Psalms 37
1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, nor be thou envious against those who work unrighteousness.
ダビデの歌 悪をなす者のゆえに、心を悩ますな。不義を行う者のゆえに、ねたみを起すな。
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
彼らはやがて草のように衰え、青菜のようにしおれるからである。
3 Trust in Jehovah, and do good. Dwell in the land, and feed on his faithfulness.
主に信頼して善を行え。そうすればあなたはこの国に住んで、安きを得る。
4 Delight thyself also in Jehovah, and he will give thee the desires of thy heart.
主によって喜びをなせ。主はあなたの心の願いをかなえられる。
5 Commit thy way to Jehovah. Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.
あなたの道を主にゆだねよ。主に信頼せよ、主はそれをなしとげ、
6 And he will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, and thy justice as the noon-day.
あなたの義を光のように明らかにし、あなたの正しいことを真昼のように明らかにされる。
7 Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him. Fret not thyself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
主の前にもだし、耐え忍びて主を待ち望め。おのが道を歩んで栄える者のゆえに、悪いはかりごとを遂げる人のゆえに、心を悩ますな。
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Fret not thyself, it tends only to evil-doing.
怒りをやめ、憤りを捨てよ。心を悩ますな、これはただ悪を行うに至るのみだ。
9 For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit the land.
悪を行う者は断ち滅ぼされ、主を待ち望む者は国を継ぐからである。
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked man shall not be. Yea, thou shall diligently consider his place, and he shall not be.
悪しき者はただしばらくで、うせ去る。あなたは彼の所をつぶさに尋ねても彼はいない。
11 But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
しかし柔和な者は国を継ぎ、豊かな繁栄をたのしむことができる。
12 The wicked man plots against the righteous man, and gnashes upon him with his teeth.
悪しき者は正しい者にむかってはかりごとをめぐらし、これにむかって歯がみする。
13 The Lord will laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming.
しかし主は悪しき者を笑われる、彼の日の来るのを見られるからである。
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill such as are upright in the way.
悪しき者はつるぎを抜き、弓を張って、貧しい者と乏しい者とを倒し、直く歩む者を殺そうとする。
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
しかしそのつるぎはおのが胸を刺し、その弓は折られる。
16 Better is a little that the righteous man has than the abundance of many wicked men.
正しい人の持ち物の少ないのは、多くの悪しきの者の豊かなのにまさる。
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Jehovah upholds the righteous.
悪しき者の腕は折られるが、主は正しい者を助けささえられるからである。
18 Jehovah knows the days of the perfect, and their inheritance shall be forever.
主は全き者のもろもろの日を知られる。彼らの嗣業はとこしえに続く。
19 They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
彼らは災の時にも恥をこうむらず、ききんの日にも飽き足りる。
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Jehovah is as the fat of lambs: they shall disintegrate; they shall disintegrate away into smoke.
しかし、悪しき者は滅び、主の敵は牧場の栄えの枯れるように消え、煙のように消えうせる。
21 The wicked man borrows, and pays not again, but the righteous man deals graciously, and gives.
悪しき者は物を借りて返すことをしない。しかし正しい人は寛大で、施し与える。
22 For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land, and those who are cursed by him shall be cut off.
主に祝福された者は国を継ぎ、主にのろわれた者は断ち滅ぼされる。
23 A man's goings are established by Jehovah, and he delights in his way.
人の歩みは主によって定められる。主はその行く道を喜ばれる。
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for Jehovah upholds him with his hand.
たといその人が倒れても、全く打ち伏せられることはない、主がその手を助けささえられるからである。
25 I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen a righteous man forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
わたしは、むかし年若かった時も、年老いた今も、正しい人が捨てられ、あるいはその子孫が食物を請いあるくのを見たことがない。
26 All the day long he deals graciously, and lends, and his seed is blessed.
正しい人は常に寛大で、物を貸し与え、その子孫は祝福を得る。
27 Depart from evil, and do good, and dwell for evermore.
悪をさけて、善を行え。そうすれば、あなたはとこしえに住むことができる。
28 For Jehovah loves justice, and forsakes not his sanctified. They are preserved forever, but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
主は公義を愛し、その聖徒を見捨てられないからである。正しい者はとこしえに助け守られる。しかし、悪しき者の子孫は断ち滅ぼされる。
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever.
正しい者は国を継ぎ、とこしえにその中に住むことができる。
30 The mouth of a righteous man talks of wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.
正しい者の口は知恵を語り、その舌は公義を述べる。
31 The law of his God is in his heart. None of his steps shall slide.
その心には神のおきてがあり、その歩みはすべることがない。
32 A wicked man watches a righteous man, and seeks to kill him.
悪しき者は正しい人をうかがい、これを殺そうとはかる。
33 Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
主は正しい人を悪しき者の手にゆだねられない、またさばかれる時、これを罪に定められることはない。
34 Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, and he will exalt thee to inherit the land. When sinners are cut off, thou shall see it.
主を待ち望め、その道を守れ。そうすれば、主はあなたを上げて、国を継がせられる。あなたは悪しき者の断ち滅ぼされるのを見るであろう。
35 I have seen a wicked man in great power, and spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.
わたしは悪しき者が勝ち誇って、レバノンの香柏のようにそびえたつのを見た。
36 But I passed by, and, lo, he was not. Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
しかし、わたしが通り過ぎると、見よ、彼はいなかった。わたしは彼を尋ねたけれども見つからなかった。
37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright, for there is a happy end to the man of peace.
全き人に目をそそぎ、直き人を見よ。おだやかな人には子孫がある。
38 As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together. The end of the wicked shall be cut off.
しかし罪を犯す者どもは共に滅ぼされ、悪しき者の子孫は断たれる。
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble,
正しい人の救は主から出る。主は彼らの悩みの時の避け所である。
40 and Jehovah helps them, and rescues them. He rescues them from sinners, and saves them, because they have taken refuge in him.
主は彼らを助け、彼らを解き放ち、彼らを悪しき者どもから解き放って救われる。彼らは主に寄り頼むからである。
