1 And having called in his twelve disciples, he gave them authority over unclean spirits, so as to cast them out, and to heal every sickness and every disease.

2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: First, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother,

3 Philip, and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector, James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus who was surnamed Thaddaeus,

4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, having ordered them, saying, Go not into a way of the Gentiles, and enter not into a city of the Samaritans,

6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
israayelgotrasya haaritaa ye ye me. saaste. saameva samiipa. m yaata|
7 And while going, preach, saying, The kingdom of the heavens has come near.
gatvaa gatvaa svargasya raajatva. m savidhamabhavat, etaa. m kathaa. m pracaarayata|
8 Heal those who are feeble, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely ye received, freely give.
aamayagrastaan svasthaan kuruta, ku. s.thina. h pari. skuruta, m. rtalokaan jiivayata, bhuutaan tyaajayata, vinaa muulya. m yuuyam alabhadhva. m vinaiva muulya. m vi"sraa. nayata|
9 Acquire no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts,
kintu sve. saa. m ka. tibandhe. su svar. naruupyataamraa. naa. m kimapi na g. rhliita|
10 no bag for the road, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor staffs, for the workman is worthy of his provision.
anyacca yaatraayai celasampu. ta. m vaa dvitiiyavasana. m vaa paaduke vaa ya. s.ti. h, etaan maa g. rhliita, yata. h kaaryyak. rt bharttu. m yogyo bhavati|
11 And into whatever city or village ye may enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide until ye go forth.
apara. m yuuya. m yat pura. m ya nca graama. m pravi"satha, tatra yo jano yogyapaatra. m tamavagatya yaanakaala. m yaavat tatra ti. s.thata|
12 And while entering into the house, salute it.
yadaa yuuya. m tadgeha. m pravi"satha, tadaa tamaa"si. sa. m vadata|
13 And if indeed the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.
yadi sa yogyapaatra. m bhavati, tarhi tatkalyaa. na. m tasmai bhavi. syati, nocet saa"siiryu. smabhyameva bhavi. syati|
14 And whoever will not receive you, nor hear your words, while departing that house or that city, shake off the dust of your feet.
kintu ye janaa yu. smaakamaatithya. m na vidadhati yu. smaaka. m kathaa nca na "s. r.nvanti te. saa. m gehaat puraadvaa prasthaanakaale svapaduulii. h paatayata|
15 Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.
yu. smaanaha. m tathya. m vacmi vicaaradine tatpurasya da"saata. h sidomamoraapurayorda"saa sahyataraa bhavi. syati|
16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. Become ye therefore wise as serpents, and innocent as doves.
pa"syata, v. rkayuuthamadhye me. sa. h yathaavistathaa yu. smaana prahi. nomi, tasmaad yuuyam ahiriva satarkaa. h kapotaaivaahi. msakaa bhavata|
17 But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues,
n. rbhya. h saavadhaanaa bhavata; yatastai ryuuya. m raajasa. msadi samarpi. syadhve te. saa. m bhajanagehe prahaari. syadhve|
18 and ye will be brought to governors and even kings because of me, for a witness to them and to the Gentiles.
yuuya. m mannaamaheto. h "saast. r.naa. m raaj naa nca samak. sa. m taananyade"sina"scaadhi saak. sitvaarthamaane. syadhve|
19 But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye should speak, for it will be given you in that hour what ye will speak.
kintvittha. m samarpitaa yuuya. m katha. m kimuttara. m vak. syatha tatra maa cintayata, yatastadaa yu. smaabhi ryad vaktavya. m tat tadda. n.de yu. smanmana. h su samupasthaasyati|
20 For ye are not who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking in you.
yasmaat tadaa yo vak. syati sa na yuuya. m kintu yu. smaakamantarastha. h pitraatmaa|
21 And a brother will deliver up a brother to death, and a father a child. And children will rise up against parents, and condemn them to death.
sahaja. h sahaja. m taata. h suta nca m. rtau samarpayi. syati, apatyaagi svasvapitro rvipak. siibhuuya tau ghaatayi. syanti|
22 And ye will be hated by all men because of my name, but he who endures to the end, this man will be saved.
mannamaheto. h sarvve janaa yu. smaan. rtiiyi. syante, kintu ya. h "se. sa. m yaavad dhairyya. m gh. rtvaa sthaasyati, sa traayi. syate|
