Psalms 37
1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, nor be thou envious against those who work unrighteousness.
Von David. / Arge laß nicht zum Eifer dich reizen, / Alle die Frevler beneide nicht!
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Denn wie Gras verschwinden sie eilend / Und verwelken wie grünes Kraut.
3 Trust in Jehovah, and do good. Dwell in the land, and feed on his faithfulness.
Baue auf Jahwe und handle gut, / Bleibe im Lande und pflege Treue!
4 Delight thyself also in Jehovah, and he will give thee the desires of thy heart.
So wirst du Wonne an Jahwe haben, / Der dir gewährt deines Herzens Wunsch.
5 Commit thy way to Jehovah. Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.
Gründe auf Jahwe dein Lebenslos, / Traue auf ihn, denn er macht's wohl!
6 And he will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, and thy justice as the noon-day.
Er läßt deine Unschuld wie Morgenlicht leuchten / Und dein Recht wie die Mittagshelle.
7 Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him. Fret not thyself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
Duldergleich sei stille zu Jahwe und harre sein! / Entrüste dich nicht über den, der Glück hat, / Über den Mann, der Ränke verübt!
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Fret not thyself, it tends only to evil-doing.
Halt dich vom Zorne zurück, laß fahren den Grimm! / Erhitze dich nicht, es führt nur zum Bösen!
9 For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit the land.
Denn Frevler werden ausgerottet; / Die aber Jahwes harren, die erben das Land.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked man shall not be. Yea, thou shall diligently consider his place, and he shall not be.
Wartest du nur ein Weilchen, so ist der Frevler nicht mehr. / Nach seiner Stätte siehst du dich um: er ist dahin!
11 But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
Die Dulder werden das Land ererben / Und sich erfreuen der Fülle des Heils.
12 The wicked man plots against the righteous man, and gnashes upon him with his teeth.
Saat des Unheils sinnet der Böse, / Fletscht seine Zähne gegen den Frommen.
13 The Lord will laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming.
Doch Adonái lachet sein, / Denn er siehet: es kommt sein Tag.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill such as are upright in the way.
Gottlose zücken das Schwert und spannen den Bogen, / Um den Armen und Dürftigen zu fällen, / Um hinzumorden, die redlich wandeln.
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
Doch ihnen ins Herz wird dringen ihr Schwert, / Und ihre Bogen werden zerbrochen.
16 Better is a little that the righteous man has than the abundance of many wicked men.
Trägt der Gerechte auch wenig davon, / Besser ist's immer als vieler Frevler Güterfülle.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Jehovah upholds the righteous.
Denn der Frevler Arm wird zerbrochen, / Aber die Frommen stützt Jahwe.
18 Jehovah knows the days of the perfect, and their inheritance shall be forever.
Jahwe kennt der Redlichen Tage, / Und ihr Besitz wird ewig bestehn.
19 They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
Nicht leiden sie Mangel in böser Zeit, / In den Tagen des Hungers werden sie satt.
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Jehovah is as the fat of lambs: they shall disintegrate; they shall disintegrate away into smoke.
Kläglich kommen die Frevler um; / Wie der Auen Pracht sind Jahwes Feinde: / Sie schwinden dahin wie der Rauch, sie schwinden.
21 The wicked man borrows, and pays not again, but the righteous man deals graciously, and gives.
Lehnt der Frevler, so zahlt er nicht, / Der Gerechte aber tut wohl und gibt.
22 For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land, and those who are cursed by him shall be cut off.
Denn seine Gesegneten erben das Land, / Doch seine Verfluchten werden zunichte.
23 A man's goings are established by Jehovah, and he delights in his way.
Menschen tun feste Schritte mit Jahwes Hilfe, / Wenn ihr Wandel ihm wohlgefällt.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for Jehovah upholds him with his hand.
Mögen sie wanken — sie stürzen nicht, / Denn Jahwe stützt ihre Hände.
25 I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen a righteous man forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Nie hab ich als Knabe noch später im Alter / Den Frommen verlassen gesehn / Und seine Kinder betteln um Brot.
26 All the day long he deals graciously, and lends, and his seed is blessed.
Allezeit tut er wohl und leihet, / Und seine Nachkommen werden zum Segen.
27 Depart from evil, and do good, and dwell for evermore.
Sei fern vom Bösen und tue das Gute, / So wirst du immerdar wohnen bleiben.
28 For Jehovah loves justice, and forsakes not his sanctified. They are preserved forever, but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
Jahwe liebt ja das Recht / Und verläßt seine Frommen nicht; er schützt sie auf immer. / Doch der Frevler Geschlecht wird ausgerottet.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever.
Die Gerechten erben das Land / Und wohnen darin auf ewig.
30 The mouth of a righteous man talks of wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.
Preis der Weisheit verkündet der Fromme, / Und seine Zunge redet, was recht.
31 The law of his God is in his heart. None of his steps shall slide.
Seines Gottes Gesetz ruht ihm im Herzen, / Und seine Schritte wanken nicht.
32 A wicked man watches a righteous man, and seeks to kill him.
Zu verderben den Frommen, lauert der Frevler: / Er sucht ihn zu töten.
33 Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
Doch Jahwe gibt ihn seiner Hand nicht preis, / Er spricht ihn nicht schuldig, wenn Menschen ihn richten.
34 Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, and he will exalt thee to inherit the land. When sinners are cut off, thou shall see it.
Klammre dich an Jahwe, halt ein seinen Weg: / Er wird dich erhöhn, daß du erbest das Land. / Der Frevler Vernichtung siehst du mit an.
35 I have seen a wicked man in great power, and spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.
Reckenhaft kühn sah ich einen Frevler; / Er spreizte sich stolz wie ein grünender Baum.
36 But I passed by, and, lo, he was not. Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
Man ging vorüber: er war nicht mehr. / Als ich ihn suchte — er fand sich nicht.
37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright, for there is a happy end to the man of peace.
Schau auf den Frommen, sieh den Redlichen an: / Nachkommen empfängt der Friedensmann.
38 As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together. The end of the wicked shall be cut off.
Die Frevler jedoch werden alle vertilgt, / Der Bösen Geschlecht wird ausgerottet.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble,
Treu schirmt Jahwe die Gerechten; / Er ist ihre Schutzwehr zur Zeit der Not.
40 and Jehovah helps them, and rescues them. He rescues them from sinners, and saves them, because they have taken refuge in him.
Es hilft ihnen Jahwe und rettet sie; / Er rettet sie von den Frevlern und steht ihnen bei; / Denn sie trauen auf ihn.
