< Psalms 64 >
1 Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint. Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
In finem. Psalmus David. Exaudi, Deus, orationem meam cum deprecor; a timore inimici eripe animam meam.
2 Hide me from the secret counsel of evildoers, from the tumult of the workers of iniquity,
Protexisti me a conventu malignantium, a multitudine operantium iniquitatem.
3 who have whet their tongue like a sword, and have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,
Quia exacuerunt ut gladium linguas suas; intenderunt arcum rem amaram,
4 that they may shoot in secret places at a blameless man. Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
ut sagittent in occultis immaculatum.
5 They encourage themselves in an evil purpose. They converse of laying snares secretly. They say, Who will see them?
Subito sagittabunt eum, et non timebunt; firmaverunt sibi sermonem nequam. Narraverunt ut absconderent laqueos; dixerunt: Quis videbit eos?
6 They search out iniquities, saying, We have accomplished a diligent search. And the inward part of man and the heart are deep.
Scrutati sunt iniquitates; defecerunt scrutantes scrutinio. Accedet homo ad cor altum,
7 But God will shoot at them. With an arrow they shall suddenly be wounded.
et exaltabitur Deus. Sagittæ parvulorum factæ sunt plagæ eorum,
8 So they shall be made to stumble, their own tongue being against them. All who see them shall wag the head.
et infirmatæ sunt contra eos linguæ eorum. Conturbati sunt omnes qui videbant eos,
9 And all men shall fear. And they shall declare the work of God, and shall wisely consider of his doing.
et timuit omnis homo. Et annuntiaverunt opera Dei, et facta ejus intellexerunt.
10 A righteous man shall be glad in Jehovah, and shall take refuge in him. And all the upright in heart shall glory.
Lætabitur justus in Domino, et sperabit in eo, et laudabuntur omnes recti corde.
