< Matthew 17 >

1 And after six days Jesus takes Peter, and James, and John his brother, and brings them up onto a high mountain in private.
Nnansia akyi, Yesu faa Petro, Yakobo ne ne nua Yohane de wɔn kɔɔ bepɔ tenten bi a ɛso yɛ dinn atifi.
2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun, and his garments became white as the light.
Wɔwɔ hɔ no, wɔhunuu sɛ ne onipadua asesa ama nʼanim ahyerɛn sɛ owia, ma nʼatadeɛ ayɛ fitafita sɛ nwera.
3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with him.
Prɛko pɛ, Mose ne Elia bɛfirii hɔ a wɔne Yesu rekasa.
4 And having responded, Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here. If thou desire, we could make here three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
Petro kaa sɛ, “Awurade, ɛyɛ nwanwa sɛ yɛn nso yɛwɔ ha bi. Sɛ wobɛpene so a, anka mɛbɔ asese mmiɛnsa na mede baako ama wo, na mede baako ama Mose, na mede baako ama Elia.”
5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear ye him.
Petro gu so rekasa no, omununkum hann bi bɛkataa wɔn so ɛnna nne bi firi omununkum no mu kaa sɛ, “Yei ne me Dɔ Ba a ɔsɔ mʼani. Montie no!”
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were exceedingly afraid.
Asuafoɔ no tee nne no, wɔbɔɔ hu, maa wɔde wɔn anim butubutuu fam.
7 And having come, Jesus touched them and said, Arise, and fear not.
Yesu baa wɔn nkyɛn, bɛsosɔɔ wɔn mu kaa sɛ, “Monsɔre! Monnsuro!”
8 And having lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, except Jesus only.
Wɔpagyaa wɔn ani nso, wɔanhunu obiara sɛ Yesu nko ara.
9 And while they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man will rise from the dead.
Ɛbaa sɛ wɔresiane afiri bepɔ no so no, Yesu bɔɔ wɔn ano sɛ, “Monnka deɛ moahunu no nkyerɛ obiara kɔsi sɛ mɛnyane afiri awufoɔ mu.”
10 And his disciples questioned him, saying, Why then do the scholars say that Elijah must first come?
Yesu asuafoɔ no bisaa no sɛ, “Adɛn enti na da biara Yudafoɔ mpanin ka ti mu sɛ, ɛsɛ sɛ Elia sane ba ansa na Agyenkwa no aba?”
11 And having answered, Jesus said to them, Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all.
Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Deɛ wɔreka no wom. Ɛsɛ sɛ Elia di ɛkan ba bɛtoto nneɛma yie.
12 But I say to you, that Elijah already came, and they knew him not, but did to him how many things they wanted. Likewise also the Son of man is going to suffer by them.
Na nokorɛ ni, Elia aba dada na wɔanhunu no, na dodoɔ no ara ne no anni no yie. Na me, Agyenkwa no nso, mɛhunu amane wɔ wɔn nsam saa ara.”
13 Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them about John the immerser.
Afei, asuafoɔ no hunuu sɛ, Yohane Osubɔni ho asɛm na ɔreka no.
14 And when they came to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling to him, and saying,
Ɛberɛ a ɔsiane duruu bepɔ no ase no, ɔhunuu sɛ nnipadɔm retwɛn no. Ɔbarima bi bɛbuu nkotodwe wɔ Yesu anim kaa sɛ,
15 Lord, be merciful to my son, because he is lunatic, and suffers badly. For he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.
“Owura, hunu me ba bi a ɔtwa mmɔbɔ, ɛfiri sɛ, ɔwɔ ɔhaw kɛseɛ mu. Sɛ otwa no ba a, ɛtumi twa no hwe ogya anaa nsuo mu.
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not heal him.
Enti, mede no brɛɛ wʼasuafoɔ no sɛ wɔnsa no yadeɛ; nanso wɔantumi.”
17 And having answered, Jesus said, O faithless and perverted generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him here to me.
Yesu kaa sɛ, “Mo asoɔdenfoɔ a monni gyidie! Me ne mo ntena nkɔsi da bɛn? Momfa no mmrɛ me ha.”
18 And Jesus rebuked it, and the demon departed from him. And the boy was cured from that hour.
Yesu teateaa honhommɔne a ɛwɔ abarimaa no mu no ma ɛtu firii ne mu ma amonom hɔ ara ne ho tɔɔ no.
19 Then the disciples having come to Jesus in private, said, Why could we not cast it out?
Ɛkaa Yesu ne nʼasuafoɔ no, wɔbisaa no sɛ, “Adɛn enti na yɛantumi antu honhommɔne no?”
20 And Jesus said to them, Because of your unbelief. For truly I say to you, if ye have faith as a grain of a mustard plant, ye will say to this mountain, Remove from here to there, and it will depart, and nothing will be impossible to you.
Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Ɛfiri sɛ, mo gyidie sua. Sɛ mowɔ gyidie sɛ onyina abaa ɛsua koraa no a, anka mobɛtumi aka akyerɛ bepɔ yi sɛ, ‘Tutu kɔ nohoa!’ na ɛbɛtutu akɔ akyirikyiri.
21 But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.
Na saa honhommɔne a ɛte sɛɛ yi deɛ, ɛrentumi ntu da, gye sɛ monam mpaeɛbɔ ne mmuada die so.”
22 And while they turned back in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man is going to be delivered into the hands of men,
Ɛda bi a Yesu ne nʼasuafoɔ no wɔ Galilea no, ɔka kyerɛɛ nʼasuafoɔ no sɛ, “Wɔrebɛyi Onipa Ba no de no ahyɛ wɔn a

24 And when they came to Capernaum, those who receive the double-drachma came to Peter, and said, Does not your teacher pay the double-drachma?
Ɛberɛ a wɔbɛduruu Kapernaum no nso, ɛhɔ asɔre no mu ɔtogyefoɔ baa Petro nkyɛn bɛbisaa no sɛ, “Enti, wo wura tua ɛtoɔ?”
25 He says, Yes. And when he entered into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What think thou, Simon? The kings of the earth, from whom do they take taxes or tribute, from their sons or from strangers?
Petro buaa no sɛ, “Aane ɔtua.” Petro firi hɔ no, ɔkɔɔ efie kɔbɔɔ Yesu amaneɛ a ɛfa ɛtoɔtua no ho. Yesu amma nʼano ansi koraa na ɔbisaa no sɛ, “Na wo Petro, wo nso wodwene ho sɛn? Ahemfo twa ɛtoɔ ma wɔn ara wɔn ɔmanfoɔ tua anaasɛ wɔtwa ma ahɔhoɔ a wɔdi wɔn so no?”
26 And Peter says to him, From strangers. Jesus said to him, Therefore the sons are free.
Petro buaa sɛ, “Wɔtwa ɛtoɔ no ma ahɔhoɔ no.” Yesu nso buaa sɛ, “Petro mo! Ɛnneɛ na ɛnsɛ sɛ ɔman mma no tua ɛtoɔ biara.
27 But, so that we might not offend them, after going to the sea, cast a hook. And take up the first fish coming up, and having opened its mouth, thou will find a four-drachma coin. After taking that, give thou to them for me and thee.
Na mmom, ɛsiane sɛ mempɛ sɛ wɔfa yɛn ho abufuo no enti, kɔ asuo no mu kɔto darewa. Apataa a wobɛyi no adi ɛkan no, bue nʼanom. Wobɛhunu sika a ɛbɛso me ne wo ɛtoɔ no tua sɛ ɛhyɛ nʼanom; yi na fa kɔtua ma wɔn.”
