< Revelation 3 >

1 And to the agent of the congregation in Sardis write, These things says he who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I know thy works, that thou have a name that thou live, and thou are dead.
“To the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘These are the words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: I know yoʋr works; yoʋ have made a name for yoʋrself and yoʋ are alive, but actually yoʋ are dead.
2 Become thou watchful, and strengthen the remaining things that thou were going to throw away, for I have not found thy works made complete before my God.
Be watchful and strengthen what remains, which yoʋ were about to throw away, for I have not found yoʋr works to be complete in the sight of my God.
3 Remember therefore how thou have received and heard, and be on guard, and repent. If therefore thou will not watch, I will come upon thee as a thief, and thou will, no, not know what hour I will come upon thee.
So remember what yoʋ have received, and repent. If yoʋ do not wake up, I will come upon yoʋ like a thief, and yoʋ will certainly not know at what hour I will come upon yoʋ.
4 But thou have a few names in Sardis who did not defile their garments. And they will walk with me in white, because they are worthy.
But yoʋ have a few individuals in Sardis who have not defiled their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.
5 He who overcomes, this man will be clothed in white garments, and I will, no, not erase his name out of the book of life. And I will acknowledge his name before my Father, and before his agents.
He who overcomes will be clothed in white garments. I will certainly not blot out his name from the book of life, but will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the congregations.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.’
7 And to the agent of the congregation in Philadelphia write, These things says the Holy, the True, he who has the key of David, who opens, and none will shut it except he who opens, and none will open:
“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘These are the words of him who is holy and true, who has the key of David and opens doors that no one else can open or shut:
8 I know thy works. Behold, I have given before thee an opened door that none is able to shut it, because thou have little power, and thou keep my word, and did not deny my name.
I know yoʋr works. Behold, I have set before yoʋ an open door that no one can shut. I know that yoʋ have little strength, but yoʋ have kept my word and have not denied my name.
9 Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, those who say themselves to be Jews, and are not, but lie, behold, I will make them so that they will come and bow down before thy feet, and may know that I have loved thee.
Those of the synagogue of Satan are liars. They declare themselves to be Jews but are not. Behold, I will make them come and bow down at yoʋr feet, and they will know that I love yoʋ.
10 Because thou keep the word of my perseverance, I also will keep thee from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole inhabited world, to try those who dwell upon the earth.
Because yoʋ have kept my command to persevere, I will keep yoʋ from the hour of trial that is about to come upon the whole world to test those who dwell on the earth.
11 I come quickly, hold firm what thou have, so that none may take thy crown.
I am coming quickly. Hold fast to what yoʋ have so that no one will take yoʋr crown.
12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will, no, not go out any more. And I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem (it comes down out of the heaven from my God), and my new name.
The one who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will no longer go out at all. I will write on him the name of my God, the name of the city of my God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from my God), and the new name he is to receive.
13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the congregations.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.’
14 And to the agent of the congregation in Laodicea write, These things says the Truly, the faithful and true witness, the primacy of the creation of God:
“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the origin of God's creation:
15 I know thy works, that thou are neither cold nor hot. O that thou were cold or hot.
I know yoʋr works; yoʋ are neither cold nor hot. If only yoʋ were cold or hot!
16 So because thou are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to spew thee out of my mouth.
So, because yoʋ are lukewarm, and not hot or cold, I am about to spit yoʋ out of my mouth.
17 Because thou say, I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing, and do not know that thou are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
For yoʋ say, “I am rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing,” but yoʋ do not realize that yoʋ are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.
18 I counsel thee to buy from me gold refined from fire, so that thou may become wealthy, and white garments, so that thou may clothe thyself, and the shame of thy nakedness may not be made known, and eye-salve, so that thou may anoint thine eyes, so that thou may see.
I counsel yoʋ to buy from me gold refined by fire so that yoʋ may be rich, and white garments so that yoʋ may clothe yoʋrself and the shame of yoʋr nakedness may not be revealed, and eye salve to anoint yoʋr eyes so that yoʋ may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.
Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline. Therefore be zealous and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.
21 He who overcomes, I will give him to sit with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.
To him who overcomes I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.
22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the congregations.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.’”
