< Psalms 30 >
1 I will extol thee, O Jehovah, for thou have raised me up, and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.
For the end, a Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will exalt you, O Lord; for you have lifted me up, and not caused mine enemies to rejoice over me.
2 O Jehovah my God, I cried to thee, and thou have healed me.
O Lord my God, I cried to you, and you did heal me.
3 O Jehovah, thou have brought up my soul from Sheol. Thou have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. (Sheol )
O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Hades, you have delivered me from [amongst] them that go down to the pit. (Sheol )
4 Sing praise to Jehovah, O ye sanctified of his, and give thanks to his holiness.
Sing to the Lord, you his saints, and give thanks for the remembrance of his holiness.
5 For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy is in the morning.
For anger is in his wrath, but life in his favour: weeping shall wait for the evening, but joy shall be in the morning.
6 As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.
And I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.
7 Thou, Jehovah, of thy favor had made my mountain to stand strong. Thou hid thy face; I was troubled.
O Lord, in your good pleasure you did add strength to my beauty: but you did turn away your face, and I was troubled.
8 I cried to thee, O Jehovah, and to Jehovah I made supplication.
To you, O Lord, will I cry; and to my God will I make supplication.
9 What profit is there in my blood when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? Shall it declare thy truth?
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to destruction? Shall the dust give praise to you? or shall it declare your truth?
10 Hear, O Jehovah, and have mercy upon me. Jehovah, be thou my helper.
The Lord heard, and had compassion upon me; the Lord is become my helper.
11 Thou have turned for me my mourning into dancing. Thou have loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness,
You have turned my mourning into joy for me: you have tore off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 to the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks to thee forever.
that my glory may sing praise to you, and I may not be pierced [with sorrow]. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you for ever.
