< Psalms 47 >

1 O clap your hands, all ye peoples. Shout to God with the voice of triumph.
“To the chief musician, a psalm for the sons of Korach.” All ye people, clap your hands; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For Jehovah Most High is awesome. He is a great King over all the earth.
For the Lord is most high, fear-inspiring; he is a great king over all the earth.
3 He subdues peoples under us, and nations under our feet.
He will subdue people under us, and nations under our feet.
4 He chooses our inheritance for us, the glory of Jacob whom he loved. (Selah)
He will choose for us our inheritance, the excellency of Jacob which he loveth. (Selah)
5 God has gone up with a shout, Jehovah with the sound of a trumpet.
God ascendeth amid a triumphal shout, the Lord, amid the sound of the cornet.
6 Sing praise to God, sing praises. Sing praises to our King, sing praises.
Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth. Sing ye praises with understanding.
For God is King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8 God reigns over the nations. God sits upon his holy throne.
God reigneth over the nations; God sitteth upon his holy throne.
9 The nobles of the peoples are gathered together, the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God. He is greatly exalted.
The nobles of the people are gathered together, [to be with] the people of the God of Abraham; for unto God belong the shields of the earth: he is greatly exalted.
