< Nehemiah 5 >

1 Then there arose a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brothers the Jews.
Nísinsin yìí àwọn ènìyàn àti àwọn ìyàwó wọn kígbe ńlá sókè sí àwọn Júù arákùnrin wọn.
2 For there were who said, We, our sons and our daughters, are many. Let us get grain that we may eat and live.
Àwọn kan ń wí pé, “Àwa àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti àwọn ọmọbìnrin wa pọ̀; kí àwa kí ó le è jẹ, kí a sì wà láààyè, a gbọdọ̀ rí oúnjẹ.”
3 There were some also who said, We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses. Let us get grain because of the dearth.
Àwọn mìíràn wí pé, “Àwa ti fi oko wa ọgbà àjàrà wa àti ilé wa dógò kí àwa kí ó lè rí oúnjẹ ní àkókò ìyàn.”
4 There were also who said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute upon our fields and our vineyards.
Síbẹ̀ àwọn mìíràn wí pé, “Àwa ní láti yá owó láti san ìṣákọ́lẹ̀ fún ọba lórí àwọn oko wa àti àwọn ọgbà àjàrà wa.
5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our sons as their sons. And, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought into bondage already. Neither is it in our power to help it, for other men have our fields and our vineyards.
Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé a jẹ́ ẹran-ara kan àti ẹ̀jẹ̀ kan gẹ́gẹ́ bí àwọn ará ìlú wa tí àwọn ọmọkùnrin wa sì dára bí í tiwọn, síbẹ̀ àwa ní láti fi àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti àwọn ọmọbìnrin wa sí oko ẹrú. Díẹ̀ nínú àwọn ọmọbìnrin wa ti wà lóko ẹrú náà, ṣùgbọ́n àwa kò ní agbára, nítorí àwọn oko àti ọgbà àjàrà wa ti di ti ẹlòmíràn.”
6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
Èmi bínú gidigidi nígbà tí mo gbọ́ igbe wọn àti àwọn ẹ̀sùn wọ̀nyí.
7 Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the ranking men and the rulers, and said to them, Ye exact usury, everyone of his brother. And I held a great assembly against them.
Mo rò wọ́n wò ní ọkàn mi mo sì fi ẹ̀sùn kan ọlọ́lá àti àwọn ìjòyè. Mo sọ fún wọn pé, ẹ̀yin ń gba owó èlé lọ́wọ́ àwọn ará ìlú u yín! Nítorí náà mo pe àpéjọ ńlá láti bá wọn wí.
8 And I said to them, According to our ability we have redeemed our brothers the Jews, who were sold to the nations, and would ye even sell your brothers, and should they be sold to us? Then they were silent, and found not a word.
Mo sì wí fún wọn pé, “Níbi tí àwa ní agbára mọ, àwa ti ra àwọn Júù arákùnrin wa tí a ti tà fún àwọn tí kì í ṣe Júù padà. Nísinsin yìí ẹ̀yìn ń ta àwọn arákùnrin yín, tí àwa sì tún ní láti rà wọ́n padà!” Wọ́n dákẹ́, nítorí wọn kò rí ohunkóhun sọ.
9 Also I said, The thing that ye do is not good. Ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God, because of the reproach of the nations our enemies?
Nítorí náà, mo tẹ̀síwájú pé, “Ohun tí ẹ̀ ń ṣe kò dára. Kò ha yẹ kí ẹ máa rìn nínú ìbẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run bí, láti yẹra fún ẹ̀gàn àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè mìíràn tí í ṣe ọ̀tá wa?
10 And I likewise, my brothers and my servants, lend them money and grain. I pray you, let us leave off this usury.
Èmi àti àwọn arákùnrin mi àti àwọn ènìyàn mi, pẹ̀lú ń yá àwọn ènìyàn lówó àti oúnjẹ. Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ jẹ́ kí a dáwọ́ owó èlé gbígbà yìí dúró!
11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their fields, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
Ẹ fún wọn ní oko wọn, ọgbà àjàrà wọn, ọgbà olifi wọn àti ilé e wọn pẹ̀lú owó èlé tí ẹ ti gbà lọ́wọ́ wọn ìdá ọgọ́rùn-ún owó, oúnjẹ, wáìnì tuntun àti òróró tí ẹ ti gbà lọ́wọ́ wọn padà kíákíá.”
