1 Kings 10
1 When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the LORD’s name, she came to test him with hard questions.
Da dronningen av Saba hørte Salomos ry, som skyldtes Herrens navn, kom hun for å sette ham på prøve med gåter.
2 She came to Jerusalem with a very great caravan, with camels that bore spices, very much gold, and precious stones; and when she had come to Solomon, she talked with him about all that was in her heart.
Hun kom til Jerusalem med et stort følge, med kameler som bar krydderier og en stor mengde gull og dyre stener; og da hun var kommet til Salomo, talte hun til ham om alt som lå henne på hjerte.
3 Solomon answered all her questions. There was not anything hidden from the king which he did not tell her.
Men Salomo tydet alle hennes gåter; det var ikke et ord av det hun sa, som var dulgt for kongen, så han ikke kunde tyde det.
4 When the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built,
Da dronningen av Saba så all Salomos visdom og så det hus han hadde bygget,
5 the food of his table, the sitting of his servants, the attendance of his officials, their clothing, his cup bearers, and his ascent by which he went up to the LORD’s house, there was no more spirit in her.
og rettene på hans bord, og hvorledes hans tjenere satt ved bordet, og bordsvennene stod omkring, og hvorledes de var klædd, og hans munnskjenker, og den trapp han gikk op på til Herrens hus, var hun rent ute av sig selv av forundring.
6 She said to the king, “It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom.
Og hun sa til kongen: Så var det da sant det jeg hørte hjemme i mitt land om dig og din visdom.
7 However, I did not believe the words until I came and my eyes had seen it. Behold, not even half was told me! Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame which I heard.
Jeg trodde ikke det de fortalte, før jeg kom og fikk se det med egne øine; men nu ser jeg at de ikke har fortalt mig halvdelen; du overgår i visdom og lykke det rykte jeg har hørt.
8 Happy are your men, happy are these your servants who stand continually before you, who hear your wisdom.
Lykkelige er dine menn, lykkelige disse dine tjenere som alltid står for ditt åsyn og hører din visdom.
9 Blessed is the LORD your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because the LORD loved Israel forever, therefore he made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”
Lovet være Herren din Gud, som hadde velbehag i dig, så han satte dig på Israels trone! Fordi Herren elsker Israel til evig tid, satte han dig til konge for å håndheve rett og rettferdighet.
10 She gave the king one hundred twenty talents of gold, and a very great quantity of spices, and precious stones. Never again was there such an abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
Så gav hun kongen hundre og tyve talenter gull og krydderier i stor mengde og dyre stener; aldri er det mere kommet en sådan mengde krydderier til landet som det dronningen av Saba gav kong Salomo.
11 The fleet of Hiram that brought gold from Ophir also brought in from Ophir great quantities of almug trees and precious stones.
Men også Hirams skiber som hentet gull fra Ofir, hadde ført sandeltre i stor mengde og dyre stener med derfra.
12 The king made of the almug trees pillars for the LORD’s house and for the king’s house, harps also and stringed instruments for the singers; no such almug trees came or were seen to this day.
Av sandeltreet lot kongen gjøre rekkverk til Herrens hus og til kongens hus og citarer og harper for sangerne; aldri er det siden kommet eller blitt sett så meget sandeltre i landet.
13 King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, in addition to that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own land, she and her servants.
Og kong Salomo gav dronningen av Saba alt det hun hadde lyst til og bad om, foruten de gaver som det sømmet sig for så mektig en konge som Salomo å gi henne. Så tok hun avsted og drog hjem til sitt land med sine tjenere.
14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold,
Vekten av det gull som i ett år kom inn til Salomo, var seks hundre og seks og seksti talenter,
15 in addition to that which the traders brought, and the traffic of the merchants, and of all the kings of the mixed people, and of the governors of the country.

16 King Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of gold went to one buckler.
Og kong Salomo lot gjøre to hundre store skjold av uthamret gull - det gikk seks hundre sekel gull med til hvert skjold -
17 He made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three minas of gold went to one shield; and the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
og tre hundre små skjold av uthamret gull - til hvert av disse skjold gikk det med tre miner gull - og kongen satte dem i Libanon-skoghuset.
18 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the finest gold.
Kongen lot også gjøre en stor elfenbenstrone og klædde den med rent gull.
19 There were six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne was round behind; and there were armrests on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the armrests.
Tronen hadde seks trin og en rund topp baktil; på begge sider av setet var det armer, og tett ved armene stod det to løver;
20 Twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps. Nothing like it was made in any kingdom.
og på begge sider av de seks trin stod det tolv løver. Noget sådant har aldri vært gjort i noget annet kongerike.
21 All King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold. None were of silver, because it was considered of little value in the days of Solomon.
Alle kong Salomos drikkekar var av gull, og alle karene i Libanon-skoghuset var av fint gull; der var intet av sølv, det blev ikke regnet for noget i Salomos dager.
22 For the king had a fleet of ships of Tarshish at sea with Hiram’s fleet. Once every three years the fleet of Tarshish came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.
For kongen hadde Tarsis-skiber på havet sammen med Hirams skiber; en gang hvert tredje år kom Tarsis-skibene hjem og hadde med gull og sølv, elfenben og aper og påfugler.
23 So King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.
Kong Salomo blev større enn alle jordens konger i rikdom og visdom.
24 All the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put in his heart.
Fra alle jordens kanter kom folk for å se kong Salomo og høre hans visdom, som Gud hadde lagt i hans hjerte,
25 Year after year, every man brought his tribute, vessels of silver, vessels of gold, clothing, armor, spices, horses, and mules.
og hver av dem hadde gaver med: sølvkar og gullkar og klær og våben og krydderier, hester og mulesler; så gjorde de år om annet.
26 Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen. He had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen. He kept them in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem.
Salomo la sig til mange stridsvogner og hestfolk; han hadde fjorten hundre stridsvogner og tolv tusen hestfolk; dem la han dels i vognbyene, dels hos sig selv i Jerusalem.
27 The king made silver as common as stones in Jerusalem, and cedars as common as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland.
Kongen gjorde sølvet i Jerusalem like så almindelig som sten, og sedertre like så almindelig som morbærtrærne i lavlandet.
28 The horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt. The king’s merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price.
Sine hester lot Salomo innføre fra Egypten; en del kjøbmenn som kongen sendte avsted, hentet fra tid til annen en flokk for en fastsatt pris.
29 A chariot was imported from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for one hundred fifty shekels; and so they exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and to the kings of Syria.
Hver vogn som hentedes op fra Egypten og innførtes, kostet seks hundre sekel sølv og hver hest hundre og femti. Og på samme måte hentet de også vogner og hester derfra til alle hetittenes konger og til kongene i Syria.
