Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou know not what a day may bring forth.
૧આવતી કાલની બડાશ મારીશ નહિ, કારણ કે આવતીકાલે શું થઈ જશે તે તું જાણતો નથી.
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth, a stranger, and not thine own lips.
૨બીજો માણસ તારાં વખાણ ભલે કરે, પણ તું તારે મુખે તારાં વખાણ ન કર; પારકા કરે તો ભલે, પણ તારા પોતાના હોઠ ન કરે.
3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty, but a fool's vexation is heavier than both.
૩પથ્થર વજનદાર હોય છે અને રેતી ભારે હોય છે; પણ મૂર્ખની ઉશ્કેરણી બંને કરતાં ભારે હોય છે.
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming, but who is able to stand before jealousy?
૪ક્રોધ ક્રૂર છે અને કોપ રેલરૂપ છે, પણ ઈર્ષ્યા આગળ કોણ ટકી શકે?
5 Better is open rebuke than love that is hidden.
૫છુપાવેલા પ્રેમ કરતાં ઉઘાડો ઠપકો સારો છે.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are profuse.
૬મિત્રના ઘા પ્રામાણિક હોય છે, પણ દુશ્મનનાં ચુંબન ખુશામતથી ભરેલા હોય છે.
7 The full soul loathes a honeycomb, but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
૭ધરાયેલાને મધ પણ કડવું લાગે છે, પણ ભૂખ્યાને દરેક કડવી વસ્તુ પણ મીઠી લાગે છે.
8 As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man who wanders from his place.
૮પોતાનું ઘર છોડીને ભટકતી વ્યક્તિ જેણે પોતાનો માળો છોડી દીધો હોય તેવા પક્ષી જેવી છે.
9 Oil and perfume rejoice the heart, so too the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
૯જેમ સુગંધીથી અને અત્તરથી મન પ્રસન્ન થાય છે, તેમ અંત: કરણથી સલાહ આપનાર મિત્રની મીઠાશથી પણ થાય છે.
10 Forsake not thine own friend, and thy father's friend. And go not to thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity. Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far off.
૧૦તારા પોતાના મિત્રને તથા તારા પિતાના મિત્રને તજીશ નહિ; વિપત્તિને સમયે તારા ભાઈના ઘરે ન જા. દૂર રહેતા ભાઈ કરતાં નજીકનો પડોશી સારો છે.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him who reproaches me.
૧૧મારા દીકરા, જ્ઞાની થા અને મારા હૃદયને આનંદથી ભરી દે, જેથી મને મહેણાં મારનારને હું જવાબ આપી શકું.
12 A prudent man sees the evil, and hides himself. The simple pass on, and suffer for it.
૧૨શાણો માણસ આફતને આવતી જોઈને તેને ટાળે છે, પણ મૂર્ખ માણસ આગળ વધતો રહે છે અને તેને લીધે સહન કરે છે.
13 Take his garment who is surety for a stranger, and hold him in pledge who is surety for a strange woman.
૧૩અજાણ્યા માટે જામીનગીરી આપનારનું વસ્ત્ર લઈ લે અને જો તે દુરાચારી સ્ત્રીનો જામીન થાય; તો તેને જવાબદારીમાં રાખ.
14 He who blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be considered a curse to him.
૧૪જે કોઈ પરોઢિયે ઊઠીને પોતાના મિત્રને મોટે સાદે આશીર્વાદ આપે છે, તે તેને શાપ સમાન લાગશે.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day, and a contentious woman are alike.
૧૫ચોમાસામાં વરસાદનું સતત વરસવું તથા કજિયાળી સ્ત્રી એ બંને સરખાં છે.
16 He who would restrain her restrains the wind, and his right hand encounters oil.
૧૬જે તેને રોકી શકે તે પવનને રોકી શકે, અથવા પોતાના જમણા હાથમાં લગાડેલા તેલની સુગંધ પણ પકડી શકે.
17 Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
૧૭લોઢું લોઢાને ધારદાર બનાવે છે; તેમ એક મિત્ર બીજા મિત્રને તેજ બનાવે છે.
18 He who keeps the fig tree shall eat the fruit of it, and he who regards his master shall be honored.
૧૮જે કોઈ અંજીરી સાચવે છે તે અંજીર ખાશે અને જે પોતાના માલિકની કાળજી રાખે છે તે માન પામે છે.
19 As in water face is to face, so the heart of a man is to a man.
૧૯જેમ માણસના ચહેરાની પ્રતિમા પાણીમાં પડે છે, તેવી જ રીતે એક માણસના હૃદયનું પ્રતિબિંબ બીજા માણસ પર પડે છે.
૨૦જેમ શેઓલ અને વિનાશ કદી તૃપ્ત થતાં નથી; તે જ રીતે માણસની આંખો કદી તૃપ્ત થતી નથી. (Sheol h7585)
21 The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, and a man is tried by his praise.
૨૧ચાંદી ગાળવા સારુ કુલડી અને સોનાને માટે ભઠ્ઠી હોય છે; તેમ માણસની પરીક્ષા તેની પ્રશંસા ઉપરથી થાય છે.
22 Though thou should pound a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his foolishness will not depart from him.
૨૨જો તું મૂર્ખને ખાંડણિયામાં નાખીને ખંડાતા દાણા સાથે સાંબેલાથી ખાંડે, તોપણ તેની મૂર્ખાઈ તેનાથી જુદી પડવાની નથી.
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
૨૩તારાં ઘેટાંબકરાંની પરિસ્થિતિ જાણવાની કાળજી રાખ અને તારાં જાનવરની યોગ્ય દેખરેખ રાખ.
24 For riches are not forever. And does the crown endure to all generations?
૨૪કેમ કે દ્રવ્ય સદા ટકતું નથી. શું મુગટ વંશપરંપરા ટકે છે?
25 The hay is carried, and the tender grass shows itself, and the herbs of the mountains are gathered in.
૨૫સૂકું ઘાસ લઈ જવામાં આવે છે કે તરત ત્યાં કુમળું ઘાસ ઊગી નીકળે છે અને પર્વત પરની વનસ્પતિનો સંગ્રહ કરવામાં આવે છે.
26 The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the cost of the field.
૨૬ઘેટાં તારા વસ્ત્રોને અર્થે હોય છે અને બકરાં તારા ખેતરનું મૂલ્ય છે.
27 And then will be goats' milk enough for thy food; for the food of thy household, and maintenance for thy maidens.
૨૭વળી બકરીઓનું દૂધ તારે માટે, તારા કુટુંબને માટે અને તારી દાસીઓના ગુજરાન માટે પૂરતું થશે.
