Matthew 23
1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples, saying,
Atunci Isus a vorbit mulțimilor și discipolilor săi,
2 The scholars and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat.
Spunând: Scribii și fariseii șed pe scaunul lui Moise;
3 All things therefore, however many they may tell you to observe, observe and do, but do not ye according to their works, for they say, and do not.
De aceea toate, oricâte vă spun ei să țineți, [acestea] să [le] țineți și să [le] faceți; dar să nu faceți conform cu faptele lor; fiindcă ei spun și nu fac.
4 For they bind heavy burdens and difficult to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders, but they do not want to move them with their finger.
Fiindcă leagă sarcini grele și greu de purtat și le pun pe umerii oamenilor; dar ei, nici cu degetul lor, nu voiesc să le miște.
5 But all their works they do in order to be seen by men. And they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the hems of their garments.
Ci toate faptele lor le fac pentru a fi văzuți de oameni; își fac filacterele late și își lățesc marginile hainelor;
6 And they love the chief place at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
Și le plac locurile de onoare la ospețe și scaunele din față în sinagogi,
7 and the greetings in the marketplaces, and to be designated by men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
Și saluturile în piețe și să fie numiți de oameni Rabi, Rabi.
8 But be ye not designated Rabbi, for one is your leader, the Christ, and ye are all brothers.
Dar voi, să nu fiți numiți Rabi; fiindcă unul este Stăpânul vostru, Cristos; și voi toți sunteți frați.
9 And do not designate a father of you upon the earth, for one is your Father, he in the heavens.
Și să nu numiți pe nimeni tatăl vostru, pe pământ; fiindcă unul singur este Tatăl vostru, care este în cer.
10 And be ye not designated leaders, for one is your leader, the Christ.
Nici să nu fiți numiți stăpâni; fiindcă unul singur este Stăpânul vostru, Cristos.
11 But the greater of you will be your helper.
Dar cel ce este cel mai mare dintre voi va fi servitorul vostru.
12 And he who will exalt himself will be made low, and he who will make himself low will be exalted.
Și oricine se va înălța pe sine însuși, va fi umilit; și cel ce se va umili, va fi înălțat.
13 Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye close up the kingdom of the heavens ahead of men. For ye enter not in, nor do ye allow those who are entering to enter in.
Dar vai vouă, scribi și farisei, fățarnicilor! Pentru că închideți împărăția cerului înaintea oamenilor; fiindcă nici voi nu intrați, nici pe cei ce vor să intre nu îi lăsați să intre.
14 But woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye devour widows' houses, and praying long in pretence. Because of this ye will receive greater condemnation.
Vai vouă, scribi și farisei, fățarnicilor! Pentru că mâncați casele văduvelor și de ochii lumii faceți rugăciuni lungi; din această cauză veți primi mai mare damnare.
15 Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye encompass the sea and the land to make one proselyte, and when it happens, ye make him twice more a son of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
Vai vouă, scribi și farisei, fățarnicilor! Pentru că înconjurați marea și pământul să faceți un prozelit; și când l-ați făcut, îl faceți de două ori mai mult copilul iadului decât pe voi înșivă. (Geenna g1067)
16 Woe to you, ye blind guides, who say, Whoever may swear by the temple, it is nothing, but whoever may swear by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.
Vai vouă, călăuze oarbe, care spuneți: Oricine va jura pe templu, aceasta nu este nimic; dar oricine va jura pe aurul templului este dator.
17 Ye foolish and blind men, for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?
Nebuni și orbi, fiindcă ce este mai mare, aurul sau templul care sfințește aurul?
18 And, Whoever may swear by the altar, it is nothing, but whoever may swear by the gift upon it, he is obligated.
Și oricine va jura pe altar, aceasta nu este nimic; dar oricine jură pe darul de pe altar, este dator.
19 Ye foolish and blind men, for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
Nebuni și orbi, căci care este mai mare, darul, sau altarul care sfințește darul?
