< Psalms 80 >

1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou who lead Joseph like a flock. Thou who sit above the cherubim, shine forth.
TO THE OVERSEER. [SET] TO “LILIES OF TESTIMONY.” A PSALM OF ASAPH. Shepherd of Israel, give ear, Leading Joseph as a flock, Inhabiting the cherubim—shine forth,
2 Stir up thy might before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, and come to save us.
Before Ephraim, and Benjamin, and Manasseh, Wake up Your might, and come for our salvation.
3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
O God, cause us to turn back, And cause Your face to shine, and we are saved.
4 O Jehovah God of hosts, how long will thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
YHWH, God of Hosts, until when? You have burned against the prayer of Your people.
5 Thou have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure.
You have caused them to eat bread of tears, And cause them to drink With tears a third time.
6 Thou make us hatred to our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves.
You make us a strife to our neighbors, And our enemies mock at it.
7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
God of Hosts, turn us back, And cause Your face to shine, and we are saved.
8 Thou brought a vine out of Egypt. Thou drove out the nations, and planted it.
You bring a vine out of Egypt, You cast out nations, and plant it.
9 Thou prepared place before it, and it took deep root, and filled the land.
You have looked before it, and root it, And it fills the land,
10 The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs of it were like cedars of God.
Hills have been covered [with] its shadow, And its boughs [are] cedars of God.
11 It sent out its branches to the sea, and its shoots to the River.
It sends forth its branches to the sea, And its shoots to the river.
12 Why have thou broken down its walls, so that all those who pass by the way pluck it?
Why have You broken down its hedges, And everyone passing by the way has plucked it?
13 The boar out of the wood ravages it, and the wild beasts of the field feed on it.
A boar out of the forest tears it, And a wild beast of the fields grazes it.
14 Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts. Look down from heaven, and, behold, and visit this vine,
God of Hosts, turn back, we implore You, Look from the heavens, and see, and inspect this vine,
15 and the stock which thy right hand planted, and the branch that thou made strong for thyself.
And the root that Your right hand planted, And the branch You made strong for Yourself,
16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down. They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
Burned with fire—cut down, They perish from the rebuke of Your face.
17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou made strong for thyself,
Let Your hand be on the man of Your right hand On the son of man You have strengthened for Yourself.
18 so shall we not go back from thee. Revive thou us, and we will call upon thy name.
And we do not go back from You, You revive us, and in Your Name we call.
19 Turn us again, O Jehovah God of hosts, cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
O YHWH, God of Hosts, turn us back, Cause Your face to shine, and we are saved!
