< Mark 13 >

1 And as he went forth out of the temple, one of his disciples says to him, Teacher, see what kind of stones and what kind of buildings.
Then as He was going out from the temple, one of His disciples said to Him: “Teacher, just look! Such stones, such buildings!”
2 And Jesus having answered, he said to him, See thou these great buildings? There will be left, no, not a stone upon a stone, that will, no, not be brought down.
In answer Jesus said to him: “Do you see these great buildings? Here not a single stone will be left upon another; each one will be thrown down.”
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew questioned him privately,
Then as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked Him privately:
4 Tell us, when will these things be? And what is the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?
“Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign whenever all these things are about to be fulfilled?”
5 And having answered them, Jesus began to say to them, Watch that not any man lead you astray.
So by way of an answer to them Jesus began by saying: “Take care that no one deceives you.
6 For many will come in my name, saying, I am, and they will lead many astray.
Because many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many.
7 And when ye may hear of wars and rumors of wars, be not alarmed, for it must happen, but the end is not yet.
But whenever you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not let it distress you; because happen they must, but the end is not yet.
8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These things are the beginnings of travails.
Because nation will be raised against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and tumults. These things are the beginning of birth pains.
9 But watch ye yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and ye will be beaten in synagogues. And ye will be stood before rulers and kings because of me, for a testimony to them.
“But watch out for yourselves, because they will deliver you up to councils and flog you in synagogues, and you will be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them.
10 And the good news must first be preached to all the nations.
Also, the Gospel must first be proclaimed to all the ethnic nations.
11 But when they lead you, delivering you up, be not anxious before what ye might speak, nor meditate. But whatever may be given you in that hour, speak ye this, for ye are not who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
Now whenever they lead you away and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand nor premeditate what you will say; rather, whatever is given to you in that hour, speak that, because it will not be you doing the speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
12 And brother will betray brother to death, and a father a child. And children will rise up against parents, and will condemn them to death.
“Further, brother will betray brother to death and a father his child, and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.
13 And ye will be hated by all men because of my name, but he who endures to the end, this man will be saved.
And you will be hated by all for my name's sake, yet he who endures to the end, he will be saved.
14 But when ye see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not (let him who reads understand), then let those in Judea flee to the mountains,
“Now whenever you see the ‘abomination of desolation’, the one spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where he should not”—let the reader understand—“then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
15 and let the man on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter in to take anything out of his house,
Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house.
16 and let the man who is in the field not turn back for the things behind, to take his cloak.
Let him who is in the field not return to his things to get his cloak.
17 But woe to those who have in the womb, and to those who suckle in those days.
But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
18 And pray ye that your flight may not be in winter.
And pray that your flight not take place in winter,
19 For those days will be tribulation, such as has not happened from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and no, will not happen.
because those will be days of affliction such as there has not been the like from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and never again shall be.
20 And unless the Lord cut short the days, no flesh would have been saved, but because of the chosen, whom he chose, he cut short the days.
If the Lord did not cut those days short, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He did shorten the days.
21 And then if any man should say to you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Lo, there, do not believe.
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ ‘Look, there!’ do not believe it;
22 For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will give signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen.
because false christs and false prophets will be raised up, and they will show signs and wonders so as to even mislead the elect, if that were possible.
23 But watch ye. Behold, I have foretold all to you.
So you watch out! See, I have told you everything in advance.
24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,
“But in those days, after that tribulation, ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
25 and the stars of the sky will be falling, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
the stars of heaven will be falling, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.’
26 And then they will see the Son of man coming in clouds with much power and glory.
And then they will see the Son of the Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
27 And then he will send forth his agents, and will gather together his chosen from the four winds, from the outermost part of the earth as far as the outermost part of heaven.
And then He will send His angels and gather together His elect from the four winds, from earth's extreme point to heaven's extreme point.
28 But learn a parable from the fig tree. When its branch now becomes tender, and sprouts the leaves, ye know that summer is near.
“Now learn this example from the fig tree: whenever its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, one knows that the summer is near.
29 So ye also, when ye may see these things happening, know ye that it is near, at the doors.
Even so you also, whenever you see these things happening, know that it is near—at the doors!
30 Truly I say to you, that this generation will, no, not pass away, until all these things happen.
Assuredly I tell you that this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things happen.
31 The sky and the earth will pass away, but my words may, no, not pass away.
The heaven and the earth will pass away, but my words will certainly not pass away.
32 But about that day or that hour no man knows, not even the agents in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father.
“Now concerning that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels who are in heaven, not the Son, but only the Father.
33 Watch ye! Be alert and pray, for ye know not when the time is,
Watch! Keep alert! Pray! Because you do not know when that time will be.
34 like a man abroad, having left his house, and having given authority to his bondmen, and to each man his work, and commanded the doorkeeper that he should watch.
It is like a man off on a journey, having left his house and given the authority to his slaves, and to each his work; and he commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch.
35 Watch therefore, for ye know not when the lord of the house comes, at evening, or at midnight, or at cock crowing, or in the morning,
Therefore be watchful, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming—at evening or at midnight or at cockcrow or early morning—
36 lest having come suddenly, he may find you sleeping.
lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say to you I say to all, watch!
The things I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
