাণী প্রচার করছেন, তখন লোকেরা একে অন্যকে বলতে লাগল, “কিসের ছেলের কি হল? শৌলও কি ভাববাদীদের মধ্যে একজন?”

12 One from the same place answered, “Who is their father?” Therefore it became a proverb, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”

১২তাতে সেখানকার একজন লোক বলল, “কিন্তু ওদের বাবা কে?” এই ভাবে, “শৌলও কি ভাববাদীদের মধ্যে একজন?” এই কথাটি প্রবাদ হয়ে উঠল৷

13 When he had finished prophesying, he came to the high place.

১৩পরে তিনি ভাববাণী বলা শেষ করে উঁচু স্থানে উঠে গেলেন।

14 Saul’s uncle said to him and to his servant, “Where did you go?” He said, “To seek the donkeys. When we saw that they were not found, we came to Samuel.”

১৪পরে শৌলের কাকা শৌল ও তাঁর চাকরকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তোমরা কোথায় গিয়েছিলে?” তিনি বললেন, “গাধীগুলো খুঁজতে গিয়েছিলাম, কিন্তু সেগুলো কোথাও না পেয়ে আমরা শমূয়েলের কাছে গিয়েছিলাম।”

15 Saul’s uncle said, “Please tell me what Samuel said to you.”

১৫শৌলের কাকা বললেন, “আমাকে বল, শমূয়েল তোমাদের কি বলেছেন?”

16 Saul said to his uncle, “He told us plainly that the donkeys were found.” But concerning the matter of the kingdom, of which Samuel spoke, he did not tell him.

১৬তখন শৌল তাঁর কাকাকে বললেন, “তিনি আমাদের স্পষ্টই বলে দিলেন যে, গাধীগুলো পাওয়া গেছে।” কিন্তু তাঁর রাজত্ব করার সম্বন্ধে শমূয়েল তাঁকে যে কথা বলেছিলেন তা তিনি তাঁকে বললেন না।

17 Samuel called the people together to the LORD to Mizpah;

১৭পরে শমূয়েল মিসপাতে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে লোকদের ডেকে জড়ো করলেন।

18 and he said to the children of Israel, “The LORD, the God of Israel, says ‘I brought Israel up out of Egypt and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you.’

১৮আর ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানদের বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর এমন বলেন, ‘আমি ইস্রায়েলেকে মিশর থেকে নিয়ে এসেছি এবং মিশরীয়দের হাত থেকে ও যে রাজ্যগুলো তোমাদের উপর অত্যাচার করত তাদের হাত থেকে তোমাদের উদ্ধার করেছি’।”

19 But you have today rejected your God, who himself saves you out of all your calamities and your distresses; and you have said to him, ‘No! Set a king over us!’ Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your thousands.”

১৯“কিন্তু তোমরা আজ তোমাদের ঈশ্বরকে, যিনি সমস্ত বিপদ ও দুর্দশা থেকে তোমাদের উদ্ধার করে চলেছেন, তাঁকেই তোমরা অগ্রাহ্য করলে এবং তাঁকে বললে যে, ‘আমাদের উপরে একজন রাজা নিযুক্ত করুন,’ তাই তোমরা এখন নিজেদের বংশ অনুসারে ও হাজার-হাজার লোক অনুসারে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে উপস্থিত হও।”

20 So Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel near, and the tribe of Benjamin was chosen.

২০পরে শমূয়েল ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত গোষ্ঠীকে কাছে নিয়ে আসলে বিন্যামীন বংশকে নির্দিষ্ট করা হল।

21 He brought the tribe of Benjamin near by their families and the family of the Matrites was chosen. Then Saul the son of Kish was chosen; but when they looked for him, he could not be found.

২১আর এক এক বংশ অনুসারে বিন্যামীন বংশকে কাছে নিয়ে এলে, মট্রীয়ের বংশকে বেছে নেওয়া হল এবং তাদের মধ্য কীশের ছেলে শৌলকে বেছে নেওয়া হল। কিন্তু তাঁর খোঁজ করা হলে তাঁকে পাওয়া গেল না।

22 Therefore they asked of the LORD further, “Is there yet a man to come here?” The LORD answered, “Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage.”

২২সেইজন্য তারা আবার সদাপ্রভুকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “আর কেউ কি এখানে আছে?” সদাপ্রভু বললেন, “দেখ, সে মালপত্রের মধ্যে লুকিয়ে আছে।”

23 They ran and got him there. When he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.

২৩তখন তারা দৌড়ে গিয়ে সেখান থেকে শৌলকে নিয়ে আসল। আর তিনি এসে লোকদের মধ্যে দাঁড়ালে পর দেখা গেল তিনি সবার থেকে লম্বা ও সবাই তাঁর কাঁধ পর্যন্ত।

24 Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him whom the LORD has chosen, that there is no one like him among all the people?” All the people shouted and said, “Long live the king!”

২৪পরে শমূয়েল সবাইকে বললেন, “তোমরা কি একে দেখতে পাচ্ছ? ইনিই সদাপ্রভুর মনোনীত; সমস্ত লোকের মধ্যে তাঁর মত আর কেউ নেই।” তখন সমস্ত লোকেরা জয়ধ্বনি দিয়ে বলল, “রাজা চিরজীবী হোন।”

25 Then Samuel told the people the regulations of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book and laid it up before the LORD. Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.

২৫পরে শমূয়েল লোকদেরকে রাজ্য শাসনের নিয়ম-কানুনগুলো বললেন এবং সেগুলো একটা বইয়ে লিখে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে রাখলেন। তারপর শমূয়েল সমস্ত লোককে যার যার বাড়িতে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।

26 Saul also went to his house in Gibeah; and the army went with him, whose hearts God had touched.

২৬আর শৌলও গিবিয়াতে তাঁর নিজের বাড়িতে ফিরে গেলেন এবং ঈশ্বর যাদের হৃদয় স্পর্শ করলেন এমন একদল সৈন্য তাঁর সঙ্গে গেল।

27 But certain worthless fellows said, “How could this man save us?” They despised him, and brought him no tribute. But he held his peace.

২৭কিন্তু কতগুলো বাজে লোক বলল, “এই লোকটা কি করে আমাদের রক্ষা করবে?” তারা তাঁকে তুচ্ছ করল এবং কোন উপহার দিল না; তবুও তিনি বধিরের (চুপ করে) মত থাকলেন।
