< Revelation 9 >

1 And the fifth agent sounded, and I saw a star fallen from the sky to the earth. And the key of the pit of the abyss was given to him. (Abyssos g12)
The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him. (Abyssos g12)
2 And he opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke ascended out of the pit, like smoke of a burning furnace. And the sun and the air were darkened from the smoke of the pit. (Abyssos g12)
He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and smoke went up out of the shaft, like the smoke from a great furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit. (Abyssos g12)
3 And locusts came forth out of the smoke upon the earth, and power was given to them, like the scorpions of the earth have power.
Then out of the smoke came forth locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4 And it was told them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor anything green, nor any tree, except the men who have not the seal of God on their foreheads.
They were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those people who do not have God's seal on their foreheads.
5 And it was given them that they would not kill them, but that they would be tormented five months. And their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man.
They were given power not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion, when it strikes a person.
6 And in those days men will seek death, and will, no, not find it. And they will long to die, and death will flee from them.
In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
7 And the likeness of the locusts was similar to horses prepared for battle. And upon their heads were like golden crowns, and their faces were as men's faces.
The shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like golden crowns, and their faces were like people's faces.
8 And they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were as of lions.
They had hair like women's hair, and their teeth were like those of lions.
9 And they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots of many horses running into battle.
They had breastplates, like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, or of many horses rushing to war.
10 And they have tails similar to scorpions, and stings. And in their tails they have power to hurt men five months.
They have tails like those of scorpions, and stings. In their tails is their power to harm people for five months.
11 Having a king over them, the agent of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in the Greek he has the name Apollyon. (Abyssos g12)
They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is "Abaddon," and in Greek, he has the name "Apollyon." (Abyssos g12)
12 One woe is departed, behold, two woes yet come after these.
The first woe is past. Look, there are still two woes coming after this.
13 And the sixth agent sounded, and I heard a voice, one from the four horns of the golden altar before God,
The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
14 saying to the sixth agent who has the trumpet, Loose the four agents who have been bound at the great river Euphrates.
saying to the sixth angel who had one trumpet, "Free the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."
15 And the four agents were loosed, who were prepared for the hour and for the day and month and year, so that they would kill the third part of men.
The four angels were freed who had been prepared for this hour and day and month and year, so that they might kill one third of humanity.
16 And the number of the armies of the horsemen was ten thousands of ten thousands. I heard the number of them.
The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million. I heard the number of them.
17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sit on them having breastplates fiery red, and hyacinth color, and brimstone. And the heads of the horses are like heads of lions, and out of their mouths come fire and smoke and brimstone.
Thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of lions. Out of their mouths proceed fire, smoke, and sulfur.
18 By these three plagues the third part of men was killed, by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone coming out of their mouths.
By these three plagues were one third of humanity killed: from the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur, which proceeded out of their mouths.
19 For the power of the horses is in their mouth, and in their tails. For their tails are similar to serpents, having heads, and by them they injure.
For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For their tails are like serpents, and have heads, and with them they harm.
20 And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so that they would not worship the demons, and the golden and silver and brass and stone and wooden idols, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.
The rest of humanity, who were not killed with these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they would not worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of bronze, and of stone, and of wood; which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.
21 And they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
They did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their sexual immorality, nor of their thefts.
