< Proverbs 26 >
1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not seemly for a fool.
Ngati chisanu choti mbee nthawi yachilimwe kapena mvula nthawi yokolola, ndi momwe zilili ndi ulemu wowulandira chitsiru.
2 As the sparrow in her wandering, as the swallow in her flying, so the curse that is causeless does not alight.
Ngati timba wokhalira kuwuluka kapena namzeze wokhalira kuzungulirazungulira, ndi mmenenso limachitira temberero lopanda chifukwa, silichitika.
3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools.
Mkwapulo ndi wokwapulira kavalo, chitsulo ndi cha mʼkamwa mwa bulu, choncho ndodo ndi yoyenera ku msana wa chitsiru.
4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like to him.
Usayankhe chitsiru monga mwa uchitsiru wake, kuopa kuti ungadzakhale ngati chitsirucho.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
Koma nthawi zina umuyankhe monga mwa uchitsiru wake, kuopa kuti angamadziyese yekha wanzeru.
6 He who sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off the feet, and drinks injury.
Kutuma chitsiru kuti akapereke uthenga kuli ngati kudzidula mapazi ndipo kumakuyitanira mavuto.
7 The legs of a lame man hang loose. So is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
Monga miyendo ya munthu wolumala imene ilibe mphamvu ndi mmene ulili mwambi mʼkamwa mwa chitsiru.
8 As he who binds a stone in a sling, so is he who gives honor to a fool.
Kupereka ulemu kwa chitsiru zili ngati kukulunga mwala mʼlegeni.
9 As a thorn that goes up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
Monga umachitira mtengo waminga wobaya mʼdzanja la chidakwa ndi mmene ulili mwambi mʼkamwa mwa chitsiru.
10 As an archer who wounds all, so is he who hires a fool, and he who hires those who pass by.
Munthu amene amalemba ntchito chitsiru chongoyendayenda, ali ngati woponya mivi amene angolasa anthu chilaselase.
11 As a dog who returns to his vomit, is a fool who repeats his folly.
Chitsiru chimene chimabwerezabwereza uchitsiru wake chili ngati galu amene amabwerera ku masanzi ake.
12 See thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope for a fool than of him.
Munthu wa uchitsiru aliko bwino popeza pali chiyembekezo kuposana ndi munthu amene amadziyesa yekha kuti ndi wanzeru.
13 The sluggard says, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.
Munthu waulesi amati, “Mu msewu muli mkango, mkango woopsa ukuyendayenda mʼmisewu!”
14 The door turns upon its hinges, so does the sluggard upon his bed.
Monga chitseko chimapita uku ndi uku pa zolumikizira zake, momwemonso munthu waulesi amangotembenukatembenuka pa bedi lake.
15 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish. It wearies him to bring it again to his mouth.
Munthu waulesi akapisa dzanja lake mu mʼbale; zimamutopetsa kuti alifikitse pakamwa pake.
16 The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men who can render a reason.
Munthu waulesi amadziyesa yekha wanzeru kuposa anthu asanu ndi awiri amene amayankha mochenjera.
17 He who passes by, and meddles with strife not his, is like he who takes a dog by the ears.
Munthu wongolowera mikangano imene si yake ali ngati munthu wogwira makutu a galu wongodziyendera.
18 As a madman who casts firebrands, arrows, and death,
Monga munthu wamisala amene akuponya sakali zamoto kapena mivi yoopsa,
19 so is the man who deceives his neighbor, and says, Am I not in sport?
ndi momwe alili munthu wonamiza mnzake, amene amati, “Ndimangoseka chabe!”
20 For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, contention ceases.
Pakasowa nkhuni, moto umazima; chomwechonso pakasowa anthu amiseche mkangano umatha.
21 As coals are to hot embers, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to inflame strife.
Monga alili makala pa moto wonyeka kapena mmene zimachitira nkhuni pa moto, ndi mmene alili munthu wolongolola poyambitsa mikangano.
22 The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts.
Mawu a munthu wamiseche ali ngati chakudya chokoma; chimene chimatsikira mʼmimba mwa munthu.
23 Fervent lips and a wicked heart are an earthen vessel overlaid with silver dross.
Monga mmene chiziro chimakutira chiwiya chadothi ndi mmene mawu oshashalika amabisira mtima woyipa.
24 He who hates masquerades with his lips, but he lays up deceit within him.
Munthu wachidani amayankhula zabwino pamene mu mtima mwake muli chinyengo.
25 When he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart.
Ngakhale wotereyu mawu ake ali okoma, koma usamukhulupirire, pakuti mu mtima mwake mwadzaza zonyansa.
26 Though his hatred cover itself with guile, his wickedness shall be openly shown before the assembly.
Ngakhale amabisa chidani mochenjera, koma kuyipa kwakeko kudzaonekera poyera pa gulu la anthu.
27 He who digs a pit shall fall in it, and he who rolls a stone, it shall return upon him.
Ngati munthu akumba dzenje, adzagweramo yekha; ngati munthu agubuduza mwala, udzamupsinja iye mwini.
28 A lying tongue hates those whom it has wounded, and a flattering mouth works ruin.
Munthu wonama amadana ndi amene anawapweteka, ndipo pakamwa poshashalika pamabweretsa chiwonongeko.
