Matthew 1
1 A book of a genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

2 Abraham begot Isaac, and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers,

3 and Judah begot Perez and Zerah from Tamar, and Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram,

4 and Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,

5 and Salmon begot Boaz from Rahab, and Boaz begot Obed from Ruth, and Obed begot Jesse,

6 and Jesse begot David the king. And David begot Solomon from the widow of Uriah,

10 and Hezekiah begot Manasseh, and Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah,

11 and Josiah begot Jechoniah and his brothers during the Babylonian exile.

12 And after the Babylonian exile, Jechoniah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel,

13 and Zerubbabel begot Abiud, and Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor,

14 and Azor begot Zadoc, and Zadoc begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud,

15 and Eliud begot Eleazar, and Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob,
Y Eliud tuvo a Eleazar; y Eleazar a Matán; y Matán tuvo a Jacobo;
16 and Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
Y el hijo de Jacobo fue José, marido de María, que dio a luz a Jesús, llamado el Cristo.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, and from David to the Babylonian exile fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian exile to the Christ fourteen generations.
De manera que todas las generaciones desde Abraham hasta David son catorce generaciones; y desde David hasta la deportación a Babilonia, catorce generaciones; y de la deportación a Babilonia a la venida de Cristo, catorce generaciones.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was this way. For his mother Mary, who was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found having in her womb from the Holy Spirit.
Ahora el nacimiento de Jesucristo fue de esta manera: cuando su madre, María, iba a casarse con José, antes de que se unieran, se descubrió que estaba encinta por el Espíritu Santo.
19 But Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wanting to expose her to public disgrace, intended to dismiss her privately.
Y José, su esposo, siendo un hombre recto, y no deseando infamarla públicamente, tuvo la intención de dejarla en privado.
20 But while he considered these things, behold, an agent of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take Mary to be thy wife, for that which was begotten in her is from the Holy Spirit.
Pero cuando pensaba en estas cosas, un ángel del Señor vino a él en sueños, y le dijo: José, hijo de David, no temas tomar a María por esposa. porque el hijo que va a tener es del Espíritu Santo.
21 And she will bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS, for he will save his people from their sins.
Y dará a luz un hijo; y le pondrás el nombre de Jesús; porque él dará a su pueblo la salvación de sus pecados.
22 Now all this has come to pass, so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, which says,
Todo esto sucedió para que la palabra del Señor por medio del profeta se cumpliera,
23 Behold, the virgin will have in her womb, and will bring forth a son. And they will call his name Immanuel, which is, being interpreted, God with us.
Mira, la virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrán por nombre Emanuel, es decir, Dios con nosotros.
24 And Joseph, being roused from his sleep, did as the agent of the Lord ordered him. And he took his wife,
Y José hizo como el ángel del Señor le había dicho, y la tomó por esposa;
25 and knew her not until she brought forth her son, the firstborn. And he called his name JESUS.
Y no vivieron como esposos hasta que dio a luz a su hijo primogénito; y le dio el nombre de Jesús.
