< Proverbs 14 >
1 Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish woman plucks it down with her own hands.
La mujer sabia edifica su casa: mas la insensata con sus manos la derriba.
2 He who walks in his uprightness fears Jehovah, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
El que camina en su rectitud, teme a Jehová: mas el pervertido en sus caminos, le menosprecia.
3 In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
En la boca del insensato está la vara de la soberbia: mas los labios de los sabios los guardarán.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but by the strength of the ox is much increase.
Sin bueyes, el alfolí está limpio: mas por la fuerza del buey hay abundancia de panes.
5 A faithful witness will not lie, but a false witness utters lies.
El testigo verdadero, no mentirá: mas el testigo falso hablará mentiras.
6 A scoffer seeks wisdom, and finds it not, but knowledge is easy to him who has understanding.
Buscó el burlador la sabiduría, y no la halló: mas la sabiduría al hombre entendido es fácil.
7 Go into the presence of a foolish man, and thou shall not perceive the lips of knowledge.
Vete de delante del hombre insensato: pues no le conociste labios de ciencia.
8 The wisdom of a prudent man is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
La ciencia del cuerdo es entender su camino: mas la insensatez de los fatuos es engaño.
9 Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is good will.
Los insensatos hablan pecado; mas entre los rectos hay amor.
10 The heart knows its own bitterness, and a stranger does not intermeddle with its joy.
El corazón conoce la amargura de su alma; y extraño no se entremeterá en su alegría.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown, but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
La casa de los impíos será asolada: mas la tienda de los rectos florecerá.
12 There is a way which seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Hay camino que al hombre le parece derecho: mas su salida es caminos de muerte.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is heaviness.
Aun en la risa tendrá dolor el corazón; y la salida de la alegría es congoja.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and a good man from his own fruits.
De sus caminos será harto el apartado de razón; y el hombre de bien se apartará de él.
15 A simple man believes every word, but the prudent man looks well to his going.
El simple cree a toda palabra: mas el entendido entiende sus pasos.
16 A wise man fears, and departs from evil, but the fool bears himself insolently, and is confident.
El sabio teme, y apártase del mal: mas el insensato enójase, y confía.
17 He who is soon angry will deal foolishly. And a man of wicked devices is hated.
El que de presto se enoja, hará locura; y el hombre de malos pensamientos será aborrecido.
18 The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Los simples heredarán la insensatez: mas los cuerdos se coronarán de sabiduría.
19 The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Los malos se inclinaron delante de los buenos; y los impíos, a las puertas del justo.
20 The poor man is regarded inferior even by his own neighbor, but the rich man has many friends.
El pobre es odioso aun a su amigo: mas los que aman al rico, son muchos.
21 He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has pity on the poor, happy is he.
El pecador menosprecia a su prójimo: mas el que tiene misericordia de los pobres, es bienaventurado.
22 Do they not err who devise evil? But mercy and truth are to those who devise good.
¿No yerran, los que piensan mal? mas los que piensan bien tendrán misericordia, y verdad.
23 In all labor there is profit, but the talk of the lips tends only to poverty.
En todo trabajo hay abundancia: mas la palabra de los labios solamente empobrece.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches. The foolishness of fools is folly.
La corona de los sabios es sus riquezas: mas la insensatez de los fatuos su fatuidad.
25 A true witness delivers souls, but he who utters lies causes deceit.
El testigo verdadero libra las almas: mas el engañoso hablará mentiras.
26 In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence, and his sons shall have a place of refuge.
En el temor de Jehová está la fuerte confianza; y allí sus hijos tendrán esperanza.
27 The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
El temor de Jehová es manadero de vida, para ser apartado de los lazos de la muerte.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's glory, but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
En la multitud del pueblo está la gloria del rey; y en la falta del pueblo, la flaqueza del príncipe.
29 He who is slow to anger is of great understanding, but he who is hasty of spirit exalts folly.
El que tarde se aira, es grande de entendimiento: mas el corto de espíritu, engrandece la locura.
30 A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh, but envy is the rottenness of the bones.
El corazón blando es vida de las carnes: mas la envidia, pudrimiento de huesos.
31 He who oppresses a poor man reproaches his maker, but he who has mercy on a needy man honors him.
El que oprime al pobre, afrenta a su hacedor: mas el que tiene misericordia del pobre, le honra.
32 An evil man is thrust down in his evil-doing, but a righteous man has hope in his death.
Por su maldad será lanzado el impío: mas el justo, en su muerte tiene esperanza.
33 Wisdom rests in the heart of him who has understanding, but what is in the inward part of fools is made known.
En el corazón del cuerdo reposará la sabiduría; y en medio de los insensatos es conocida.
34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
La justicia engrandece la gente: mas el pecado es afrenta de las naciones.
35 The king's favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath will be to him who causes shame.
La benevolencia del rey es para con el siervo entendido: mas el que le avergüenza, es su enojo.
