1 Samuel 1
1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.
एफ्राईम के पहाड़ी प्रदेश में रमाथाइम-ज़ोफ़िम नगर में एलकाना नामक एक व्यक्ति था. वह एफ्राईमवासी येरोहाम के पुत्र था और येरोहाम एलिहू के, एलिहू तोहू के तथा तोहू एफ्राईमवासी सूफ़ के पुत्र था.
2 He had two wives. The name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
एलकाना की दो पत्नियां थी; पहली का नाम था हन्नाह और दूसरी का पेनिन्नाह. स्थिति यह थी कि पेनिन्नाह के तो बच्चे थे, मगर हन्नाह बांझ थी.
3 This man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to the LORD of Armies in Shiloh. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests to the LORD, were there.
यह व्यक्ति हर साल अपने नगर से सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह की वंदना करने तथा उन्हें बलि चढ़ाने शीलो नगर जाया करता था. यहीं एली के दो पुत्र, होफ़नी तथा फिनिहास याहवेह के पुरोहितों के रूप में सेवा करते थे.
4 When the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters;
जब कभी एलकाना बलि चढ़ाता था, वह बलि में से कुछ भाग अपनी पत्नी पेनिन्नाह तथा उसकी संतान को दे दिया करता था.
5 but he gave a double portion to Hannah, for he loved Hannah, but the LORD had shut up her womb.
मगर वह अपनी पत्नी हन्नाह को इसका दो गुणा भाग देता था, क्योंकि उन्हें हन्नाह ज्यादा प्रिय थी, यद्यपि याहवेह ने हन्नाह को संतान पैदा करने की क्षमता नहीं दी थी.
6 Her rival provoked her severely, to irritate her, because the LORD had shut up her womb.
हन्नाह की सौत उसे कुढ़ाने के उद्देश्य से उसे सताती रहती थी.
7 So year by year, when she went up to the LORD’s house, her rival provoked her. Therefore she wept, and did not eat.
यह काम हर साल चलता रहता था. जब कभी हन्नाह याहवेह के मंदिर जाती थी, पेनिन्नाह उसे इस प्रकार चिढ़ाती थी, कि हन्नाह रोती रह जाती थी, तथा उसके लिए भोजन करना मुश्किल हो जाता था.
8 Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why do not you eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”
यह देख उसके प्रति एलकाना ने उससे कहा, “हन्नाह, तुम क्यों रो रही हो? तुमने भोजन क्यों छोड़ रखा है? इतनी दुःखी क्यों हो रही हो? क्या मैं तुम्हारे लिए दस पुत्रों से बढ़कर नहीं हूं?”
9 So Hannah rose up after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his seat by the doorpost of the LORD’s temple.
शीलो में एक मौके पर, जब वे खा-पी चुके थे, हन्नाह उठकर याहवेह के सामने चली गई. इस समय पुरोहित एली याहवेह के मंदिर के द्वार पर अपने आसन पर बैठे थे.
10 She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly.
जब हन्नाह याहवेह से प्रार्थना कर रही थी, वह मन में बहुत ही दुःखी थी. उसका रोना भी बहुत तेज होता जा रहा था.
11 She vowed a vow, and said, “LORD of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.”
प्रार्थना करते हुए उसने यह शपथ की: “सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह, यदि आप अपनी दासी की व्यथा पर करुणा-दृष्टि करें, मुझे स्मरण करें, तथा मेरी स्थिति को भुला न दें और अपनी दासी को पुत्र दें, तो मैं उसे आजीवन के लिए आपको समर्पित कर दूंगी. उसके केश कभी काटे न जाएंगे.”
12 As she continued praying before the LORD, Eli saw her mouth.
जब वह याहवेह से प्रार्थनारत थी, एली उसके मुख को ध्यान से देख रहे थे.
13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart. Only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.
हन्नाह यह प्रार्थना अपने मन में कर रही थी. यद्यपि उनके ओंठ हिल रहे थे, उसका स्वर सुनाई नहीं देता था. यह देख एली यह समझे कि हन्नाह नशे में है.
14 Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Get rid of your wine!”
तब उन्होंने हन्नाह से कहा, “और कब तक रहेगा तुम पर यह नशा? बस करो अब यह दाखमधु पान.”
