Psalms 94
1 O Jehovah, thou God to whom vengeance belongs, thou God to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth.
Oh Gospod Bog, ki mu pripada maščevanje, oh Bog, ki mu pripada maščevanje, pokaži se.
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth. Render to the proud a recompense.
Dvigni se, ti sodnik zemlje; povrni nagrado ponosnim.
3 Jehovah, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
Gospod, doklej bodo zlobni, doklej bodo zlobni slavili zmago?
4 They prate, they speak arrogantly. All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.
Kako dolgo bodo izgovarjali in govorili trde stvari in se bahali vsi delavci krivičnosti?
5 They break in pieces thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thy heritage.
Tvoje ljudstvo razbijajo na koščke, oh Gospod in prizadevajo tvojo dediščino.
6 They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless.
Ubijajo vdovo in tujca in morijo osirotele.
7 And they say, Jehovah will not see, nor will the God of Jacob consider.
Vendar pravijo: » Gospod nas ne bo videl niti Bog Jakobov tega ne bo upošteval.«
8 Consider, ye brutish among the people, and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
Razumite, vi brutalni izmed ljudstva, in vi bedaki, kdaj boste modri?
9 He who planted the ear, shall he not hear? He who formed the eye, shall he not see?
Kdor je zasadil uho, da ne bi slišal? Kdor je oblikoval oko, da ne bi videl?
10 He who chastises the nations, shall he not correct, even he who teaches man knowledge?
Kdor kaznuje pogane, da ne bi grajal? Kdor uči človeka spoznanja, da ne bi vedel?
11 Jehovah knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Gospod pozna človekove misli, da so le-te ničevost.
12 Blessed is the man whom thou chasten, O Jehovah, and teach out of thy law,
Blagoslovljen je človek, ki ga karaš, oh Gospod in ga učiš iz svoje postave,
13 that thou may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for a wicked man.
da mu lahko daš počitek od dni nadloge, dokler ni izkopana jama za zlobnega.
14 For Jehovah will not cast off his people, nor will he forsake his inheritance.
Kajti Gospod ne bo zavrgel svojega ljudstva niti ne bo zapustil svoje dediščine.
15 For judgment shall return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Toda sodba se bo vrnila k pravičnosti in vsi iskreni v srcu ji bodo sledili.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
Kdo se bo zame dvignil zoper hudodelce? Ali kdo bo zame vstal zoper delavce krivičnosti?
17 Unless Jehovah had been my help, my soul would have soon dwelt in silence.
Če Gospod ne bi bil moja pomoč, bi moja duša skoraj prebivala v tišini.
18 When I said, My foot slips, thy loving kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.
Ko sem rekel: »Moje stopalo zdrsuje, me je podpiralo tvoje usmiljenje, oh Gospod.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
V množici mojih misli znotraj mene tvoje tolažbe razveseljujejo mojo dušo.
20 Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with thee, which frames mischief by statute?
Mar bo prestol krivičnosti, ki z uzakonitvijo snuje vragolijo, imel družbo s teboj?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of a righteous man, and condemn innocent blood.
Skupaj se zbirajo zoper dušo pravičnega in obsojajo nedolžno kri.
22 But Jehovah has been my high tower, and my God the rock of my refuge.
Toda Gospod je moja obramba in moj Bog je skala mojega zatočišča.
23 And he has brought upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. Jehovah our God will cut them off.
Nadnje bo privedel njihovo lastno krivičnost in odsekal jih bo v njihovi lastni zlobnosti; da, Gospod, naš Bog, jih bo odsekal.
