Psalms 87

1 His foundation is in the holy mountains.

2 Jehovah loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

das liebt der Herr; die Sionstore mehr als alle andern Wohnungen Jakobs.

3 Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. (Selah)

Von dir ist Herrliches zu künden, du Gottesstadt. (Sela)

4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon as among those who know me. Behold, Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia: This man was born there.

Erwähne ich auch Rahab und auch Babel wegen ihrer Weisen, Philisterland und Tyrus und Äthiopien: "Es ist dort der geboren",

5 Yea, of Zion it shall be said, this and that man was born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her.

so wird von Sion ausgesagt: "Darin ist Mann um Mann geboren." Das sichert ihm den höchsten Rang.

6 Jehovah will count when he writes up the peoples: This man was born there. (Selah)

Der Herr ist's, der bestätigt, zeichnet er die Völker auf: "Es ist der dort geboren." (Sela)

7 Those who sing as well as those who dance shall say, All my fountains are in thee.

So singt und tanzt, wer immer in dir wohnt.