15 Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have not been drinking wine or strong drink, but I poured out my soul before the LORD.
इस पर हन्नाह ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “मेरे प्रभु, स्थिति यह नहीं है, मैं बहुत ही गहन वेदना में हूं. न तो मैंने दाखमधु पान किया है, और न ही द्राक्षारस. मैं अपनी पूरी वेदना याहवेह के सामने उंडेल रही थी.
16 Do not consider your servant a wicked woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation.”
अपनी सेविका को निकम्मी स्त्री न समझिए, क्योंकि यहां मैं अपनी घोर पीड़ा और संताप में यह सम्भाषण कर रही थी.”
17 Then Eli answered, “Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him.”
इस पर एली ने उससे कहा, “शांति में यहां से विदा हो. इस्राएल के परमेश्वर तुम्हारी अभिलाषित इच्छा पूरी करें.”
18 She said, “Let your servant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate; and her facial expression was not sad any more.
हन्नाह ने उत्तर दिया, “आपकी सेविका पर आपका अनुग्रह बना रहे.” यह कहते हुए अपने स्थान को लौट गई और वहां उसने भोजन किया. अब उसके चेहरे पर उदासी नहीं देखी गई.
19 They rose up in the morning early and worshiped the LORD, then returned and came to their house to Ramah. Then Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.
प्रातः उन्होंने जल्दी उठकर याहवेह की आराधना की और वे अपने घर रामाह लौट गए. एलकाना तथा हन्नाह के संसर्ग होने पर याहवेह ने उसे याद किया.
20 When the time had come, Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked him of the LORD.”
सही समय पर हन्नाह ने गर्भधारण किया और एक पुत्र को जन्म दिया. उसने यह याद करते हुए शमुएल नाम दिया, “मैंने याहवेह से इसकी याचना की थी.”
21 The man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to the LORD the yearly sacrifice and his vow.
एलकाना सपरिवार याहवेह को अपनी वार्षिक बलि चढ़ाने और शपथ पूरी करने चला गया,
22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “Not until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and stay there forever.”
मगर हन्नाह उसके साथ नहीं गई. उसने अपने पति से कहा, “जैसे ही शिशु दूध पीना छोड़ देगा, मैं उसे ले जाकर याहवेह के सामने प्रस्तुत करूंगी और फिर वह तब से हमेशा वहीं रहेगा.”
23 Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what seems good to you. Wait until you have weaned him; only may the LORD establish his word.” So the woman waited and nursed her son until she weaned him.
उसके पति एलकाना ने उससे कहा, “तुम्हें जो कुछ सही लगे वही करो. शिशु के दूध छोड़ने तक तुम यहीं ठहरी रहो. याहवेह अपने वचन को पूरा करें.” तब हन्नाह घर पर ही ठहरी रहीं और बालक का दूध छुड़ाने तक उसका पालन पोषण करती रहीं.
24 When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, and one ephah of meal, and a container of wine, and brought him to the LORD’s house in Shiloh. The child was young.
जब बालक ने दूध पीना छोड़ दिया, और बालक आयु में कम ही था, हन्नाह उसे और उसके साथ तीन बछड़े दस किलो आटा तथा एक कुप्पी भर अंगूर का रस लेकर शीलो नगर में याहवेह के मंदिर को गई.
25 They killed the bull, and brought the child to Eli.
जब वे बछड़ों की बलि चढ़ा चुके, वह बालक को एली के पास ले गई.
26 She said, “Oh, my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the LORD.
हन्नाह ने एली से कहा, “मेरे स्वामी, आपके जीवन की शपथ, मैं वही स्त्री हूं, जो आपकी उपस्थिति में एक दिन याहवेह से प्रार्थना कर रही थी.
27 I prayed for this child, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.
मैंने इस पुत्र की प्राप्ति की प्रार्थना की थी, और याहवेह ने मेरी विनती स्वीकार की है.
28 Therefore I have also given him to the LORD. As long as he lives he is given to the LORD.” He worshiped the LORD there.
अब मैं यह बालक याहवेह को ही समर्पित कर रही हूं. आज से यह बालक आजीवन याहवेह के लिए समर्पित है.” फिर उन सभी ने वहां याहवेह की स्तुति की.