12 Then they said, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them, so will we do, even as thou say. Then I called the priests, and took an oath from them that they would do according to this promise.
Wọ́n wí pé, “Àwa yóò dá a padà. Àwa kì yóò sì béèrè ohunkóhun lọ́wọ́ wọn mọ́. Àwa yóò ṣe bí o ti wí.” Nígbà náà mo pe àwọn àlùfáà, mo sì mú kí àwọn ọlọ́lá àti àwọn ìjòyè búra láti jẹ́ kí wọ́n ṣe ohun tí wọ́n ti ṣe ìlérí.
13 Also I shook out my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, who does not perform this promise, even thus be he shaken out and emptied. And all the assembly said, Truly, and praised Jehovah. And the people did according to this promise.
Mo sì gbọn ìṣẹ́tí aṣọ mi, mo wí pé, “Báyìí ni kí Ọlọ́run gbọn olúkúlùkù ènìyàn tí kò bá pa ìlérí yìí mọ́ jáde kúrò ní ilẹ̀ ìní i rẹ̀. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí a gbọn irú ẹni bẹ́ẹ̀ jáde kí ó sì ṣófo!” Gbogbo ìjọ ènìyàn sì wí pé, “Àmín,” wọ́n sì fi ìyìn fún Olúwa. Àwọn ènìyàn náà sì ṣe bí wọ́n ti ṣe ìlérí.
14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brothers have not eaten the bread of the governor.
Síwájú sí í, láti ogún ọdún ọba Artasasta, nígbà tí a ti yàn mí láti jẹ́ baálẹ̀ wọn ní ilẹ̀ Juda, títí di ọdún kejìlélọ́gbọ̀n ìjọba rẹ̀—ọdún méjìlá, èmi àti àwọn arákùnrin mi kò jẹ oúnjẹ baálẹ̀.
15 But the former governors who were before me charged the people, and took bread and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver. Yes, even their servants bore rule over the people. But I did not so, because of the fear of God.
Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn baálẹ̀ ìṣáájú—tí ó ti wà ṣáájú mi—gbe àjàgà wúwo lé àwọn ènìyàn lórí yàtọ̀ fún oúnjẹ àti wáìnì wọ́n sì tún gba ogójì ṣékélì fàdákà lọ́wọ́ wọn. Kódà àwọn ìránṣẹ́ wọn tún jẹ gàba lórí wọn. Ṣùgbọ́n èmi kò ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ nítorí ìbẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run.
16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither did we buy any land. And all my servants were gathered there to the work.
Dípò bẹ́ẹ̀, mo fi ara mi jì fún iṣẹ́ lórí odi yìí. Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn mi péjọ síbẹ̀ fún iṣẹ́ náà; a kò sì gba ilẹ̀ kankan.
17 Moreover there were at my table, of the Jews and the rulers, a hundred and fifty men, besides those who came to us from among the nations that were round about us.
Síwájú sí í, àádọ́jọ àwọn Júù àti àwọn ìjòyè jẹun lórí tábìlì mi, àti pẹ̀lú àwọn tí wọ́n wá bá wa láti àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí ó yí wa ká.
18 Now that which was prepared for one day was one ox and six choice sheep, also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine. Yet for all this I did not demand the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
Ní ọjọ́ kọ̀ọ̀kan ni a máa ń pèsè màlúù kan, ààyò àgùntàn mẹ́fà àti adìyẹ fún mi àti lẹ́ẹ̀kan ní ọjọ́ mẹ́wàá ni wọ́n máa ń pèsè onírúurú wáìnì tí ó pọ̀ fún mi. Fún gbogbo èyí, èmi kò béèrè oúnjẹ baálẹ̀, nítorí ohun ti a ń béèrè lọ́wọ́ àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí pọ̀ jọjọ.
19 Remember to me, O my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.
Rántí mi, Ọlọ́run mi, fún rere, nítorí fún gbogbo ohun tí mo ti ṣe fún àwọn ènìyàn yìí.