20 He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by all things on it.
De aceea oricine va jura pe altar, jură pe acesta și pe toate lucrurile de pe el.
21 And he who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who dwells in it.
Și oricine va jura pe templu, jură pe acesta și pe cel ce locuiește în el;
22 And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits upon it.
Și cel ce jură pe cer, jură pe tronul lui Dumnezeu și pe cel ce șade pe el.
23 Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye tithe the mint and the anise and the cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law-justice and mercy and faith. These things must be done, and not neglecting those things.
Vai vouă, scribi și farisei, fățarnicilor! Pentru că dați zeciuială din mentă și anis și chimen și ați lăsat nefăcute cele mai grele lucruri ale legii: judecata și mila și credința; pe acestea trebuia să le faceți și să nu le lăsați nefăcute pe celelalte.
24 Ye blind guides, who strain out the gnat, and swallow the camel.
Călăuze oarbe, care strecurați țânțarul și înghițiți cămila.
25 Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but inside they are full of plunder and unrighteousness.
Vai vouă, scribi și farisei, fățarnicilor! Pentru că faceți curat exteriorul paharului și al strachinei, dar în interior sunt pline de jecmănire și de necumpătare.
26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the platter, so that the outside of them may also become clean.
Fariseu orb, curăță întâi ceea ce este în interiorul paharului și al strachinei, pentru ca și exteriorul lor să fie curat.
27 Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye are like whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
Vai vouă, scribi și farisei, fățarnicilor! Pentru că sunteți asemănători unor morminte văruite, care, într-adevăr, se arată frumoase la exterior, dar în interior sunt pline de oasele morților și de toată necurăția.
28 In this way also, ye indeed outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside ye are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Tot așa și voi, la exterior vă arătați drepți oamenilor, dar în interior sunteți plini de fățărnicie și de nelegiuire.
29 Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchers of the righteous,
Vai vouă, scribi și farisei, fățarnicilor! Pentru că voi zidiți mormintele profeților și înfrumusețați mormintele celor drepți,
30 and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
Și spuneți: Dacă am fi fost în zilele părinților noștri, nu ne-am fi făcut părtași cu ei la sângele profeților.
31 So then ye testify to yourselves that ye are sons of those who murdered the prophets.
De aceea vă sunteți martori vouă înșivă că sunteți copiii celor ce au ucis profeții.
32 Then fill ye up the measure of your fathers.
Umpleți și voi măsura părinților voștri!
33 Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how will ye escape from the damnation of hell? (Geenna g1067)
Șerpi, pui de vipere, cum să scăpați de damnarea iadului? (Geenna g1067)
34 Because of this, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scholars. And some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city,
Din această cauză, iată, eu vă trimit profeți și înțelepți și scribi; și pe unii dintre ei îi veți ucide și crucifica; și pe alții dintre ei îi veți biciui în sinagogile voastre și îi veți persecuta din cetate în cetate;
35 so that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.
Ca să vină asupra voastră tot sângele drept vărsat pe pământ, de la sângele dreptului Abel, până la sângele lui Zaharia, fiul lui Barachia, pe care l-ați ucis între templu și altar.
36 Truly I say to you, that all these things will come upon this generation.
Adevărat vă spun: Toate acestea vor veni asupra acestei generații.
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who have been sent to her. How often I wanted to gathered thy children together the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and ye would not.
Ierusalime, Ierusalime, care ucizi profeții și împroști cu pietre pe cei trimiși la tine. Cât de des am voit să strâng pe copiii tăi cum își strânge găina puii sub aripi și ați refuzat.
38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
Iată, casa vă este lăsată pustie.
39 For I say to you, ye will, no, not see me henceforth, until ye say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Fiindcă vă spun: De acum înainte nicidecum nu mă veți mai vedea până când veți spune: Binecuvântat este cel ce vine în numele Domnului.
