Psalms 94
1 O Jehovah, thou God to whom vengeance belongs, thou God to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth.
Herr! Als der Rache Gott, als Gott der Rache zeige Dich!
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth. Render to the proud a recompense.
Erhebe Dich als Erdenrichter! Vergilt den Stolzen nach Verdienst!
3 Jehovah, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
Wie lange sollen Frevler, Herr, wie lange sollen Frevler noch frohlocken
4 They prate, they speak arrogantly. All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.
und geifernd so Vermessenes reden und alle Übeltäter so sich brüsten
5 They break in pieces thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thy heritage.
Sie treten, Herr, Dein Volk. Die ewig Deinen quälen sie,
6 They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless.
erwürgen Fremdlinge und Witwen und morden Waisen, sprechend:
7 And they say, Jehovah will not see, nor will the God of Jacob consider.
"Der Herr sieht's nicht; nicht merkt es Jakobs Gott."
8 Consider, ye brutish among the people, and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
Ihr Albernen im Volke werdet klug! Ihr Törichten! Wann wollt ihr das begreifen?
9 He who planted the ear, shall he not hear? He who formed the eye, shall he not see?
Nicht hören sollte, der das Ohr erschafft? Nicht sehen, der das Auge hat gebildet?
10 He who chastises the nations, shall he not correct, even he who teaches man knowledge?
Nicht strafen sollte, der die Heidenvölker züchtigt? Er, der den Menschen Einsicht schenkt?
11 Jehovah knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Die menschlichen Gedanken kennt der Herr, wie sie so eitel sind. -
12 Blessed is the man whom thou chasten, O Jehovah, and teach out of thy law,
Dem Manne Heil, den Du erziehst, o Herr, aus Deiner Lehre ihn belehrst,
13 that thou may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for a wicked man.
ihn ob des Bösen Glück beruhigend, bis daß gegraben ist die Grube für den Frevler:
14 For Jehovah will not cast off his people, nor will he forsake his inheritance.
"Der Herr verstößt sein Volk nicht ganz, verläßt die ewig Seinen nicht.
15 For judgment shall return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Noch immer sitzt er zu Gericht; ihm fallen alle frommen Herzen zu."
16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
Wer steht mir gegen Bösewichter bei? Wer tritt für mich den Übles Tuenden entgegen?
17 Unless Jehovah had been my help, my soul would have soon dwelt in silence.
Wenn nicht der Herr mein Beistand wäre, dann läge meine Seele bald im Reich der Stille.
18 When I said, My foot slips, thy loving kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.
Obschon ich wähnte, daß mein Fuß gewankt, so hält mich dennoch Deine Gnade aufrecht, Herr.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
Und streiten sich in meinem Innern die Gedanken, so labt an Deinen Tröstungen sich meine Seele.
20 Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with thee, which frames mischief by statute?
Hat schon des Unrechts Stuhl der aufgestellt, der Unheil dem Gesetz bereitet?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of a righteous man, and condemn innocent blood.
Sie klagen fromme Seelen an; unschuldig Blut verdammen sie. -
22 But Jehovah has been my high tower, and my God the rock of my refuge.
Doch eine Burg sei mir der Herr, mein Gott, mein Zufluchtsfels!
23 And he has brought upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. Jehovah our God will cut them off.
Er lohne ihnen auch ihr Unrecht; er tilge sie in ihrer Bosheit! Der Herr vertilge sie, er, unser Gott.
