< Proverbs 10 >

1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
Solomo ƒe lododowo: Ɖevi si nya nu la nana fofoa kpɔa dzidzɔ, ke ɖevi si tsi bome la hea nuxaxa vɛ na dadaa.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
Kesinɔnu si wokpɔ to mɔ fitifitiwo dzi la menye viɖe aɖeke o, gake dzɔdzɔnyenye ɖea ame tso ku me.
3 Jehovah will not allow the soul of a righteous man to famish, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
Yehowa menaa dɔ wua ame dzɔdzɔewo o, ke egblẽa ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe didiwo me.
4 He who works with a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son. He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.
Ame si ƒoa nukuwo nu ƒu le dzomeŋɔli la nye vi nyanu, ke ame si dɔa alɔ̃ le nuŋeɣi la, vi ŋukpenuwɔlae.
6 Blessings are upon the head of a righteous man, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Yayra anye fiakuku anɔ ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe ta ke ŋutasesẽ yɔa ame vɔ̃ ƒe nu me.
7 The memory of a righteous man is blessed, but the name of the wicked shall rot.
Ŋkuɖoɖo ame dzɔdzɔe dzi anye yayra, ke ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe ŋkɔ aƒaƒã.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments, but a prating fool shall fall.

10 He who winks with the eye causes sorrow. And a prating fool shall fall.

11 The mouth of a righteous man is a fountain of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe nu nye agbevudo, ke ŋutasesẽ yɔa ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe nu me.
12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all transgressions.
Fuléle hea mama vɛ, gake lɔlɔ̃ tsyɔa dzidadawo katã dzi.
13 In the lips of him who has discernment wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
Nunya le nugɔmeselawo ƒe nuyi dzi, ke ameƒoti adze dzime na numanyalawo.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of a foolish man is a present destruction.
Nunyalawo dzraa gɔmesese ɖo, ke bometsila ƒe nu hea gbegblẽ vɛ.
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Kesinɔtɔwo ƒe kesinɔnuwo nye du si ŋu wotɔ glikpɔ sesẽ ɖo, ke hiãtɔwo ƒe ahedada nye woƒe gbegblẽ.
16 The labor of a righteous man produces life. The fruit of a wicked man is to sin.
Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe dɔwɔfetu hea agbe vɛ nɛ, gake ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe viɖe hea tohehe vɛ nɛ.
17 He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof errs.
Ame si ɖo to amehehe la le agbemɔ fiam gake ame si gbea ɖɔɖɔɖo la kplɔa ame bubuwo tranae.
18 He who hides hatred is of lying lips. And he who utters a slander is a fool.

23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief, and so is wisdom to a man of understanding.
Bometsila kpɔa dzidzɔ le nu tovo wɔwɔ ŋu, ke ame si sea nu gɔme la, nunyae nye eƒe dzidzɔ.
24 The fear of a wicked man shall come upon him. And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Nu si vɔ̃m ame vɔ̃ɖi le lae ava tui, ke nu si dim dzɔdzɔetɔ le la, eyae woanae.
25 When the whirlwind passes, the wicked man is no more, but the righteous man is an everlasting foundation.
Ne ahomya ƒo va yi la, ame vɔ̃ɖi la maganɔ anyi o, ke ame dzɔdzɔe ya anɔ te sesĩe ɖaa.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
Abe ale si aha tsitsi nɔna na aɖu eye dzudzɔ nɔna na ŋku ene la, nenema kuviatɔ le na ame siwo dɔ dɔe.
27 The fear of Jehovah prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Yehowavɔvɔ̃ nana agbe didina. Ke ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe agbenɔƒewo le kpuie.
28 The hope of the righteous is gladness, but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
Yehowa ƒe mɔ nye sitsoƒe na ame dzɔdzɔe, ke enye gbegblẽ na nu tovo wɔlawo.
30 A righteous man shall never be removed, but the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
Womaho ame dzɔdzɔe la akpɔ gbeɖe o gake ame vɔ̃ɖi ya manɔ anyigba la dzi o.
31 The mouth of a righteous man brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue shall be cut off.
Nunya dona tso dzɔdzɔetɔ la ƒe nu me, gake woalã alakpaɖe la ɖa.
32 The lips of a righteous man knows what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverseness.
Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe nuyiwo nya nya dzeto gbɔgblɔ, gake ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe nu gblɔa nya tovowo.
