< Psalms 32 >
1 Blessed are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
“A psalm of David.” Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is pardoned!
2 Blessed is the man to whom Jehovah does not impute sin, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
Happy the man to whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no guile!
3 When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all the day long.
While I kept silence, my bones were wasted, By reason of my groaning all the day long.
4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me. My moisture was changed as with the drought of summer. (Selah)
For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me; My moisture dried up, as in summer's drought.
5 I acknowledged my sin to thee, and I did not hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Jehovah, and thou forgave the iniquity of my sin. (Selah)
At length I acknowledged to thee my sin, And did not hide my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgression to the LORD;” And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin! (Pause)
6 For this let everyone who is devout pray to thee in a time when thou may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow they shall not reach to him.
Therefore shall every pious man pray to thee, while thou mayst be found; Surely the floods of great waters shall not come near him.
7 Thou are my hiding-place. Thou will preserve me from trouble. Thou will encompass me around with songs of deliverance. (Selah)
Thou art my hiding-place; thou preservest me from trouble; Thou compassest me about with songs of deliverance. (Pause)
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shall go. I will counsel thee with my eye upon thee.
I will instruct thee, and show thee the way thou shouldst go; I will give thee counsel, and keep mine eye upon thee.
9 Become ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding, whose trappings must be bit and bridle to hold them in, else they will not come near to thee.
Be ye not like the horse and the mule, which have no understanding, Whose mouths must be pressed with the bridle and curb, Because they will not come near thee!
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked, but he who trusts in Jehovah, loving kindness shall encompass him about.
The wicked hath many sorrows; But he that trusteth in the LORD is encompassed with mercies.
11 Be glad in Jehovah, and rejoice, ye righteous. And shout for joy, all ye who are upright in heart.
Rejoice in the LORD, and be glad, ye righteous; Shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart!
