< Psalms 123 >
1 To thee do I lift up my eyes, O thou who sit in the heavens.
Canticum graduum. Ad te levavi oculos meos, qui habitas in cælis.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes are to Jehovah our God, until he has mercy upon us.
Ecce sicut oculi servorum, in manibus dominorum suorum, Sicut oculi ancillæ in manibus dominæ suæ: ita oculi nostri ad Dominum Deum nostrum donec misereatur nostri.
3 Have mercy upon us, O Jehovah, have mercy upon us, for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
Miserere nostri Domine, miserere nostri: quia multum repleti sumus despectione:
4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
Quia multum repleta est anima nostra: opprobrium abundantibus, et despectio superbis.
