< Psalms 52 >

1 Why boast thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The loving kindness of God is continual.
In finem, Intellectus David, Cum venit Doeg Idumæus, et nunciavit Sauli: Venit David in domum Achimelech. Quid gloriaris in malitia, qui potens es in iniquitate?
2 Thy tongue devises wickedness, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
Tota die iniustitiam cogitavit lingua tua: sicut novacula acuta fecisti dolum.
3 Thou love evil more than good, and lying rather than to speak righteousness. (Selah)
Dilexisti malitiam super benignitatem: iniquitatem magis quam loqui æquitatem.
4 Thou love all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
Dilexisti omnia verba præcipitationis, lingua dolosa.
5 God will likewise destroy thee forever. He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent, and root thee out of the land of the living. (Selah)
Propterea Deus destruet te in finem, evellet te, et emigrabit te de tabernaculo tuo: et radicem tuam de terra viventium.
6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying,
Videbunt iusti, et timebunt, et super eum ridebunt, et dicent:
7 Lo, this is the man who did not make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
ecce homo, qui non posuit Deum adiutorem suum: Sed speravit in multitudine divitiarum suarum: et prævaluit in vanitate sua.
8 But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the loving kindness of God forever and ever.
Ego autem, sicut oliva fructifera in domo Dei, speravi in misericordia Dei in æternum: et in sæculum sæculi.
9 I will give thee thanks forever, because thou have done it. And I will hope in thy name in the presence of thy sanctified, for it is good.
Confitebor tibi in sæculum quia fecisti: et expectabo nomen tuum, quoniam bonum est in conspectu sanctorum tuorum.