23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the other, for truly I say to you, ye will, no, not have completed the cities of Israel, until the Son of man comes.
tai ryadaa yuuyamekapure taa. di. syadhve, tadaa yuuyamanyapura. m palaayadhva. m yu. smaanaha. m tathya. m vacmi yaavanmanujasuto naiti taavad israayelde"siiyasarvvanagarabhrama. na. m samaapayitu. m na "sak. syatha|
24 A pupil is not above his teacher, nor a bondman above his lord.
guro. h "si. syo na mahaan, prabhordaaso na mahaan|
25 It is enough for the pupil that he becomes like his teacher, and the bondman like his lord. If they have called the house-ruler Beelzebub, how much more those of his household.
yadi "si. syo nijaguro rdaasa"sca svaprabho. h samaano bhavati tarhi tad yathe. s.ta. m| cettairg. rhapatirbhuutaraaja ucyate, tarhi parivaaraa. h ki. m tathaa na vak. syante?
26 Fear them not therefore, for there is nothing covered, that will not be revealed, and hid, that will not be known.
kintu tebhyo yuuya. m maa bibhiita, yato yanna prakaa"si. syate, taad. rk chaadita. m kimapi naasti, yacca na vya nci. syate, taad. rg gupta. m kimapi naasti|
27 What I tell you in the darkness, speak ye in the light, and what ye hear in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops.
yadaha. m yu. smaan tamasi vacmi tad yu. smaabhirdiiptau kathyataa. m; kar. naabhyaa. m yat "sruuyate tad gehopari pracaaryyataa. m|
28 And be not afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. But rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Geenna )
ye kaaya. m hantu. m "saknuvanti naatmaana. m, tebhyo maa bhai. s.ta; ya. h kaayaatmaanau niraye naa"sayitu. m, "saknoti, tato bibhiita| (Geenna )
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall on the ground independent of your Father.
dvau ca. takau kimekataamramudrayaa na vikriiyete? tathaapi yu. smattaataanumati. m vinaa te. saamekopi bhuvi na patati|
30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
yu.smacchirasaa.m sarvvakacaa ga.nitaa.m.h santi|
31 Fear not therefore, ye are of worth more than many sparrows.
ato maa bibhiita, yuuya. m bahuca. takebhyo bahumuulyaa. h|
32 Therefore every man, whoever will profess in me before men, I also will profess in him before my Father in the heavens.
yo manujasaak. saanmaama"ngiikurute tamaha. m svargasthataatasaak. saada"ngiikari. sye|
33 But whoever would deny me before men, I also will deny him before my Father in the heavens.
p. rthvyaamaha. m "saanti. m daatumaagataiti maanubhavata, "saanti. m daatu. m na kintvasi. m|
34 Think not that I came to spread peace on the earth. I came not to spread peace, but a sword.
pit. rmaat. r"sca"sruubhi. h saaka. m sutasutaabadhuu rvirodhayitu ncaagatesmi|
35 For I came to divide a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
tata. h svasvaparivaaraeva n. r"satru rbhavitaa|
36 And a man's foes, are those of his own household.
ya. h pitari maatari vaa mattodhika. m priiyate, sa na madarha. h;
37 He who loves father or mother above me is not worthy of me, and he who loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me.
ya"sca sute sutaayaa. m vaa mattodhika. m priiyate, sepi na madarha. h|
38 And he who does not take his cross and follow behind me, is not worthy of me.
ya. h svakru"sa. m g. rhlan matpa"scaannaiti, sepi na madarha. h|
39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life because of me will find it.
ya. h svapraa. naanavati, sa taan haarayi. syate, yastu matk. rte svapraa. naan haarayati, sa taanavati|
40 He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.
yo yu. smaakamaatithya. m vidadhaati, sa mamaatithya. m vidadhaati, ya"sca mamaatithya. m vidadhaati, sa matprerakasyaatithya. m vidadhaati|
41 He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward.
yo bhavi. syadvaadiiti j naatvaa tasyaatithya. m vidhatte, sa bhavi. syadvaadina. h phala. m lapsyate, ya"sca dhaarmmika iti viditvaa tasyaatithya. m vidhatte sa dhaarmmikamaanavasya phala. m praapsyati|
42 And whoever may give to drink one of these little ones merely a cold cup in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you he will, no, not lose his reward.
ya"sca ka"scit ete. saa. m k. sudranaraa. naam ya. m ka ncanaika. m "si. sya iti viditvaa ka. msaika. m "siitalasalila. m tasmai datte, yu. smaanaha. m tathya. m vadaami, sa kenaapi prakaare. na phalena na va nci. syate|
