Psalms 108

1 My heart is fixed, O God, I will sing, yea, I will sing praises, even with my glory.

Canto. Salmo. Di Davide. Saldo è il mio cuore, Dio, saldo è il mio cuore: voglio cantare inni, anima mia.

2 Awake, psaltery and harp. I myself will awake right early.

Svegliatevi, arpa e cetra, voglio svegliare l'aurora.

3 I will give thanks to thee, O Jehovah, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to thee among the nations.

Ti loderò tra i popoli, Signore, a te canterò inni tra le genti,

4 For thy loving kindness is great above the heavens, and thy truth is to the skies.

perché la tua bontà è grande fino ai cieli e la tua verità fino alle nubi.

5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and thy glory above all the earth.

Innàlzati, Dio, sopra i cieli, su tutta la terra la tua gloria.

6 That thy beloved may be delivered, save with thy right hand, and answer us.

Perché siano liberati i tuoi amici,

7 God has spoken in his holiness. I will exult. I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

Dio ha parlato nel suo santuario: «Esulterò, voglio dividere Sichem e misurare la valle di Succot;

8 Gilead is mine. Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the defense of my head. Judah is my scepter.

mio è Gàlaad, mio Manasse, Efraim è l'elmo del mio capo, Giuda il mio scettro.

9 Moab is my wash pot. Upon Edom I will cast my shoe. Over Philistia I will shout.

Moab è il catino per lavarmi, sull'Idumea getterò i miei sandali, sulla Filistea canterò vittoria».

10 Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who has led me to Edom?

Chi mi guiderà alla città fortificata, chi mi condurrà fino all'Idumea?

11 Have thou not cast us off, O God? And thou go not forth, O God, with our armies.

Non forse tu, Dio, che ci hai respinti e più non esci, Dio, con i nostri eserciti?

12 Give us help against the adversary, for vain is the help of man.

Contro il nemico portaci soccorso, poiché vana è la salvezza dell'uomo.

13 Through God we shall do valiantly, for he it is who will tread down our adversaries.

Con Dio noi faremo cose grandi ed egli annienterà chi ci opprime.
